*****Official (??) June 2014 Thread -- Party Like It's Hot!*****

I wish you the best on this trip! Hope it doesn't become "tainted". I do a lot of stuff solo too and have always enjoyed eating alone. My mom doesn't understand how I can do it. She said it bothers her to eat by herself!

I think it's the feeling of being conspicuously alone, especially as a female but rationally I know that's silly.

The reason for the tainting of previous trips is not an issue any more so it is almost guaranteed I will have a fabulous time :cheer2:

FelineVintage, I wish you a wonderful solo trip! I've gone to the Magic Kingdom on my own for an afternoon while my travel friend did homework and it was a blast. I got to go on the rides she wouldn't do and even met some nice families who didn't mind chatting for a bit in line.

Thanks for the advice last night, DisneyMommy9. We are booked for three FP+-es early enough in the day for our MK and Epcot days that we might have a chance to get a fourth FP+ while at the parks! No A&E but we did get one for the Mine Train, plus times for Splash & Big Thunder which end right as the other begins so no dawdling. My TA friend knows and even suggested which headliners for MK to get. We're hoping to make MSEP, Mickey Mouse, Space Mountain or Peter Pan our other FastPass.

Hello fellow June travelers. 13 days to go here! Getting more anxious by the day.

The next item on my to do list is to arrange for grocery delivery. We're traveling from California so we are limited in our packing space. I want to get a case of water and a few snacks and breakfast items and we don't have a rental car. Does anyone have a recommendation on what company to use? There are so many choices.

I just placed my order with Garden Grocer. I've heard really good things from others that have used them. Plus it seemed like they had a great selection and decent prices.

10 days baby! :cool1:

I'm so ready to go because I keep making changes to my itinerary! :rotfl2:

:welcome: thetorit and FelineVintage!

Hi all! We just decided yesterday afternoon that we'd head to Disney next month, so I'm a little late to the group! This is my 4th trip - DH and I took our kids (DD5, DS2) on their (& DH's) first trip last August to celebrate DH's return from Afghanistan, and are surprising them this time because he's going to have to deploy again this fall. :( (For the record, they know about the deployment, not Disney.)
Our dates are June 14-19 @ ASMovies. We're planning on spending all but 1 day at MK - we planned visiting 1 park a day last trip but somehow always ended the night at MK. I'm incredibly excited about this trip and am already struggling keeping it secret! We're stationed at Ft Riley, KS, and are driving the 2 hours to Kansas City to have a Father's Day brunch with the in laws. When we leave to "go to our hotel" we're going to tell the kids that instead of staying in KC, they get to go back to WDW!
Super excited to be a part of this group! :cool1:

Boo at having to be deployed, but yay for the great family time before he has to go! Is it a full year or more or less?

Hello! Newbie to the forums and now this thread. I have literally just booked a fortnight offsite this morning! Last minute but I am so so excited.

Name: Shona
Travel Dates (if known): 04/06-18/06
Where Will You Be Staying?: Offsite
Travel Party: 1
Current Location: London, UK
Favorite Disney Character: Pooh
Favorite Disney Movie: Nope, don't know off the top of my head!
How Many Trips?: 3, this is my 4th
On-Site or Off?: Off
Best Disney Story: Let's see if I can make one this trip.
What do you look forward to most on your next trip? Just the sheer joy of being there again after so long.

So I'm a female solo traveller, staying offsite. I have travelled alone numerous times before including moving to New Zealand alone on two occasions so I'm not worried at all about that aspect. I'm still not great at eating alone but can do it and will no doubt get over it after a couple of goes again!

Not hiring a car, can't justify the expense on my own when you include petrol and parking charges and given that I live in London, waiting on buses is not a new or tedious pursuit.

I haven't ever done a theme park on my own though but on previous trips with family I was the baby and often ended up queuing on my own for rides as my older brother and step brothers would be off doing their own thing and my mum and step-dad had no desire to be shook up like a milkshake so I'm actually really looking forward to the solo park aspect a lot. Also, not to bum everyone out or go into detail, my previous trips are a bit tainted and I don't have a lot of memory recollection so this is an opportunity to put all that right after what has been a very rough year for me.

I have just about everything sorted already, it may be last minute but I am super organised! Just the little bits and bobs left to sort out like plasters, safety pins etc. Got everything else ordered. Oh and hopefully making myself some more clothes for the trip, had to order a new sewing machine as my old one has decided not to play the game, that's very last minute indeed!

So hi and thanks for having me :wave2:

I think if you go with the flow (and you're definitely there long enough for it) and vow to not let the unhappiness of those around you bring down your mood, it will be an awesome trip for you! No one with you to hold you back, slow you down, or make you feel guilty if you want to do something and they don't...sounds like the start to what could truly be a great trip. (I'd love to go solo once...and have rode things alone and wandered a bit alone, but I'd feel guilty if I went without my daughter.)

In other news...We got our Mickey Mail the other day. (So I was told....I haven't actually seen it yet....) Yesterday was our last day to customize our magic bands, so hopefully they'll be here soon. Class Night is coming together, although I've got to find a version of this song that's karaoke or figure out how to drop/reduce the vocals. There's rumor that they might show some appreciation (potentially with Amazon and/or Disney gift cards...!) And, in a week...they'll be graduated! :cheer2: Best news of all!

DD16 has taken the AP Human Geography and all but one EOC (End of Course) exam. So the testing has completed! Even though school still has 9 more days.

I did my FP+ choices last night. Then I woke with swollen eyes and a pink one. Uh oh. It seems to be fatigue and pollen. Slept almost all day. Ok, it's not real sleeping with a 3 year old in the house. I had a washrag over my eyes and DS brought me his pirate eye patch. pirate: It's much better this evening.

PinkBudgie--noticed you'll be in MK the same day we are. We'll be at Crystal Palace and then going over for the Flag Retreat. I hope you and your DH have a wonderful dessert party.

FelineVintage--Good for you on making the trip.

Thetorit--My good friend is at Ft. Riley. We went when DH was part of the MTT/BTT. Way too many round abouts. Planning a trip to Kansas in August, but don't believe the post is on the itinerary.

Those of you already having exams and end of year stuff are making me antsy! :hourglass

Granted we had our joint theatre/choir production Monday and now we just gotta prep for various banquets. Graduation isnt until first Friday in June and then it's just a couple weeks till DISNEY!!!! I've been posting new threads left and right asking for advice since this is my first onsite trip.

Im just SOOO nervous and want everything perfect for my parents' first ever Disney trip. I dont want them thinking it's boring or a waste of money or anything.:sad::sad::sad::(:(:(:(

Your welcome! Glad you got what you wanted. I am hoping to get Peter Pan and Wishes as 4th fast passes! Can't wait!

Anyone planning on booking a bounce-back?

No, way too expensive for a quick return trip. This may be a once in a life time thing. If we absolutely love WDW, then maybe in another 5 years or so. For July 2015 it is back to Disneyland. I'm afraid to see what their APs will cost by that time. But at least I'll be able to tell DH "It's cheaper than a trip to WDW!"

Thank you! I'm single and technically childless (don't tell the cats!) so no guilt
other than leaving the cats behind but they've got a friend of mine coming to hang out with them so I know they'll be well looked after.

Just been to the £1 shop this morning for some basic bits and bobs, including washer and dryer sheets. The washer sheets are a new discovery for me, didn't even know they existed until this forum told me and then I didn't think they existed in the UK, happy to see I was wrong and I could get them for next to nothing!

On the planning front, I'm pretty relaxed and laid back and was planning on doing the parks the way we did back in the day, just rock up and go with the flow especially as I have plenty of days to do each main park twice but now with everyone else furiously booking FP and ADRs I'm wondering if I should at least try to do some planning?

9 days to go!! It's going quickly:) I'm still debating on the Feel the Force package. I have it but I'm worried we will be disappointed with it. I hope to pack our bags this weekend. Time to pull out the Disney box!

I take out the Disney Box from time to time because I like to unpack it, lay everything out and look at it :rotfl: And then pack it all back again and feel like I've accomplished something ...... Does your Disney Box have a 'Vacation Smell' to it? I associate mine with Disney and DD and I always refer to "Aaaaah, the Disney Smell" :lmao:

Anyone planning on booking a bounce-back?

Probably. We'll be upgrading to annual passes. Dh and I want to do Food & Wine without the kids, but that will probably be only one night and leave pretty early the next day (the baby is still nursing). I also want to do MNSSHP which we'll probably make into a weekend. We'll probably also do an early December weekend stay. I would like to do another weekend for my birthday in February, but we'll be making day trips too, I think.
