I wish! No, quick trips to DLR maybe, but WDW is so much more expensive!!!- It has taken me 5 years to plan this one!

We think of DLR as a trip we will probably never make! It's just too far to drive to Cali and airfare for 6 of us is about half the cost of a 5 day trip to WDW (one that includes tickets and dining plan)!

That's what we thought about WDW! So, we drove down to DLR for vacations until the kids were in college and saved WDW just for us! Now we just have to pay for airfare and food for two! ;) Hopefully you'll get to DLR someday!

In addition to airfare back east, the room is twice as expensive as one we would stay in at DLR. Also, it seems like you really need two weeks at WDW, where as we only stay a week at DLR. So extra days at WDW adds to the room and food expense. It is doubtful if we will ever get to do this again. But you never know...

((Bear with me here people, my first post! :) ))

Name: Hope

Travel Dates (if known): June 26th-July 2nd

Where Will You Be Staying?: All-Star Music, i'm pretty sure!

Travel Party: Technically just myself and one of my best friends, but it's with my school's marching band group. We're tagging along, haha!

Current Location: Massachusetts

Favorite Disney Character: Goofy

Favorite Disney Movie: Does Monsters Inc./Monsters University count?

How Many Trips?: 5

On-Site or Off?: On-site

Best Disney Story: Well I remember in 2008 I went with my parents and my brother, and we stayed at the Wilderness Lodge. We pulled up our rental car for check-in and I remember as soon as my mother and I got out of the car, the bellhop came over to us and said, "Welcome home princess!" Really made my day :)

What do you look forward to most on your next trip?: Spending time with my friend, doing other things in parks that I don't usually do now that i'm an adult.

We didn't try to take an earlier trip, BUT we DID just get back in February and had not anticipated taking THIS trip. Lol! This trip is my "let me just run the numbers and SEE" trip that I never thought we'd actually take. I kept texting my husband with numbers and telling him to tell me to stop...only he didn't. Lol! So excited! 103 days to go!
We are starting to do this for a Christmas trip. :-). I have a feeling the dreaming will become more realistic after our trip had ended.
Hopefully we end up in your situation!

This trip started with a drive from Southern California to Florida for us, but then my wife purchased non-refundable plane tickets and settled the whole fly/drive debate. :-)
I agree with you, plane tickets are too expensive. My wife sure knows how to win a debate though!

I agree that WDW requires extra days. I figure the ideal vacation includes 2 MK days, 2 Epcot, 1 AK, 1 DHS , and 1 day off at minimum. However, if we ever made it to SoCal, we would have to do more outside Disney touring than we do at WDW, so 10 days would be a minimum, I think! I had never really felt that going to DLR was something I would want to do until I saw Saving Mr.Banks! I got totally caught up in the (albeit glamorized) Disney history! Really loved that movie. Especially the parts showing the collaborative work between the Sherman brothers :-)

Not that we would have driven but we looked at if we did, how much gas might cost, wear and tear on the car, and the hotel and food costs along the way. Those things cost a lot too. I like being able to bring what I want in a car though.

We are doing 4 park days, then one day off, then 4 more park days, then one day off. Then our last 2 days. We will visit each park at least 2 times, but will probably park hop in the evenings.

I still haven't seen that movie but plan to. DLR is so full of history which I love. I collect old pictures of DL from the 50's and 60's and have a bunch books about DL too. They also have a tour that lets you see Walt's apartment over the fire station.

We were going to do that tour last summer and then suddenly got an invitation out of the blue to Club 33! So, you can imagine any other plans went out the window! We got to eat in the trophy room before it was remodeled. Anyway, we do plan to do that tour someday.

We are doing the Keys to Kingdom tour at WDW this trip. Sounds corny, but I've always wanted to see the underground tunnels. :) I've also always wanted to go to Epcot. And now that I know the entire park isn't inside that giant ball, it seems even better! :rotfl2:

An entire theme park in a huge sphere... I would go see that!
The amusement park at Circus Circus in Las Vegas doesn't count... It is only a dome :-)

I used to think that when I was younger because the ads on tv always showed just the big ball. Then my mom told me Epcot had areas for different countries so I imagined each country having a little fair booth inside the ball. I also knew it had something to do with science and future which appealed to me but I didn't think about where that was.

I used to think the same thing!!! :rotfl2:

ETA I also pictured fair booths for the countries!

Put me in the sphere group. I remember watching it on the Disney channel when we first had the giant dish installed in the backyard....wow! Time sure has gone by. Remember when microwave cooking was new? :lmao:

My son was SHOCKED and I mean knock him over shocked :faint: when I told him we didn't have Netflix when I was kid. "How did you watch cartoons?" he ask me.

I think he thinks I am joking when I tell him that we use to have to watch commercials (not skip through them), listen to whatever was on the radio (not use the mp3s) and look out the windows in the car to keep us entertained. ::yes::

Oh how the times have changed....

Just got confirmation yesterday that our June trip is a go!!! 80 days from today I will be walking down main St! Just my DS7 and I!!! Can not wait!!! Also my first time going as a Certified disney Travel Agent so I am excited to do Magic bands and Fastpass+ for myself.

How about having to get up to turn the TV channel! :rotfl2:
