*****Official (??) June 2014 Thread -- Party Like It's Hot!*****

:welcome: StarPinkTink!

(I know I haven't updated post #1 yet with new arrivals...but I will tonight or tomorrow!)

Name: tiffany
Travel Dates (if known): June 12-20
Where Will You Be Staying?: offsite condo
Travel Party: DH (34), me (33), DS (11), DD (6 months)
Current Location: Seattle
How Many Trips?: With my DH, this will be 3 to WDW and we've gone to DL 6 times (I think!). We've been together 10 years :lovestruc
Best Disney Story: I lived in California before I met my husband, so I've been to DL quite a bit. I loved bringing him the first time and seeing him fall in love with it. Now we can't stay away!! We went to WDW on our honeymoon (before continuing on to the Caribbean), and we celebrated our 1-year anniversary at DL. Then we finally started to bring kids with us, haha!
What do you look forward to most on your next trip? We will be surprising our DS with a scavenger hunt the night before we leave. He has no idea!! He has never been off the west coast, so he will be stoked. He is going to be blown away by the HUGEness of WDW compared to DL. I'm also looking forward to having our baby with us too. It's only fitting that this is our first family vacation with all of us, we can't wait!!!! :yay::yay::yay::yay:

The scavenger hunt sounds fun! We need to do some Disney nights over here... Hmm... Possibly going out for Chinese tonight, so we could watch Mulan when we get home... LOL

Thanks for the welcome! We are geeking out so excited. Because we are surprising DS, we have barely told anyone else about our trip, to be sure that it stays a secret from him. I'm grateful we have these boards to share our excitement on!! party:

Quick question... since we will need to do the rider swap on the "big" rides, what are the chances you think CMs will let DS ride twice? Once with the first parent while the other waits with baby, and then when the waiting parent gets to ride, do you think DS will be allowed to ride again instead of waiting parent being a single rider? We're not counting on it, but hopeful! :genie:

:rotfl:

So, no school nurse to "diagnose" and tell the parent to come get your child or else? I had one last year who didn't want to go home...and had to have another teacher come physically remove him to the office, to be told he had to go home. He came to get his stuff and stayed, and the office came back looking for him. His case of pink eye was BAD. "Naw, naw...I don't have pink eye...I'm...uh....tired.? I was accused yesterday of being high...you know my eyes are just naturally red...."

Well, by law, we do have a nurse, but they do other things. lol. Oddly, kids still "come" to school sick.... I'll have a kid say to me... sorry, i had to step away and go puke. or "sorry, I fell asleep. I'm sick today." I'm always like, go to bed!

You should be able to have DS ride with both parents every time. The policy allows that to happen. :)

When they get sent back to me sick, I always go to them jokingly and say
"Remember, if you are going to throw up, and you see me in front of you, turn to the side and throw up on (insert name) instead."
A little humor lightens some bad situations.

I have so many parent stories I could tell. I find that being an online teacher the "abuse" can reach a different level. Parents can hide behind a computer and spew out all sorts of things. Some days it gets to me... and other days I just laugh and be thankful that I am not that bad of a person.

I too am glad the school year is coming to an end, but I have tons to do before then. I'm one of those people who just keeps plugging away week by week. I won't figure out it is the end of the year until it happens. :)

But, then when it happens, I'll almost be at Disney. Surprises all around!

I'm a school Speech-language Pathologist, so I have to work harder and faster as the year comes to a close so I can get everything done. I work 80% (off Fridays), but I had to work a full day yesterday on my day off because I have so much to do before the end of the year. I always get a little jealous of regular teachers after EOGs because they all seem to relax and enjoy the last couple of weeks of school, whereas I'm more stressed than ever! I would NOT trade places with them though! I know I couldn't do what teachers do every day! Plus, if I have a really "difficult" child, I only have to keep him for 30 minutes at a time, whereas his regular teacher has him for the rest of the day!

God bless our teachers!

We got our Be Our Guest Fastpass+ invite today! Huzzah! :woohoo: I can see our ressie sitting there (on our anniversary) with our orders and it's *beautiful*.

How does this happen? Is it just a random invite?

Yup! My first day is the 7th. I counted from when I saw someone who got theirs 4 days ago whose first day was the 3rd, and was hoping I got one today- I did! The link works whether you get the invite or not, but there were some rumors that people who didn't have invites were turned away. Others have said that was not true- even up through the first week of May. I already used the link, but having the invite makes me super happy since it is a big trip for us and I was nervous! :scared: :thumbsup2

DS can absolutely go twice. The pass is good for up to 3 people and it doesn't matter who they are:) have fun!

I went back and forth about booking a FP for BOG without an invitation. I was going to wait and see. Then I decided to go ahead and book a time. I figured it was worth a try in case I never got an invite. We'd just have to stand in line anyway. Hopefully I do get the invitation though. We are going the second half of June.

We booked an early dinner (TS) one afternoon for our visit in late June. It was the only ADR available the entire week of our stay, and we booked this back in early February. It might be nice to go for lunch on another day, so an invite would be great.

Happy Mother's Day!

I took my mom (and dad) out to coffee after church (what she wanted) then picked up a Papa Murphy's pizza to cook and eat at home away from the crowded restaurants and watch a movie. My boys got me a Disney gift card. :goodvibes

Happy Mother's Day!

Countdown calendar is on the fridge, we were able to get FP+ for SDMT, and my checklists are ticking along! So excited!

Hello all! Hope you don't mind if I join in! I'm a newbie to the DISboard world. I will be taking my parents (mom is 53 and dad is 51) for their first ever Disney trip. This will be my (I'm 29) 4th trip. I wen once as a high school senior with our band and twice chaperoning that band trip. (I now teach at the school I graduated from). This will be my first time to stay at a resort. We are gearing up to decorate window, have characters sign a photo mat, the whole she-bang. I know I'm going to cry as I watch them have their names stitched in their first pair of Mickey ears. People say I'm crazy for always traveling with my parents or for not working 24/7 but my parents have sacrificed a lot for me and I want them to see and go places while they are able!
