Just an FYI, I am a teacher in the Houston area and our Spring Break is March 10-15. So, I am not sure if most of Texas is out during that time, but I know Houston is.
Yes, typically most or all of Texas is out that week, as well as Ontario Canada, and other places around North America. That week was already forecast to be high crowds because of that, but the weeks leading up to it that were low to moderate are now also showing high crowds. (I do see one or two more moderate days still that second week, which is interesting, I wonder if they will change later too!)Just an FYI, I am a teacher in the Houston area and our Spring Break is March 10-15. I see posts in other threads that some winter weeks have gone from a 1 to an 8, so I guess those of us going from 5-6 to 8-10 don’t have quite as much of an adjustment at least! I would be annoyed if I had been expecting truly low crowds and then have it be insane.
I am also hoping things won't be too bad when we get there as well. We, as a family have already decided we are going to skip HEA fireworks. We saw them in June, with a crowd level of 8, and it was just too packed on Main Street. However, with a crowd level of 8, we were still able to fast past almost everything, with the exception of PP and 7 dwarfs. I just hope the crowd at the resort pool won't be packed because that's one thing I am wanting to do, is nothing by the pool. Lol
I know last winter/spring AK really messed with TP’s forecasts, so maybe that’s part of the data causing this shift? During our stay last February most parks were maybe 1-2 levels higher than forecast, but AK ended up being 10s the whole time, regardless of EMH, special events, etc.I wasn't really shocked to get the TP email this morning with the crowd updates, I was expecting things to be pretty busy. My last trip was mostly 8s and 9s and it didn't feel unbearably busy. But that might be because I'm used to Disneyland which is AWFUL when it's crowded because everything gets bottlenecked like crazy. WDW has much more space to breathe.
The only thing that seems odd is straight 10s all week in the Animal Kingdom.
The MDE keeps dropping my reservation at the Shades of Green. It drops my reservation sometimes 2 or 3 times a day. When it is linked it is only showing my FP window 30 days out. I called the internet helpline yesterday but said there was really nothing that they could do until it drops off again. I still should see FP selection days into March not February. Looks like another call to the help line. The app seems a lot more buggy now than it was in 2017 when I was working our last vacation.
Check every day if you can plans change and FP's are modified constantly.Missed out on a couple of key fast-passes for our March 3-9th trip. Was on right a 7a.m. on our 60 day mark and all SDD fast-passes were gone and nothing before 6 P.M. was available for FOP. I ended up just grabbing a earlier Nav'i ill try to rope drop FOP. I probably could have done better if I had shifted my days some, but I didn't want to rearrange dining reservations and our dessert party. Will make it work though and check daily.
I'm happy to say that I'm actually getting up early tomorrow morning to book our trip-after-next (in December). I joke these days that I live-to-vacation but it isn't really a joke.
The school calendar is the worst. We pulled our kid in K-2, but the second grade trip was stressful, trying to make up missed work (with a kid who doesn’t like to miss things). So now we are stuck with spring break as our best option...I told my wife when I retired from the Army we were taking 2 vacations a year so I know how you guys feel. I live from vacation to vacation. If I'm not planning something I feel lost.
My son is 3 so I have to try to plan and do as much as we can before we become servants to the school system. I'm already planning a return in the fall to do the MNSSHP.
I'm not having a good time of it.It is most certainly not a joke! I am doing the same thing.
