*OFFICIAL MARCH 2010 THREAD* - Lets countdown together!

I just realized something...

As of tomorrow, we can all say WE'RE GOING TO DISNEY NEXT MONTH!:cool1:

:dancer::dancer::dancer:

That is too funny, as I was taking my girls to the bus stop this morning I had mentioned that we will be going to Disney next month, eventhough it is technically still a month and a half away, but they really don't know the difference :goodvibes. They were still jumping up and down with joy.

I am so excited I am going to start washing and packing today. Up to now I have just been gathering LOL. So we are officially 26 days away from our trip and we are all about to explode. :cheer2::dance3::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

You are lucky, I haven't even started collecting yet. I do have a couple of things sitting in a pile in my room, but I need to buy the girls new bathing suits, clothes for myself and the girls, and any little things that I can buy and put to the side (vanity bag items). I also did order myself a pair of Disney crocks the other day to wear in Disney :cool1:, I paid $14.99 with free shipping and no tax for them....better than the $29.99 ones that Disney wants for the same exact shoe.

Do you all know about Lime Green Mickey Heads? Disboard fanatics use lime green mickey heads to identify each other. You can put them on T-shirts, flags, luggage tags etc. The simplest way is to go to Home Depot and pick up some of the Disney paint chips. they're mickey heads. I think the color might be called Alien green. You can use those to make luggage tags. Just laminate them in clear contact paper and put a binder ring or keyring through it.

Oh, I am so going to do that !! :thumbsup2

:banana::banana: We're going to Disneyworld next month ! :banana::banana:

I think I'm going to get some of those and put it on our stroller. That is an awesome idea!!!

I never even realized that we can say we are going next month!!! Its so not going fast enough. I am almost scared to hope it gets here quick because I don't want the time we are there to fly by too fast.

:love:
I am seriously SO excited! We booked our trip to Disney!!!

It will be just my husband and I this trip!
Me (Wendy) age 37. I've been visiting Disney since the 2nd grade!
Husband (Dave) age 38. He has been visiting since Junior year in high school when his school band marched in the afternoon parade.

(we have a 17 year old daughter that we have been bringing to Disney since she was 18 months old but she will not be going on this trip. She is spending her senior year interning at a professional theater company and they only got one week off at Christmas....poor baby. It will be her first time staying home alone too!)

We have been to Walt Disney World too many times to count...have stayed off site in hotels and rental homes, on site in Ft Wilderness homes and in tents on the campsite, Pop Century, All Star Movies, All Star Sports and Port Orleans. We have also been to Disneyland and Disneyland Paris/Parc' Disneyland. Our favorite time to visit is during Christmas and New Years. We have been just about every month of the year ;) Our last trip was August 2008, we surpised our daughter with a trip for her 16th birthday. When our daughter was young we homeschooled her and we were able to go to Disney 2-4 times a year for long trips...high school and a very busy theater hobby has made it impossible to fit in a trip until now.

Hubby Dave and I originally had planned to stay at the newly refurbished Holiday Inn located in Downtown Disney. We got a great rate of $74 a night and decided to stay for 4 nights. We planned the trip in March and had to plan around plays that we were involved in. My husband acts, and I design hair and makeup. THEN Disney announced the special deal where you got a Disney Gift Card if you booked 5 nights! So we played around with the $$amounts and compared staying at Holiday Inn and a value resort. Since we won't need a rental car we had to weigh the cost of a Mears Shuttle and extra night at the Holiday Inn. After MUCH examination we realized that if we added a night we actually MADE $100 because of the $300 gift card we would get at check in at a value resort.

So we switched our reservations around and booked 5 nights at All Star Music from March 22-27th. We aren't sure we are going to park hop so we bought 8 day Magic Your Way tickets (5 days in the parks) and 2 extra days in case we decide to park hop. Our flights work in our favor...we fly out at 9:25 on Monday morning and return home at 6:40 pm on Saturday. MGM is an evening extra magic hour the day we arrive so after checking into the hotel we plan to head right over and spend the afternoon and evening at MGM. (I know it as a new name...but MGM is easier to remember for me!)

We plan to use the $300 gift card on counter service meals and 2 ADR's. We booked breakfast at Polynesian's "Kona Cafe" for their DELICIOUS Tonga Toast and Macadamia Nut pancakes :) We also made ADR's for Cape May's dinner buffet. It is our favorite buffet other than Boma.

This trip we plan to take FULL advantage of the Extra Magic Hours...something we have avoided in the past because of larger crowds. Its more difficult to manuever when you have a large group to get up in the morning and normally we travel with daughter, at least 1 of her friends and several other family/friends. With just my husband and I going I know we will just go, go, go, go till we crash each evening!

(And this trip...I just ordered 2 pairs of CROCS to help us with sore feet lol!!)

I have so much more this year because we are driving down and since I am such a control freak I need to know I have EVERYTHING. I have to tell you we save some packing by buying warm weather clothes when we get down there because there is just nothing up here yet.

Paid off our trip last night! :woohoo: Now, the fun of packing begins. Still trying to lose those last few pounds as I am determined to fit into last year's capris. ;)

Time seems to be going by so slow for us! Cant wait for March to get here.
Just paid off our resort fees so now to arrive at the World!

First let me say Welcome to posting on the DIS!!! :welcome:

My second comment is for the bold part of your post... I am pretty sure that you can't use extra park tickets to go to more than one park in a day. I was planning on doing that, because if my family was to hop it would only be for like one day... so it was cheaper to get an extra day. But all of the awesome people on here informed me that it doesn't work that way. You can only go to one park per day UNLESS you have a park hopper. It does not matter if you have multiple days left on your park ticket, they won't let you use it. :sad2:

Ok funny story. Hubby and I have these friends who are veteran DIS fans. DVC, Timeshares, you name it. Well my friend has all these green mickey heads hanging on her purses, bags, around her house with her disboard screen name on it. I finally asked, SUE! What the heck are all these green Mickey heads everywhere? Yer seriously freaking me out! lolol She explained it was this board she belonged to called DIS boards, and when we plan our trip I should check it out. I thought to myself, I'll never take the kids to Disney, we'll never be in a place where we can afford that kind of vacation! Flash forward 3 years.... here I am. Planning our first trip. LOL!:laughing:
ps - paying off the vacation tonight! Just waiting for my awesome travel agent to call me back ....:lovestruc

Disneylover, my son has PDD - NOS. I so so so know what you mean, girl. let the chasing begin! It will be a blast though, because even though he sprints off and acts "odd" sometimes, hes incredibly happy and loves adventure so this will be a great trip for him. He's three and a half, how old is your little guy? What days are you gonna be there?:yay:

This is absolutely true. If you want to go to more than one park on any given day, you must have park hoppers to do. For your last 2 days, you can always upgrade to park hoppers when you get to WDW. However, my understanding is that the cost for the upgrade is the same whether you buy park hoppers for 8 days or 2 days.

So excited to be able to say WE GET TO GO TO DISNEY WORLD NEXT MONTH! Hooray! (It was the first thing I thought of this morning!):rotfl:

Hmmm....I have done this before...it has never been an issue. They just take another day off. Unless something has changed since my last trip. We normally have AP's but last few trips we just bought regular tickets and added a few days on the end just in case we park hopped.

Just got Mickey Mail :dance3::dance3::dance3:

So exciting to open the mail and see the Magical Express and package Info!:yay: Can't wait! :woohoo:

You were allowed to go to more than one park in a day WITHOUT having to purchase the hopper option?

I'm completely confused. Not only have I been told on this website, but also by my agent at DU, that if you do not have the hopper option, you will only be allowed in one park per day.

Am I missing something here?
