*OFFICIAL MARCH 2010 THREAD* - Lets countdown together!

I'm a pin collector. I do not trade my pins because I buy pins that commemorate something specific for me or my children. For instance, I have a pin for each resort we've stayed at. I have some DVC exclusive pins, one for favorite rides. I started buying my daughter pins each time she rides a "big kid" ride for the first time, such as Splash Mountain and Soarin'. She also has a special Tinkerbell pin that a cast member gave her, just for being so cute. There are special pins that you can only get randomly from cast members. They did this during Year of A Million Dreams. If you want to trade pins, just buy some pins that you won't be attached to and use those as traders. Cast members who are wearing a pin trading lanyard HAVE to trade with you if you ask. So, all you have to do is ask. I stopped wearing my lanyard because it got too heavy. Some of my 3D pins were heavy. I was there for Thanksgiving in 07 and got a special pin with Stitch putting a turkey in the oven. The oven keeps opening up.. and once I was running for the bus and several of my pins fell off. I discovered this just as the bus was pulling out. I immediately notified the bus drive and her dropped me back where I thought I lost the pins, and believe it or not, I found them. They rolled into a soda machine shelter (at the AK bus stops) as I was running by. I didn't even go in the soda shelter! :scared1: Anyway, the take-away is buy a package of locking pin-backs from any shop that sells pins. :goodvibes

Try Old navy!! Actually I am finding a lot of stores in South Jersey have out their flip flops already. I love my Ugg ones so I will be ordering a new pair of black ones soon. I guess I should get on that now since I have 42 days left.

I need some flip flops for my son, also. I will try Old navy, thanks ! :thumbsup2 And, I need to try on his summer shorts. Hope they fit !
I still need to buy my shoe organizer for our room.
I had bought some cute shorts at the end of summer for me, I can't wait
to wear them ! :lovestruc
And, I bought our crocs when they had the buy one get one free back in August/September.
I bought my daughter and I a mini messenger bag from Disney. com with tinkerbelle on it and our name !!
I have bought alot of stuff the last six months, so I wouldn't be stressing at the last minute before our trip.
But, now I really need to get a list going to see what I have missed.
Oh, how I love planning for WDW :cloud9: ..........................

Well I just had a wrench thrown in my plans!! I had been buying some cute clothes to go to WDW and now my sister is getting married in July and asked me to be in it and the dress is well lets just say I will be hitting the gym now. UGHHH so that means I will have to buy more clothes just what I want to do I hate clothes shopping.

I do the same thing. They have 'special' pins from our trips, places we've stayed, cruises, etc. But I also buy bulk pins off ebay just for them to trade. I don't have them wear their lanyards with the ones they want to keep just so they don't lose them (DD8 has lost one before). Instead I got them a book to keep their special ones in and they only take the ones to trade. Makes life a lot easier. :goodvibes

Oh, how I love planning for WDW :cloud9: ..........................

I have a collection of packing lists that I started more than 20 years ago. These lists include Disney trips, trips to the beach, cruises, even picnics. I have different versions of each list for different seasons. They're in the computer, so all I have to do when I'm planning a trip is take out the last copy of the list and I can edit it as needed. Over the years, diapers, wipes and baby equipment were added, then toddler, then removed... then added back. This way, each trip I do not have to go back and recreate the basics that I need for every trip. I also know that if I add something new, I won't forget it on the next trip. These lists are so handy.

I'm new to the boards. I've been planning this trip for about 6 months. We are going March 13-20! We are staying off site in a timeshare.

really? first grade? Its probably not that important. I doubt that you'll have much time to do homework.

Oh we have no plans of doing homework on the trip. :rotfl2: Ill just leave it on the table till we get home. She gets anxiety if she goes to school and her homework is not done. Im not sure how she is related to me. I was never like that. At least this way when we get home, she can dive into homework, which she loves doing, and get back to normal routine.

I too bought some pins to trade. I got 20 of them for 19 dollars on ebay. Im a pretty weathered ebayer, so I know how to navigate through the scammers. :banana:Since we are dealing with a 6 year old, I didn't get anything too fancy. Just a couple handfuls and a lanyard to trade for fun. She will treasure them since she is such a little collector. My son could care less. All he is going to want to do at Disney is see Buzz and Woody and jump in the fountains. He is completely fearless so as long as he is tall enough, he will go on anything. My daughter is much more apprehensive.

Welcome Janine!!! I'll be at the World the same time you will be there. Have a great vacation.

We will be there at the same time! We are driving down from Memphis - we usually fly, so it's a new adventure to us! We are staying at Port Orleans Riverside (1st time in a moderate....always in value resorts before....so looking forward to it!)

Today is my 45-day mark!

Today is my 45 day mark too, just paid our final payment earlier today. It feels "official" now! :yay:

My DD who is in the First grade is the same way with homework. As soon as she walks in the door she wants to get it done. Then she puts it in her back pack so she doesn't forget to take it to school. Which she has done before and then she called me to bring it to her. :confused3 The teacher is sending her journal with us and that will be her writing/language arts lesson each day. She is suppose to write down what we do each day and what she enjoyed most. She is looking forward to doing it too. I'm sure she will be pretty tired though, so I will be taking notes just as a reminder just in case she is sleeping at night.

How were the pins you got? That is a lot of pins for 19 dollars. I was thinking of buying single pins from some of the single sellers but they are usually around 1.49 each with 3.49 for shipping. Then that web site I mentioned earlier I can get 50 pins for 90 dollars with free shipping. I have seen those auctions on ebay that have 30 pins for 30 dollars but most of the names of the sellers are known for sending scrappers. I would hate for the kids to get to WDW and look forward to trading only to be turned away. I was bidding on someones private collection it was 12 pins and it sold for 35 dollars. I was shocked at that. I didn't bid over 20 dollars for the lot. The pin trading is so confusing getting good pins for cheap. Which I'm not sure how that should even be possible. But My kids will not be trading pins that are 8 or 9 dollars in the parks. If they buy any then they will be collecting them. Having them put them in a book sounds like a good idea. What kind of book did you use? Then they could collect each time we go and keep the ones they love at home.

Wow do I ramble or what? lol

So I got back from taking my kids to the busstop and it is Brrrrrrrrrr COLD outside!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! March 23rd can not come soon enough. I am sitting here wrapped up in my blanket with hot coffee in hand trying to stay warm, and all I can say is that I cannot wait for the Florida Sun. My DH looked at the weather report for Orlando this morning (he loves to torture me), and it is predicting mid 70's today, or as he put it, it is a bit chilly there today.....as I see it I will take mid 70's anyday compared to the 14 degrees that we are having today :scared1:

Oh yeah....I made the last of our ADRs yesterday. I am so excited, I have changed my ADRs more times than I really needed to, and we don't have that many :rotfl:. So here is my updated ADR list:

Tuesday 3/23: Arrival Day and dinner at O'hana at 8:10pm (first time eating here and VERY excited about it...could never get an ADR in the past)

Wednesday 3/24: Epcot--Breakfast at Cape May Cafe at 9:20am (family tradition and DD8's B-day celebration breakfast) and late lunch at Le Cellier 2:05pm (FIL's Retirement celebration lunch)

Thursday 3/25: MK--therefore we are doing CS meals all day long

Friday 3/26: Epcot--Early breakfast at Akershus at 8:05am (DD6 B-day celebration breakfast and another family tradition)

Saturday 3/27: DHS--Dinner at 50's Prime Time at 5:50pm

Sunday 3/28: ILs leave, then we get to go to MK until 2am...no ADRs for today :cheer2:

Monday 3/29: Departure Day but not until late at night so we head to DHS for the day....no ADRs made

The next thing on my agenda is to start buying new clothes for the girls and I to wear plus we all need new bathing suits :goodvibes

Off to do some shopping for our trip......

Bathing suit for DS
looking to see if I can find anything summer in this crazy cold weather.

I think I will be doing some outlet shopping when I get to Florida.

I actually want to do some Disney Outlet shopping when we go.:)
Does anyone know if there is more than one Disney Outlet store ?:confused3
And, where these might be ? .........................
When we go to Disneyland, we go to that outlet store, and gets lots of
souvenirs to take back home ! :cloud9:

We got our tickets in the mail last night! :wizard:Now it really feels real! We've got our timeshare booked, the tickets are in our hot little hands. We have our reservation for Cinderlla's Royal table and we are going to do the Pirate Adventure dinner show one night! pirate: Is it March yet?

Our schedule so far:

Sat 13 Arrive late
Sun 14 Magic Kingdom EMH
Mon 15 Epcot
Tue 16 Hollywood Studios/Fantasmic
Wed 17 Animal Kingdom
Thu 18 (Hanging with friends at the hotel this day)

Sat 20 Hollywood Studios/50's Prime Time Cafe
Sun 21 Baseball game/Magic Kingdom EMH
Mon 22 ??
Tue 23 ??
Wed 24 ??

I'm leaving the last three days open so the kids can decide which parks they want to revisit. If my daughter gets antsy about not being at Magic Kingdom enough (she really loves it) we may slide AK off to the end of the trip.

Our schedule is:
Sat 13 Arrive at the timeshare
Sun 14 Magic Kingdom
Mon 15 Animal Kingdom, dinner at the rainforest cafe
Tues 16 Magic Kingdom again, dinner at Cinderellas Royal Table
Wed 17 I need to make a reservation, we are thinking character breakfast somewhere and then spend the day at the resort
Thur 18 Hollywood Studios
Fri 19 Epcot Dinner at the Pirate Adventure
Sat hang out at the timeshare until we leave for home

Just wondering.....I was checking the WDW website and they don't have Wishes scheduled for 3 days, one of which is our arrival day (3/23). Could that be possible....could they really not schedule Wishes especially during peak Spring Break time????? or does anyone think that there is a glitch in the system :confused3. I am curious because on our arrival day I have O'hana for 8:10pm and was hoping to catch Wishes either while we are eating or after dinner out on the beach....I will be disappointed if there is no Wishes that night.
