***Official March 2021 Thread***

I have heard warnings about DS from a lot of members here so we cancelled our reservations and will not be visiting this trip. We are however doing a few TS dinners though but for us that is hard to completely skip out on.

We had already planned on skipping DS. This is a shorter trip for us so getting over there would have been a challenge anyway.

We definitely have a few TS planned and I don't think we will drop all of them but I probably will rethink a couple of them that were more or less just for a sit down park break. If the hours are going to be extended, we may just go back to the resort for our break instead.

And this definitely wasn't said to tell anyone what to do. Just a perspective from someone who is there currently and what they feel safe doing.

That is the first time I have heard that, people keep warning about eating indoors. I am obviously doing it, but I can guess why QS would feel unsafe due to the crowding.

The few times I did Quick Service there were SO many people crowding around the door waiting for their food to be ready THEN you had to find a place to eat. AND if that table happened to be outside, then people were constantly walking by you or hovering waiting for their mobile order to say it was ready.

At Table Service, they are mostly set up for people to wait for their table so there was space to wait without others being on top of you. And then, once seated, all the other tables were distanced.

I know everyone's comfort level is different. But I am ensuring I have table reservations for at least 2 meals each day on my next trip because of this.

RIGHT? I am going to be there the week that it opens but am going to avoid opening day and try to go the 2nd day.

I felt safer doing table service than quick service, to be honest.
Same here. When I was at Disney a few months ago, waiting for our mobile orders with a crowd of people was far different from sitting at a table that is six feet or more away from anybody else. Honestly if I were that nervous, I wouldn’t go to begin with.

We have our car so we honestly may just run and grab take out for dinner. lol. It will be cheaper that way anyway!
Yes! I bet you will save a lot of money that way.
I was actually a bit frustrated on our last trip with how long it took to get mobile orders, since everyone was placing them around the same times. Having the flexibility with your own car will be really nice.

So many people kept warning about eating inside that I purposely limited my TS reservations. My trip is in 8 days and I am starting to wonder if it would be a good idea to check and see what's open... It's not like QS is cheap anyways lol.

I found that QS in HS was ok, Magic Kingdom was bad (lots of crowding), good options at Epcot with a mix of crowding. You also have to plan ahead more than we used to with Mobile ordering. Like if you know you want to eat around 11:30, you may need to place your order at 11 so it will be ready by then. It just takes more planning than it used to. At times it’s so nice to have a reserved spot waiting for you at a TS place.
I understand the hesitation and fear - I’m not downplaying that. But in my experience at Disney, I felt better eating at TS than QS with regard to Covid.

I'm just over here, twiddling my thumbs, waiting for Disney to release the Flower and Garden menus and update park hours for my trip!

I know I'm not the only one, but man... Waiting is so hard, especially as it inches closer to our departure date. I'm dying over here! 😭😉😂
It’s totally hard! I want the next hours update, because that will hopefully bring more evening park ADRs. I really want Sci-Fi for dinner on March 11, it’s my birthday and I want a tasty burger and shake.

I can imagine MK would be worse, there just aren't a ton of options. Going to talk to my wife on what we should do as I know both MK days we have ADR's for dinner. I guess maybe the kids won't like skipping food for 8 hours or so.. lol

I have never been to Sci-Fi, is it good? I read some mixed reviews on it. My issue with that day is that we didn't make a ADR as we never know what to eat in HS. Which means we are going to be stuck at the resort eating since we cancelled our DS evening... sigh

It was good when I was there in October. If you can go during COVID, I recommend it because it’s much calmer than when they can fill every seat (I‘m solo and in January 2020 ended up in the back of a car with a big family with many children spread out over 2 cars, so it was a little hectic)

I've been stalking the outdoor kitchen menus daily. That is a highlight for us (F&G and F&W). We print it out and highlight what we all want to try (teen daughter included)!

We have lunch reservations made for our MK day as well. I might try and adjust them to maybe eat at a more 'off' time to maybe get slightly fewer people but I felt the same. I think we're going to need a solid meal that day.

And yes, I think this will work well especially with early-ish park closures. Even if we've had a full lunch and/or several snacks, we will probably want something that more resembles a dinner. We can leave the park, pick up some food and chill in our room.

I love reading so many people going with their older or adult children! We only have one child and I get so nervous when she's "outgrown" Disney I'm out of luck because my husband isn't as big of a fan. I'll have to make sure she understands Peter Pan and that you never grow up in Disney World!

I don't think people outgrow Disney, perhaps the entire "character" obsession but not WDW in general. My kids are old now but still enjoy going although their "reasons" changed from characters to food & rides. My wife and I even went alone last time and it was one of the most magical trips we have ever taken.

I know I sound like a broken record, but I would book some TS if you can. If you find it's too much food or you aren't comfortable, you can always cancel the rest of them.

THIS EXACTLY - it was SO nice knowing that there was a spot waiting for me at a particular time.

This will be such an added bonus having a car. I did a Target pick up the day I landed - loaded my cart and hit "buy" when I was at the airport and it was ready when I landed, so I did the drive-up before I even went to the hotel! It was nice to have some basic snacks in the room for breakfast and after park snacking.
