*****Official (??) June 2014 Thread -- Party Like It's Hot!*****

The parks are amazing in the rain! As long as it's not cold rain, or if you have a poncho. The crowds leave in droves and you get experiences like rainyday's EE marathon! Note on the ponchos: I like buying the 1 dollar variety at the Dollar Store or Walgreen's and then just tossing them when the rain stops. They come folded up super small, so you could buy many for 20 bucks ( the price of 2 WDW ponchos) and make them single use. I have never figured out how to easily carry 6 wet pieces of plastic anyway!

I keep seeing the big debate between many throw away ponchos vs nicer ones. We always carry a backpack with us so we could stuff wet ponchos in a plastic bag. :confused3 Still not sure which way to go.

PS: Hail to the Emporer! Long live Kuzco!

:rotfl2:

I had trouble finding them at the dollar store last time. We had to go to one of the big sporting goods stores -- I think we went to Academy Sports. We take enough that each of us has 2 (so, 6 here). 3 folded up in a gallon-sized ziploc, 3 left in the room. If we use them, when we take them off, they get folded up and stuffed back in the ziploc. When we get in, we hang them up to dry when we get back to the room, and take the spare set the next day. Rain two days in a row? Trade out when you get back.

Of course, I still like to have an umbrella...and we wear a hat (we all have glasses...)

Unless you are going to throw them out after one use, the Disney ponchos and umbrellas have a lifetime guarantee (I think). Go in, tell them it rip/tore/broke, and they'll usually replace the item. It probably works best if you have the receipt, but they certainly can't deny that it came from Disney.

BTW, worried about your smartphone getting wet? iPhones fit perfectly in a snack sized Ziploc, and you can still use them through the plastic. Carry a few extra bags for just in case (sometimes, plastic rips...), but, otherwise, good to go!

Where do you hang the ponchos? We have a hard enough time finding bathroom space to hang 6 wet bathing suits, much less 6 ponchos. Also we find even hung up things tend to stay damp. Any tips for that?

I'm sitting now here on hold with Disney Tours waiting to see if I can book a the Keys to the Kingdom tour. This could be a while...

There's only 3 of us, so it's not that bad. Might be better with so many to just toss, but I would take a handful of extra hangers. It might help? (Might not?). Such limited experience for me when it comes to a big group! ;)

Just booked!!!

What was I thinking???? Now I have to go back and re-visit all my ADRs. When I made them I was thinking the standard dining plan included 2 TS meals per day and 1 snack--crap! I booked 2 TS meals each day!! Now, I have to go back and see what I might want to move around. Darn, there are so many TS restaurants that I want to go to, probably more than our 10 day vacation will allow!! :lmao: What to do, what to do!! :confused3

Speaking of, the Fantasmic! Dinner package is not covered by a TS credit, is it?
You can tell I'm a newbie here!!

Hey, everyone! :wave

Look what I did!

The following links go to Google Docs. As long as you access these documents by the link, you can edit! Link 1 is the master list, same as what's on the first page. BTW...I don't have much information for the following people...if you want me to edit your information in, please let me know:
  1. Planning_fanatic_mom (just have you as POFQ, no dates)
  2. lorainfam (have June 18 - 28, but no resort)
  3. MyPeanut&Bug (only have check in of June 7 or 8)
  4. KStover (have POP and just June -- staying the whole month? :D)
  5. mamma23babies (only have a maybe of June 1)
  6. lauralarissa (only have 1st half of June)
  7. larie21 (have that your trip was booked, but no details)
  8. npierce25 (no info on trip)
  9. stasijane (only have most of June)
  10. Disneyvirg (no trip info...did I miss it??)
  11. figmentswife (no trip info....did I miss it??)
  12. joshsmom (did you decide on CBR or ASMo? I put you down for CBR on the google doc)
  13. MopGrad2013 (have dates June 14 - 21; no resort info)

Naturally, you do NOT have to provide anything, but if you'd like to meet anyone, it would help to line up everyone's dates and locations.

Link #2: Everything is lined up by resort, and I have it listed under each resort in order by date.

Most popular resort for us Junies? Port Orleans Riverside! 9 of us with plans for there, closely followed by 7 at French Quarter! (Hey...any staying towards the end of the month at Port Orleans want to try to plan a meet?) The next most popular resort is the Art of Animation with a current total of 5!

Link #3: ADRs. I have input my own, but I haven't gone back through (yet...) to pull info for everyone else. Of course...if you would like to add your own ADRs...that would be fab, too! :hippie: It is currently just by date, but would be nice to put times in order for each date (that's the OCD in me coming out, I suppose....)

Link #4: DisMeets! If you start finding out you're going to be in the same place at the same time...plan a DisMeet (I put us and PinkBudgie in as being in Via Napoli at the same time. :D)

I can also set one up in which we can say what park we'll be in on what day. Let me know if you'd be interested (would help in planning DisMeets).

I have added these links to post #1 as well

Would anyone like to do something like a photo challenge or anything like that? Any other ideas? Planning tips? Questions? :hyper:

Thank you so much for doing this. It's a great idea! I added my ADRs to the list. Can't wait to see others add theirs, too. :cool1:

:welcome: Mike Mouse! pixiedust:

How awesome to get married at Disney! I've often joked that, should I ever get married, a Disney wedding had to be part of the package! :cool1: I haven't gotten too many positive responses after that, but it's all been from my non-Disney friends.

52 is a huge group! You are blessed to have so many willing to go to Disney for your wedding! What day is the wedding on? (There's that temptation to say...can we come? :rotfl2:) But, you're going to be there long enough, you'll definitely overlap a lot of our trip plans...We can all be on the lookout for the newlyweds! :D

Thanks for all the welcomes everyone! :) I will for sure be looking for the facebook page. The wedding is on June 21st and after the dinner, we will be at magic Kingdom for the fireworks. I'm sure ill have a few questions for all your Disney veterans in here. First one I can think of is has anyone done the tomorrowland terrace fireworks dessert party? if so, do you get to pick your seating?

Thanks for your help!! :wave2:
I don't even have a dining plan booked yet, kinda waiting to see if any discounts come up. This whole dining plan has me a bit confused. So, since I don't have a dining plan selected yet, is that why I am being charged to book the Fantasmic! package, or is the price they are charging me just the cost of the show itself? Sorry....so many questions!!!

I am not sure!! I know that some of my reservations required a guarantee, which most accepted the dining plan as the guarantee. I know the show itself is included in your admission ticket.

It's a "special". There are certain reservations that you are charged for in advance unless you have a dining plan, and even then it has to be on the dining plan and you will have to do the credit card guarantee. ADRs for the Fantasmic package will cost the normal amount of credits for that restaurant, BUT if you are in regular DDP it is like an upgrade to deluxe for that meal.

To review...

QSDP - 2QS meals per person per night of stay

DDP - 1 QS, 1 TS per person per night of stay

DlxDP - 3 meal credits per person night of stay.

I think QS and DDP have 1 snack credit per day, and DlxDP has 2 ( per person per night of stay). All come with refillable mugs for the resort. All credits expire at midnight of the day you check out, so make sure you plan accordingly!

June 29- Undecided park day
June 30- The Wave Breakfast buffet 8am, MK
July 1- go home

I wanted to go to The Plaza at MK too but not sure where to fit it in. I know we will not need lunch after a full breakfast at The Wave. In fact, I don't want more than one TS in a day because I know we'll be full. At DLR we often will have an ice cream cone and call it a meal. That is why we are also not doing the dining plan. We just don't eat that much and we rarely get dessert with a meal.
I couldn't find anything that stood out to me TS wise at AK so just left that open. Maybe try Flame Tree BBQ. This is our first time at WDW so if anyone has any suggestions about anything I'm open. I really don't know what I'm doing, but we had to pick now so here it is.
