"Official" March 09 thread Who Else???

I think it's hysterical how we all turn into 8 year olds when we see that mail come in!!!

 I did a literal :woohoo: with a little "Woo!" added in for good measure. Good thing DS3 was at school. I'd hate to explain to him why I was excited for a boring old work trip. ;)

Can't wait to get the luggage tags and travel docs!! :cloud9: :goodvibes

Just booked a last minute trip for March 17-23!! Staying off site at Best Western Lakeside with my DD15 and my mom!!

Wooooo Hooooo I love this...a place to vent my excitment without driving my friends nuts!!

We are going March 28th through April 4th and staying at POR!! This is our fourth March Disney vacation...we go every other year. We have stayed at 3 other resorts but never stayed at POR. We are counting down the days too!! We even made a Disney Countdown Calander (with some scapbooking materials) and the kids place a Disney sticker on each day at the end of that day so that the new number of days till we leave for Disney is revealed! 42 days to go!!! :yay:

March 24-26, staying at Pop Century. Adjoining rooms for the boys, and the deluxe dining plan, for a no worry - good time :cool1:

We will be in the FL area visiting my grandparents a few days prior to our disney arrival. We decided to add in disney as a test run for next year, when we hope to go for a full week. My boys are 2 & 5. Can't wait!

I have to ask this.....

Those us of with kids in public school....

what are you telling the teachers?

and how are the teachers reacting to you taking the kids out for a Disney Vacation?

My DD8's teacher was none too thrilled when we told her at the Parent/Teacher last week but as a parent, it is my perogative to take a NEEDED family vacation. I told her that all the work sent home would be completed and returned with my daughter when she returned to school the following monday. :teacher:

My other daughter is in Kindergarten, her work is just as important but not as hard ;)

I just wanted to see what y'all were doing in regards to that

Well, we're going over DD's spring break. She will miss one day of school, but I will just tell them she is out of town. No biggy. I've taken my kids out of school for Disney trips for years and have never had a problem. Usually it's just a day or two though. The last time we took them out for a whole week was when we went on the cruise in 05 when DD17 was a freshman and no one had a problem with it.

36 days!!! :yay: :yay:

I just booked us a hotel in Ocala for the night before our AKL stay so that we'll get a full day on our first day instead of a half day. Plus DH won't be tired from driving. We always say that we won't do that but we have for the last three trips.

We live in a family based community. We explained that we were going to Disney again. The teacher said she supports us for the family. That being said our child is only in K. He missed a bunch of days in September and now in March. When we return he can only miss two more. The teacher went on to say that because our child is SN she felt that summer school is a great way to keep the focus and routine. Yes, I am excited because we get to have summer school and it takes all the pressure off. It was a win/win for us.

I am also bringing writing and reading work, and all the homework they will give us. It is vacation but I don't want to come back to being too far behind.

My son is missing a whole week. But they will be excused absences. His school has a form you can fill out for "educational trips" and they count disney to be educational since there is a lot of that stuff at Epcot.

He has perfect attendence this year so far and is only in Kindergarten, so I am not worried about it at all!!!!!

We're going over spring break but we have taken them out of school before. Getting them to complete the missed homework is a given but it's the class time lost learning HOW to do it. If you're able to teach them, you'll be fine. I had one parent at my school write a note saying that her daughter would stay in at lunch recess everyday until she was caught up. I think they were expecting the teacher to give up her lunch to give the child private lessons!! My kids are in high school now and well, lets just say that my calculus skills are less than perfect! No more missed classes for them.

And can I just say 29 DAYS TO DISNEY!! WOOHOO!!
