Welcome David! When most people ask me how hot it is in June in Orlando I usually respond by saying "it's not that bad." However, I am from NW FL and the heat is second nature to me, since you are from Maine I would prepare for the heat as much as you can. It's very humid and hot with frequent (albeit fast) downpours/thunderstorms. The storms can cool everything down a bit but then the humid punches you in the face so you switch out one for the other. Just be prepared to sweat! Wear light clothing, purchase a misting fan (much cheaper at Walmart/Target than buying on property), and look into getting a Frogg Toggs Chilly Pad. I haven't used the chilly pad yet, we're getting one for this trip but I've only read positive things about them. With all that said, June is better than August IMO. Hope you have fun! If you have more questions through them out there. This group in the June thread are awesome at helping! Enjoy!

Hot enough to spring for one of these:

Note to self: Remember to bring this with next trip!

We didn't really watch the weather in 2011, so I don't know the temps, but probably mid 90's. We still remember sitting in Epcot and hearing a little British girl (in her cute accent) say, "Daaadddy, it's TOOOOOO hot!" We quoted her a lot after that.

We felt hottest in Epcot World Showcase. MK seemed fine, maybe because of attractions being closer together.

I agree, EPCOT can be the worst! There's just no shade and the sun beats down relentlessly there. On the other side, Animal Kingdom almost has too much shade and gets hot because all of the shrubbery traps the humidity in. Morning in the AK is great though. MK is by far the best, there are always places with AC or shade to duck into.

Just had to announce we finally booked our flight for the trip! :cool1: United is the only airline that flies direct to Orlando so we got a 10am flight that arrives at 6:18pm. I'm hoping we can get to Earl of Sandwich for dinner that night, but don't know if it will be too late by the time we get there. Coming home our flight is at 6:30pm so it will be nice not to have to rush in the morning.

And we got our Chilly Pads. Now we just have to figure out what else to bring!

What do you look forward to most on your next trip? celebrating Father's Day with my husband & brother, my sisters birthday and my nieces birthday!! Family time!!

Yes. I got it in the mail. When I was about 180 days out they sent a package with a USB that explained how FP+ works. The magnet was in the back if the book that came in that package. It has Dumbo on it and important dates.

Ah. So we may not get one since we went through AAA. We don't get the package in the mail. :)

Based on our research, especially through easyWDW.com, we are expecting highs around 90, and lows around 70 (at night). It can get that hot and humid here in Maine, but usually only for a short period of time. I had never heard of the chilly pads, a great idea. Amazon has a few options. Can I assume 1 for each of us, or do they loose there ability to chill overtime?

That may be correct. My mom recently went over Christmas and she went through AAA and didn't get one either. Seems like they would still send one to every person staying on site though.

Your research is definitely correct. It's sad how much I'm looking forward to that heat. We just got about 7 inches of snow here in NC and I hate it. I kept telling my husband that I was ready to be in sweat drenching heat...I'm sure I'll eat my words later. :)

As far as the chilly pads go, everything I've read says that they don't lose their chill. They work for years and are machine washable. You simply rewet it and wring it out to "recharge" it and then it works for hours. You many not even need to buy two. We are just getting one and cutting it into two strips. I've read about tons of people doing this and it doesn't effect the pad at all. They are quite large so cutting it works quite well apparently. If I remember correctly they are 18"x33" which is plenty big. I've also read by multiple people to make sure you get the Frogg Toggs brand and not another because the others don't work near as well. You can buy them at Walmart too. I priced them here last week and they were $12 on Amazon but only $10 at Walmart and you don't have to worry about shipping. They can be found in the workout equipment section. Use the money you save on not buying a second and get yourself a couple Dole Whips in the MK at Aloha Isle. They will also cool you off and are DELICIOUS!

Yes, I've heard about the winter weather in NC. My brother-in-law and family now live there, moving from RI. He is amazed how freaked out people get over the snow, understandably so. Thank you for the ideas about the chilly pads. I'll definitely scout out Walmart.

Best Disney Story: It's DL but here goes: At MNSSHP 2008 my DD was 4 and Jasmine is/was her fav princess, Jasmine was there with Aurora and we missed the line to meet her at the top of the Boardwalk, DD was really disappointed but just wanted to say hi, so we went to the exit and told the CM we knew we missed out but my DD wanted to see them on the way out and knew we couldn't get a turn. Well they saw DD waiting and the princesses brought DD into the meeting area, gave her extra attention and then each took her by the hand and around to two trick or treat stations and loaded up her candy bag. It was pure Disney Magic!!

Another "I'm new to June" question for you awesome, helpful people! Someone already answered my general rain question. My next one is, is EVENING rain typical in early June? (We're going June 6th - 14th.)

The only things we're worried about are the Main Street Electrical Parade, Wishes, Fantasmic! and the Spirit of Aloha show. We love IllumiNations but we've done it enough that it's not much of an issue.

Thanks in advance!

It's not out of the realm of possibility but I've been June at least 5 times before and don't ever remember being rained out in the evening. The only time it ever happened to me was in April. But it is FL weather so who knows.

Thanks for the quick response! I'm trying to be as flexible as possible with this trip, and to remind myself, "Oh, well, if (fill in the blank) is rained out, we can try to catch it another night."

This is our first Summer trip but we were rained out (and I use that term very loosely) twice during fireworks. I say 'loosely' because although there was a typical Florida, almighty downpour that sent many scattering for the exits, the fireworks continued. I was unwell and ran for cover but DD stood outside in sheer delight watching Wishes with water pouring over her. So if you have ponchos, it's fine. The parade is a different story but they will just delay it if necessary.

We made a huge rain mistake when we went in 2010. Had a perfect spot in front of the castle. It started to sprinkle, then picked up. Not down pour, but steady. We didnt carry our ponchos. Clouds were building deeper with distant flashes.

We picked up and left...only to have the rain stop when we were at busstop.

I am in the 60's - 69 days!!!! Till April trip, 114 till June trip
