I was at AAA yesterday and was told over the last few weeks or so they are having a very hard time getting final documents, etc from Disney. One of their agents was very aggravated and on the phone with Disney trying to figure out what to do for a family that was leaving this week and still hadn't gotten their stuff.

I had a very nice CM however my documents were lost in the mail and she told me they would resend them. I asked what happens if I dont get them in time and she told me to create my own ME tags and then call them and let them know what they look like so ME could identify them :confused3, I thought that was weird lol. I have noticed there is a wide range of timelines of when people on here are receiving there Mickey Mail, some over a month a way and somebody else just received theirs at 2 weeks out.

Great bags!!! The first one was the original one that I wanted. The only problem is that I bought the bag for our WDW trip. I had to have a crossbody b/c I have a history of leaving non-crossbody bags at restaurants. With the crossbody, I can keep it on while we are eating and I don't leave it behind. My DH would be really really angry at me if I left a bag behind while at WDW and someone took it. He still complains that I left behind a huge bag of WDW souvenirs at the MCO airport and that was in October 2006.

I had this bag, but I found it hard to get stuff out of it, using one hand. I have a 4 and a 6 year old (the oldest just turned 6 today!!) and so I rarely have 2 free hands so I have to be able to reach in and get what I need one handed. Because of that I got rid of it :( It didn't seem make much sense to keep it when I wouldn't be using it, especially with all the moving we do (my husband is Army), the last thing I need is unnecessary things to pack!

The only one I take into the parks is the smaller pink one and that's just in the evenings after dinner. During the day I have my backpack because of our water, ponchos, my camera etc.. too much stuff for a purse :rolleyes1

I'm so sorry someone took your bag :sad2:

You're right the bag is a bottomless pit but I love the design. I tried using it for work but it's too big. The black barrel one with the Mickey balloons is the perfect size. More than enough room without being too big and has several smaller pockets inside. This is the bag I use most often.

Well looks like I won't be taking it after all. The DH doesn't even want it coming on vacation with us. He wants to take a back pack and make the oldest DS carry it. That way we can stick all of the water bottles in it, and bring a ziplock baggie to put the camera in for when we ride a water ride. Do they even make zip lock baggies that big? Would a gallon size fit it?

Yup that's what we bring the gallon size freezer bags. They will hold 2 water bottles for DD and I. You could try to fit more or just use 2 freezer bags. I bring the gallon and quart size both are great not only for the parks but for packing items as well. Even though our bathroom bag is lined I still place our shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion or any liquid I think might leak into the freezer bags before placing them into the bathroom bag.

Did online check-in last night...now today we are in the single digits!

Time to start really getting serious about packing! lol

So excited for you!! I've been counting down to my online check-in, haha!! I always try to pack early, but it never fails that I'll be packing either at midnight the night before my flight leaves, or the morning of the flight if i have an afternoon flight.

Good luck on your packing!:goodvibes

That what I'm afraid of. We'll already have the sunblock on and then add another smell on top of that. I guess it's better than coming home sunburn with bug bites all over us.

I totally forgot about the Mios that I bought. I'll have to buy a few more though b/c these have been open for a while, and I'm not sure how long they are good for once you have opened them.

Mine does too. What I hate is that my hair slowly slips out of the hole during the day. It's mostly the hair close to my neck. When I have to take the hat off to put the hair back in a pony through the hole, my hair that is under the hat is so wet it looks like I took a showe, but the rest is dry. But then if I take

We'll probably end up going both ways. On the way there we'll go from the Justin, TX, through Arkansas to Mepmphis, and down to Winfield. Then from Winfield we'll detour through GA straight down to WDW. On the way home we'll go from Cocoa Beach, over to Gulf Port, AL and then up to Shreveport back to Justin. I just don't want to go the same way there and home. I think it'll make the drive home seem longer.

I hope it does go by quickly.....in a way. I want it to hurry up and be time for vacation, but then part of me doesn't want this school year to be over. Our oldest DS, my little 4 pound baby (well he started out that small, but is now 5'10") will be a Freshman this next school year. I just don't know if I'm ready for my baby to be in high school. We leave on vacation in 13 days and we arrive at the Pop for check in in 16 days.

Yeah, I don't want to be sunburned or bug bitten. I am allergic to mosquito bites and they make huge welts on my skin until I take Benadryl or use the ointment...need to remember to get benadryl ointment in case of a bite, because Benadryl tablets make me super sleepy.

The mio is good for a month after opening, but they don't last that long at our house :rotfl:

My hair is a super short bob and off my neck. I got it cut this weekend and had her take a little extra off, so it wouldn't be grown out by the time our trip gets here.

Right now, I'm in the countdown for the in-laws to get here, 10 days, DH to get home, 12 days, and then the trip, 16 days.

It was run, run, run all weekend, between post and home, but Dh and I got a little more time together before they left. He called me last night and he is miserable, they are out in the middle of nowhere, he said that town doesn't even have a Walmart. They have them set up to sleep in bunk beds in a high school gym, men on one side, women on the other with a curtain between the areas, then there are some Navy, Air Force, and Marines there too. They have them bunking in classrooms surrounding the gym. He was worried, because they weren't even supposed to be able to do laundry for 12 days, but he said they had set up some washers and dryers in an upstairs are for them.

I have so much to do in the next 10 days, but at least next weekend is a 3 day weekend.

I'm going to side with your DH, I wouldn't take a laptop either. I have one 8G SD card and have used that over several trips and still have several hundred pictures available, guess I don't take many. I'm not even sure I will take my camera this time, since Dh will take his and I think my MIL has a really nice, expensive camera, she can share her pictures. The last 2 times I have taken my camera, I have broken it, one beyond repair and I just got my new one back because I dropped it in January.

ok, I just thought about this b/c I was trying to figure out what time to go see my fil in the hospital today. The soap at the hospital is really what made me think of this question. How bad does the soap in the park bathrooms at WDW smell? I'm really picky about the smell of the soap I use when I wash my hands. The soap at the hospital (and my school) both smell so bad that I end up using lotion or my B&BW hand sani after I wash my hands to get the stinky smell off. Will I need to make sure I have some B&BW hand sani with me or lotion when we go to the parks?

Omgoodness, I am the same way about soap, I hate the way that pump soap smells. Luckily the hospital where I work doesn't use that horrible smelling soap.

I have never had any issue with soap at the parks or anywhere else at WDW. I don't even recall it having any smell. It's a nice foamy soap, too.

I know I'm late responding to this but better late than never right!:upsidedow
We have stayed at CBR 2 times and have enjoyed it both times. We chose to stay in preferred location and was not far from bus stops or the food court. Buses were fairly regular except the day we decided to go to Epcot. Only park where we had to wait awhile for bus. But it's really a very pretty place. Hope this helps.

Dh didn't want me to change it. We haven't stayed at Pop in awhile and that's where he wanted his parents to stay for their first visit just like we did for our first visit. I said ok, since he hasn't had any other requests.

I can't remember what brand it is, but there is a 2 gallon ziploc bag, I love those, but they are hard to find, I think Target is the only place that has them.

I have this one and love it, I got it with a huge discount on the Disney Shopping website last summer.

I want this one, but can't see me getting it for $235

1000812

I would also like to have the 55th Anniversary Messenger bag, but it's $255. I don't like to pay over $100 for a purse. I wish they had a line of Vera Bradley's, then I would have a dozen of them.

You all are killing my willpower! I have always wanted a D & B bag but managed to hold back! I really love seeing them BUT $$$........pictures make me want one so badly!

Suzanne - Sounds like your DH is actually a bit better off than he expected which means he might come home in a better mood, right?

Whenever I see those 2 gallon bags I buy multiple boxes so I have at least 3 boxes right now. I used to live out of them when I went on my 5 day rafting trips. They were lifesavers. I also use the eBags packing bags that zip closed for sorting my items out.

I used to live on the Crystal Light White Grape drink packets which are hard to find nowadays but now DH has me drinking the Ocean Spray "White Cran-Peach" which is really good! I haven't tried Mio because I'm afraid it might spill once opened.

We must be related somehow Suzanne because I drop cameras too! My first expensive 35mm camera in the 1970s I dropped on concrete! No more good cameras for me for many years until 2004!

Then on our trip in December 2011 I dropped my Canon dSLR on the floor in The Wave on the tile and it stopped focusing. That was early in our trip and I ended up using my back-up camera which was so disappointing. I had to send my dSLR in for repair just like you did and really haven't used it much so I am out of practice. Thank goodness I had an extended warranty! They say these warranties are not worth it but mine certainly has been worth every penny!

Good news is that my Disney Rewards Visa card came last week complete with the castle logo! I love it!

And I too am counting on this coming weekend to get some real packing done since the weekend before I leave I have many social obligations and almost no packing time.

And I got my hair trimmed short too for the trip and Florida heat and humidity!

Guess I have few excuses now to avoid going down to the basement and picking through the travel supplies to find ponchos and small travel containers etc.

Catch you all later!

Kathy

I didn't even think about the Benadryl ointment. I really need to get some to put in the First Aid Kit that I made up for the minivan anyway.

Well I bought the ones that I have just after they got into stores, so it's way over the month they are good after opening. DH has decided that we are going to take a cooler with us, so we don't have to buy drinks on the road. We are going to go to Chick-fil-A the day before we leave and get some lemonade to drink on the road. He'll just put it in a travel mug to drink. He can't have sodas b/c he had lap band several years ago.

My hair is a super short bob and off my neck. I got it cut this weekend and had her take a little extra off, so it wouldn't be grown out by the time our trip gets here.
I think my DH would literally shoot me if I cut my hair that short. This last time I cut it, it was just barely longer than my shoulders and now is long enough that I can reach around (like I'm scratching my back) and grab the ends of my hair. To him my hair is "boyishly short". When I had it cut, I did it b/c I was tired of sitting on my hair everytime I sat down.

Right now, I'm in the countdown for the in-laws to get here, 10 days, DH to get home, 12 days, and then the trip, 16 days.

Hopefully time will fly for him too. I'm glad that y'all got to spend some time together before he had to leave out. Sometimes, if my DH and I have to talk about something we don't want anyone else in the house listening in on, we'll take one of the cars to a cars wash and talk while we're gone.
Our oldest DS still says he wants to go into the military. He asked me one day which was my favorite military branch. Not thinking why he was asking, I said the Marines b/c they have the best looking dress uniforms. I later found out he was asking me b/c he was trying to decide which branch he wanted to go into. My DH is trying to convince he to go into the Air Force instead. Then the youngest DS saw a tv with my fil about a Navy bomb squad in Afganistan, and he wants to go into the Navy and do that. I'm fine with that, if that's what they truly want to do, but since they are only 13 & 14 they may change their minds before they get old enough to enlist.

I have so much to do in the next 10 days, but at least next weekend is a 3 day weekend.
I don't know about you, but it seems the closer we get to leaving, the more I need to get done.

Well now the DH is giving me problems about taking our camera. We've always had the small point and shoot, can fit in your jeans pocket, digital cameras. Well this one is a little buklier than that. I keep tellinghim that I bought it specifically for a WDW trip, but he's still not happy about it.

Omgoodness, I am the same way about soap, I hate the way that pump soap smells. Luckily the hospital where I work doesn't use that horrible smelling soap.

ok, that's good to know. That'll be one less thing that I have to stick in the backpack.

I can't remember what brand it is, but there is a 2 gallon ziploc bag, I love those, but they are hard to find, I think Target is the only place that has them.
I may have to make a special trip to Target if the camera won't fit in the gallon size bags at Wal Mart, or Wal Mart doesn't have the 2 gallon ones.

Officially less than 1 month until we leave! WooHoo! :cool1:
CONGRATS!!!

Hopefully everyone is having a good day!! Things are way better here. My DH is doing so well that they talked about getting him into a regular room tonight, but the hospitalist (used to be our primary doctor before he closed his practice) wants to keep him in ICU one more night for observation. Tomorrow he'll be in a regular room and hopefully he'll be home before the end of the week.

Now the DH is giving me trouble about when his "Royal Highness" would like to get out of bed. He is refusing to step his little toes out of bed before 10 AM. Then again, I guess if we stay in the parks late, it won't be that bad.

I didn't even think about the Benadryl ointment. I really need to get some to put in the First Aid Kit that I made up for the minivan anyway.

I know I will end up forgetting the benadryl cream, but I have to say, I can't recall ever being bitten by anything at WDW in all the trips we have taken, it's weird. That is the only ointment they didn't have at the Commissary.

We'll take a cooler, because I will freeze bottles of water before we leave home and I don't want them to completely thaw out before we get there. I don't know what I will do without my sweet tea for several days, guess I will drink a ton before we leave so I don't miss it. I'll mostly drink water at WDW though and gatorade, because I have to drink that to replenish myself being out in the sun, water isn't enough.

My Dh has no say in how I wear my hair, although he likes to tell me he wants me to wear it longer, not happening. My grandmother wouldn't let me cut my hair when I was growing up, until I reached high school, then when I went to college and was doing my medical assisting courses, it had to be off my neck, so I cut it off and now I keep it that way. It's so much easier to deal with, just wash and go. I did grow it out the year we were married, so I could have a nice updo, a month later and it was chopped off again.

I don't know that I would ever encourage anyone to go into the service. I was glad that DH was getting out shortly after we met, I couldn't move all over the place. The Reserves is a good fit for him and for us both. Have you seen the new Army Blues? They are oh so nice, Dh just got measured for his, I cna't wait to see him in them, I think I will melt just thinking about it :faint:

I still have alot to get done before the in-laws get here, alot of picking up and laundry, dishes and vacuuming. I'm afraid it won't be spotless, I just don't have the time or will power to get it that clean after a full day at work.

We will be up and at'em every morning, Disney is the only place I have no objection to getting up early, then midday nap so we can stay out late into the evening. MK is open until 2 am on my birthday, although we probably won't stay that late, we still want to make it to DHS early on Saturday morning, unless we get over there on Friday for some of the SWW stuff.

They may not be that far off ;) I graduated highschool early and went into the Navy at 17. Best choice I ever made :)

I'm sorry, i mean no disrespect, and I really debated about posting this, but it was just nagging at me, so I decided to post and get it off my chest.

I find it sad that you would not encourage anyone to join the service. I know it is not a life for everyone, but it must be doing you and your husband some good, or he would still not be in.

I feel as though people (not you specificly) in general feel like the military is for those who have no other options. I can tell you from expieriance this is not true. There are those who join becuase they would be deadbeats otherwise, but there are those who do it because they feel a dedication to their country, yearn for a sense of purpose, genuinely enjoy the job. It becomes so much more than a uniform and a paycheck.

Like I said before, I know it's not for everyone, and I appreciate that your husband is doing his duty in the reserves. I hope I haven't offended, but I've said my piece and now I will get off my soapbox.

Gatorade....something else I totally forgot that I want tor bring.

Well I kind of made this deal with my DH. He used to shave his hair, used a 0 on the hair shaver thingy. To me, he looked like a Neo-Nazi and I couldn't stand it. Our agreement was that I would keep my hair long, if he let his hair grow out some. I was keeping it down to my bum b/c that's how long he liked it, but not ever again. I get enough headaches from my blood pressure, I'm done having them b/c of long hair.

We will be up and at'em every morning, Disney is the only place I have no objection to getting up early, then midday nap so we can stay out late into the evening. We are not really morning people. DH keep saying that he is on vacation and getting up at the crack of dawn in no vacation to him. We will be heading over to DHS on Friday the 8th just to look at the SWW merch tents after we get done with our Chef Mickey's late breakfast. Then we'll be heading out to Cocoa Beach.

They may not be that far off ;) I graduated highschool early and went into the Navy at 17. Best choice I ever made :)
Don't even say that. The oldest will be a Freshman next year and I am just not ready for it. My fil is ex-Navy, the bil and sil are both ex-Army. The bil is trying to talk him out of going into any military branch. He didn't have a good experience in the Army. I don't know if it was b/c of his job, but he was a MP.
