*OFFICIAL MARCH 2010 THREAD* - Lets countdown together!

i have never been able to park hop without hoppers.
we tried. when animal kingdom closed earlier than epcot.
we got to the epcot gate with out last extra ticket and were
told we had to have a hopper.

Yes, I've done at several times. We took my Grandmother and purchased her an 8 day pass with no hopping option. We went to the parks for 4 days and ended up using the extra 4 days to "hop." They just told her that she would lose a whole day when she swiped her ticket. We also did it for our daughters 2 friends when we traveled with them for her birthday. It worked just fine for us.

Can I join? We are going March 27- April 2. Unfortunately staying offsite at Buena Vista Suites. I can't really argue, because we are going back this summer for 2 weeks. I have heard good things about Buena Vista Suites and it is very close to Epcot.

Ahh, I see. Rather than paying for hoppers, you simply pay for additional days and use the tickets as though you had 2 days in one. Correct?

Wait a darn-tootin minute! Is it CHEAPER to buy additional days than to purchase hoppers??????????????

i tried doing that in feb 2009 and it didnt work.
:confused3:confused3
or were they individual tickets not tied to your resort card key?

Unless you have Park Hoppers you will not be able to hop...even if you have extra days. It doesn't make sense for Disney to allow this, because more days are cheaper then adding Park Hopping. I would check out the thread that describes everything about tickets by Cheshire Figment (sorry if I messed up the spelling on this!).

I am seriously SO excited! We booked our trip to Disney!!!

It will be just my husband and I this trip!
Me (Wendy) age 37. I've been visiting Disney since the 2nd grade!
Husband (Dave) age 38. He has been visiting since Junior year in high school when his school band marched in the afternoon parade.

We aren't sure we are going to park hop so we bought 8 day Magic Your Way tickets (5 days in the parks) and 2 extra days in case we decide to park hop.

I'm confused about your ticketing plan. You are proposing using a second ticket for an additional park on the same day you use another ticket for the first park? I thought that I'd read somewhere that you can't do that. I thought they won't let you use a second ticket for a second park if you've already used another base ticket at another park that day. The park hopper option is only $52.00 per ticket. That might be more expensive than adding 2 or 3 day to your ticket... but then you can park hop all you want. We always park hop. The general theory is that the park that has extra magic hours that day will be the most crowded during regular hours because non-hoppers will choose that park for the day. So, you go during the day to the park that had late magic hours the night before and then switch to the next park that has late magic hours. I've been to AK once, just for the gift shop, hopped back on the bus and joined my family at a different park. Its especially easy to park hop if you don't have strollers or wheelchairs along for the ride. :cool1:

I started my "gathering" today...bought the dd a few Tinkerbell items and glowy necklaces and bracelets. Love all the ideas the dis'ers have on preparing and saving some money! I bought three glowy necklaces for a $1 at Wally world and know I would spend way more if she found one at WDW.

COME ON MARCH! :woohoo:

Also, wondering on the earlier post on using extra days instead of having a park hopper....may just try it see what they say..doesn't hurt to try all they can say is no.

:) I'm with you there, I've already got the suitcases half packed and haqve started picking up things that I need. Among other things a new pair of trainers. I need to get those worn in...

Sorry, but I can guarantee they won't let you do this. It's one park per day unless you have a hopper and you can't use day 2 of your tickets to get into two parks on day 1. If you want to hop, you need a hopper.

I just booked a trip for me and DD for March 15-20. It is going to be a secret until we get to the gate. I am crazy excited.:yay:

I started to officially pack on Friday of last week. We have everyone's shirts packed (all Disney), and I went to a dollar store and bought some of the glow necklaces too! My kids will love them and I know they would want them at the park, so it is much better to save the money! :goodvibes

I was reading a trip report about someone that thought you could do this. They split up there group and were suppose to meet inside the park at a later time. The Grandma was let in to MK but was told that they were not suppose to allow her to do it (she told them it was her only day to see the wishes and it was her first visit to the park. Or something similar). But her daughter and her kids were refused and they couldn't get in unless they wanted to buy park hoppers. So although they let one person in, it was clear that it was not allowed and the CM was not following the rules. If you have the extra money to use on extra days why not just add the park hopper instead of spending the money on the extra days and then having to buy the park hopper? :confused3

I have just started wearing my new shoes to break them in for our trip. They are a little stiff right now. I hope they break in good and I don't have any issues with them. lol

I've said that a couple of times on here... :upsidedow I guess some people just are show me kinds. :confused3

Less than 34 DAY LEFT FOR MY FAMILY!!!! :dance3:

I haven't even started packing. I have bought some clothes though. We are doing a lot of signature meals so I bought cute outfits that can be work around the parks if we decide to go back out after dinner. I just need to find a pair of riding boots that are cute and comfy in brown.

I started looking at things for the kids for our Dec trip though. I love getting them little things here for cheap and then surprising them when we are there. Cuts down on them wanting a bunch of stuff. Since its just DH and I on the March trip no need to gather that stuff.

For those that are looking for your kids though I always have luck at Michaels, Targets dollar section, and dollar trees finding little things. Also Disney store online has park stuff so I can get some of the stuff we would get there just spaced out a bit.

I was coming in here to ask how early peopel start packing, but I see i am not the only one impatient to get started. I haven't actually packed anythign except our toiletries bag because we always keep it loaded and just add trip specific stuff.
I am wearing my new shoes for the trip rigth now even though it is cold outside because I want these babies good and broken in.
I have piles all around my house of different things. I need to finish getting ponchos, sunglasses, and beachtowels for those of us who don't have them and then I think i will be done with buying things. I have bought a lot fo different disney souviener type things to take so our daughters won't be tem, pted to spend thier money on the small stuff. We are givinging them each a $50 Disney Gift card to spend. :figment::goofy::simba::donald::ccat::dumbo::tigger::mickeyjum

Someone remind me--I know you can't get Disney Dollars at the Disney Store anymore, but are they still available at the parks? This worked out great for the kids last time to buy their souvenirs. (They could actually see how much money they had left in their hands...as opposed to a gift card.) I was pretty bummed when I learned that the Disney Store didn't have them anymore, I would have stocked up! Santa and the Tooth Fairy brought some last time and we gave the kids a portion of their allowance as Disney Dollars as well. So, once we got the the parks the kids knew their DD were all that they had to spend and once they were gone, they were gone. No whining/begging for anything!

We will be at AKV-Kidani on March 6th. I can't believe it's almost here! It's me, DS5, mom, dad, niece18 and her BFF. Let the countdown begin....

I'm so happy to find this thread! My DH and I have talked about going to WDW with the kids for years and years and the timing just never was right. In January I just decided one day that there is no more pushing it off...we are GOING!! I booked out trip for a family suite at ASMu for DH and I and our three kids, who have never been on an airplane, let alone WDW!! I haven't been to WDW since I was 5 and all I remember is the It's a Small World ride and I vaguely remember some fireworks. We are going 3/22 - 3/27. I really wish we could stay a night or two longer, but the kids' Spring Break doesn't start until 3/30, so they will already be missing 5 days of school and hubby will need to get back to work. So it is what it is! We are just so pumped to finally be going! My momther is also going with us and has her own room at ASMu. My kids are so happy that Memaw is coming along for the magic! Now just hoping that no one gets ill before we go and for nice weather. Of course, we live in nothern Minnesota, so anything over freezing will feel nice to us! :woohoo:

There is a small group of people who are going to be at CSR at the same time so maybe we could meet up at the Pepper Market or someplace at the resort. I won't be available the 6th because we check out early to head to Ft Myers for a Red Sox game. But the rest of you could meet on the 6th.

I'm up for it.... We are having a pool day on Friday March 5th we have dinner ressies at Cape May so if anyone is around the afternoon I will be there or later on that night!

Sure, I'd be happy to meet up, as long as no one minds my little boy.. he has autism, and doesn't act right all the time. I'm not sure how much I'll be able to visit properly, for having to run after him, but I'm sure I'd be very grateful for the adult interaction!

That is not an issue for us I am sure he will be just fine. Do you want to meet by the Pool? I think that way they have something to do while us Diser's meet.

Well OK lets just have anyone who is interested try to be at the Dig Site pool during the afternoon on Friday March 5th. Come when you can and hopefully you will get to meet someone. And wear a lime green Mickey head so we can identify each other.

Oh you early packers!! :lmao: I will probably start packing a couple days beforehand and finish up the day before we leave.

A suggestion as to footwear. I have worn all types of footwear at Disney over the years and I've found that the most comfortable, versatile footwear to choose is LLBean Explorer Sandals. They are water proof, but not plasticy, they're comfortable and go with carpi's, shorts and skirts. I love them. My husband and son wear Keens which have a simliar style. I can't wear Keen's because they run too wide for me slightly narrow feet. Crocs are also a bit wide for me, feels like I'm wearing boats on my feet, but they work too. The problem with Cros, though, is that they really don't look great with all outfits like the Explorer sandals do. Both Keens and Explorer Sandals are on the pricey side, but its well worth the expenditure. One year I packed a dozen pairs of socks, but somehow forgot my tennis shoes that went with the socks. I had a pair of Ked's mule style slip on tennis shoes and flip flops. After all the walking we did, my calves were so sore I could barely move. I ended up buying some tennis shoes with Mickey on them at MouseGear at EPCOT. The price was about $25.00, so not too bad, but the problem... no 1/2 sizes. I bought a 1/2 size up. They are a little big, but considering how badly my feet hurt. I didn't care. The motion that your feet make when walking fast while wearing clog style slip-ons and flip flops, in order ton keep the shoes from flying off your feet, puts strain on certain calf muscles. You don't notice this right away, but after 3 days.... :headache:
