*****Official (??) June 2014 Thread -- Party Like It's Hot!*****

I'm here!' I'm here! Just signed up for the Facebook page as well! So excited to be joining all of you...this trip is an unexpected surprise and I am SO EXCITED to be planning again!

Here are the details:

Name: Malinda

Travel Dates (if known): 6/22-6/26 for our fifteenth anniversary...1st trip with no kids! (Which mostly I am excited about, but also a little sad about too...lol!)

Where Will You Be Staying?: Pop Century...this is a 1st as well. We usually stay at POR

Travel Party: Just DH (Jamie) and me. :)

Current Location: We live in Oklahoma...currently snowy and freezing. Ready for summer!!

Favorite Disney Character: Ummm...that's really hard?? Buzz maybe? Nope...can't pick. Lol!

Favorite Disney Movie: Toy Story (all of them)

How Many Trips?: This is our fourth trip to DW. We just got back in February from a 8 day trip with the kids and inlaws...which is why I don't feel quite so guilty leaving the kids at home.

On-Site or Off?: On site, but with a resort we have never tried.

Best Disney Story: I have lots, but I think my favorite happened during our first trip. My daughter had lost her autograph book during the third day of our trip. The only autograph she really cared about was Stitch's. We searched and searched on our remaining park days, but kept missing him. On our last day, we headed to SM to get fastpasses and there was STITCH just walking by. He grabbed my daughter by her hand and took us all off to the arcade, where they opened up all the games and my kids all got to play with Stitch. When I told his handler about the lost autograph book and the fact that Stitch was the ONLY character that my daughter wanted to have (and that this experience had just MADE our whole trip) the handler called over the CM working the arcade and they both began to scheme. She asked me if she could have my cell number for later in the day. I gave it to her, not sure what they were planning. After my kids had had their fill of games and hugs with Stitch, we headed on our way. A few hours later, I got a call from Stitch's handler, who asked me to meet her by Buzz Lightyear. We headed that way and out came Stitch from backstage, carrying a new autograph book for my daughter. It was filled with signatures from EVERY character you could think of. He looked through the book with her as other guests looked on. He took a ton of time with all of us (again) and just made our day. I can't tell you how surprise and excited we were. It was a most amazing and special experience that I can't imagine happening anywhere else. And that sold us on every Disney trip from then on. :) That level of caring by CMs who have never met us just made us feel so wonderful. I filled out special cards for all the CMs involved and I hope they got proper kudos. They surely gave us an experience that we will never forget.

What do you look forward to most on your next trip? This trip will be totally different without the kids. And we are trying completely new experiences. We are eating at our first signature restaurant (Citrocos). And since we were just there in Jan/Feb and rode everything numerous times, we are using this trip for some park tours we have always wanted to take. We are doing the Behind the Seeds Tour and the Marceline to Magic Kingdom tour. We are also planning to see Fantasmic for the first time. We always ending up leaving DHS early because my kids are worn out by the end of the day and fighting that crowd never seems appealing. With just the two of us, we can experience stuff we never wanted to battle before. Lol. I'm also looking forward to my first ride on TOT. I never wanted to ride it alone, so rider swap didn't work for that one. Lol!

Looking forward to "meeting" all of you!

Welcome!!! :yay: I LOVE your Best Disney Story!! How awesome was that for your daughter and your family! Hope you and your husband have an awesome trip...just the two of you!

Thanks so much! We are VERY excited! Even the kids are happy for us (I was a bit worried about that part...) and have said that as long as we are bringing back prizes (Minnie's bakeshop cookies have been requested) then they are great with the trip. They will have a few days with doting grandparents, so that's pretty darn close to Disney. :) BTW, I love your name! My youngest (who is five) is named Jane. :)

Thank you! One of my best friends named her youngest Jane. Was quite an honor! I know what you mean about feeling guilty leaving your kids. We have taken 4 Disney cruises with our kids. Last summer I decided to surprise my husband with a short 4 day cruise, just the 2 of us. We had never taken a vacation without them and I was feeling rather guilty. We had a wonderful time even though the kids were a little jealous.

So bummed! :( Just read that the people mover will be closed for rehab from May 3 - July 1. This is one of my favorite ways to relax at MK.

Is it really a huge difference between Hoop Dee Doo and Whispering Canyon? (Hoop Dee Doo uses 2 credits vs Whispering Canyon uses 1 credit) Is it really worth the difference??? Yes, we have 1900 Park Fare Dinner reserved already (can't wait):woohoo::cool1:
Hoop Dee Doo is a ton of fun! We also like Whispering Canyon. Do you have 1900 Park Fare for dinner? The step sisters are a hoot!

Me too!!! Totally bummed. Especially since DS won't ride SE with his big sister, so I was hoping he and I could chill on that while they hit SE....oh, well. :sad2:

Having that ride closed is a total drag! We all love it. Its great for relaxing, checking out Tomorrowland from above, and for high-fiving other riders!

Where in KY do you live? We are having a sleet, freezing rain, ice, and snow storm here in So IL. School was canceled earlier this evening. Love knowing ahead of time so we can sleep in!!:thumbsup2

Oak Grove. Tiny town nestled between Clarksville, TN and Hopkinsville, KY and in existence because of Ft Campbell.

They cancelled school around 3pm yesterday but it had been rumored on Friday before the storm came through. The hard part is how far north the county runs and how many of the homes are in the rural. Our housing development is in the middle of a farmer's land.

And I think we are out of school again tomorrow. We are making up classes through the first week of June.

Major bummer about the People Mover, but I guess we shouldn't whine too much. Just means make plans for another trip; eh?

One con to moving the trip to June would be the fact that there isn't any availability for the Wishes dessert party while we're there... :-/ don't really want to pay the price for the pirates and pals cruise...

Wah - I love the People Mover. It's a great way to cool off on a hot day and it's great to put your feet up.

Ugg I didn't know that about the people mover. Luckily I'll be going to MK on my last day (July 2) so I have to fit it in!

Oh No! That was probably one of the rides I was most looking forward to! I used to ride it at DL when I was little and it was one of my favorites. I was so excited to find out that WDW had it. Ugh! I'm so disappointed! :sad2:

I'm not going to say it will ruin my trip. ;) But I can't believe the one time I get to visit WDW, doubtful we will be back, and it's closed. Excuse me while I go have a small pity party for a few minutes.

Are you not still there on July 1st? I thought your trip overlapped into July, or am I confusing you with someone else? The ride should be running again in July

How you know we are Disney fans:

We still call it the "People Mover".

:cool2:

Haha, so true!!

Does anyone know of a reason why MK does not have EMH scheduled for the night of June 30th? (It's a Sunday) It doesn't look like an oversight as none of the calendars have it down for EMH that night. Just wondered if there is a reason as last year's corresponding Sunday night did have them scheduled.

Not a big deal but it will affect how we plan our next day so wondering if I need to be on 'standby' for them to be added or go with the plans we have without them. Any clues?

For some reason, I think I saw that they added an evening EMH for MK later in the week instead (closer to July 4th).

We are leaving on July 1st. Our plane leaves at 6:30pm but we don't have any park tickets left for that day. We will have used up all of our 10 day parkhoppers. I can't believe we'll miss it by one day! I don't think I can talk DH in to paying $200 more just to go in the MK and ride the People Mover! Especially since we paid over $300 on just one day last summer to add a day to our DLR trip and go to Club 33. Somehow I don't think he will view the People Mover as on the same level. :rotfl: Why do they only sell 10 day tickets??

We have always had more days there than ticket days, but used to buffer our park entry days because we went in the Fall and would do 2 or 3 parties so that gave us those extra access days without using up a park entry on our regular tickets. We don't have that luxury in the summer but I sucked it up and plumped for length of stay tickets this time. We are international and Disney International sells different tickets so we managed to get 21 days tix.

Let's hope they do a soft reopen of the People Mover on June 30th :cool1:

July 3rd isn't it?

Yes, they are doing it on July 3rd. It's just that last year they did both so I wondered. No matter. As long as they make their minds up and stick to it before I book my FP+ :rotfl:
