***Official June, 2012! Hot, hot, hot!!!***

I'm so glad that it is so close. I looked it up on a map and it doesn't look far at all. Your birthday is the day that we are leaving WDW. We're having a late lunch at Chef Mickey's and then spending the rest of the day hanging out on Cocoa Beach.

Yes, it is really close. Right now, all that I have planned for my birthday is breakfast at Crystal Palace and dinner at Raglan Rd, whatever happens in between happens, but we are going to close down MK at like 1am. Oh, and I have my birthday shirt I made in 2009 that I am going to wear!

I just keep getting more and more excited about our trip!! I wanted us to spend a night on the way down there at Gulf Shores, AL b/c I went there with my parents as a child several times. I didn't get a ressie in Gulf Shores, but on Orange Beach which is just down from Gulf Shores. I guess it'll have to be close enough. Unless I can find somethin on the beach actually in Gulf Shores. Now, I'm just a little worries about the drive. According to Google maps, it's an 8 hour drive and we'll have the time zone change. I just hope we make it to Orlando in time to check in and get to DTD for our Ragland Road dinner ressie.

Is it 8 hours from Gulf Shores? It has to be more than that. Seems like it anyway. I would allow more than that. And I am nut sure where on I10 the time changes to EST. I know it's at least 1.5 hours from Tallahassee to I75. I know the Western Beltway cuts out a good bit, so that does make a difference. We even go that way to stay at the HI, because I knew getting into Orlando at 5pm we would hit evening rush hour. I don't envy you one bit.

Sounds like a good birthday. We are planning on going in January. While there our youngest DS and I will both have our birthdays. I am spending mine at the MK. Since they don't know about that trip, I asked him and his brother if they could spend a birthday at WDW, which park would they want to be at for the day. They didn't think anything of it, since we always do "what would you rather do questions. You know like, would you rather give up bacon or chocolate for the rest of your life, or in the zombie apocalypse would you rather have a shot gun or a x-bow. They both agreed that they would want to spend the day at Epcot. Mainly, so they could ride Mission: Space over and over.

We'll actually be in Orange Beach, AL. I couldn't find anything on the beach in Gulf Shores. There was on hotel that was across the road from the beach, but I wanted directly on the beach. I looked up directions on mapquest and from the Orange Beach, AL hotel to the HI in Lake Buena Vista, FL it's exactly 485.58 miles and is showing to be 7 hrs 32 mins. Luckily, we will be doing this on a Sunday, so hopefully there will be no 5 PM traffic.

We are actually staying at VWL from 5/28-6/4 and AKV-Kidani from 6/4-6/5

The date and resort change has been made. I must have written it down wrong.

Sure am getting anxious to get to WDW. Trying to get things on Ebay today for extra money - hoping to be able to book a couple more table service restaurants. Right now we have Crystal Palace Breakfast on my Birthday and 1900 Park Fare Dinner for DGD Abygail's 5th Birthday. Hate missing the Liberty Tree Tavern so that is my goal today, is make enough money to cover reservations there. We pay for all our vacations with Ebay money but with my husband being an accountant & CFO during tax season I don't usually list items as I am busy helping him.

Yeah, I'll be at WDW (or so I keep telling myself), what could be better! My hubby gets tickets to Talladega for his birthday, I get a few days at WDW, it might not be even pricewise, but it sure does help when I'm sitting there being sprayed with track trash...lol.

We might make it over to Epcot, not sure, since Test Track will be closed. Dh and I have waterpark fun and more options left, somehow, I would love to make my way over to Blizzard Beach, we have never been to either waterpark

Orange Beach, you did say that. We haven't been that far south. We were just down in Foley 2 weeks ago, but didn't make it further south than that. I hope mapquest is right, we find that they over estimate, so it may have, it just seems longer to me than that. The farthest west we have been off I10 is Destin, we're about 4 hours from there, otherwise, we go take Ga 520 to I75, that would be out of the way for you.

I think traveling on a Sunday will be better and when we originally planned our trip, we were travelling on Sunday, then we added a day, then another. We were also supposed to leave town earlier than we did. We normally leave home around 12 or 1am and drive thru the night, we probably will in June, it's cooler and traffic is lighter.

Isn't Talladega a NASCAR track, or am I thinking of something else. :confused3 I can open the inlaws fron door and see the Texas Motor Speedway. In fact, we are close enough to hear the crashes when they happen, and hear the cars mak laps around the track. I know when the blue port-o-potties are put up in the parking lots, traffic is going to get bad.:lmao: We didn't leave the water park option on our tickets. We're only going to be in the parks 4 days. Since we haven't been since 2006, I don't want to use any park time for the waterparks.

I hope it's right, but we may have to cancel it. I know it's bad to do this, but I was going to use school money to pay for the non-WDW part of our trip. If I don't take a full 12 hours, then I can get the rest of the money in a refund. Well normally I would have it all this week, but the school changed how they did refunds this semester. Now they are telling me that I should get the rest of the money in the 1st or 2nd week of May. It's just so frustrating!!!:headache: I finally got the issue of what time the DSs would get out of school and now this one pops up.

Yes, Talladega is a NASCAR track and we have front row seats, :scared1: it's right up there with Daytona. We are about 2.5 hours away from there, we are closer to Atlanta, but my hubby says Talladega is better...go figure!

My husband would love to be that close to the track, not me. I try to enjoy it for him, and we go in October when it isn't quite as hot, it's in May this year.

We added the WPF&M to our military tickets in January, since it was only $27 for 4 entitlements, we went to DQ and I have 3 entries left, DH has 2, I just really want to go to a waterpark even for a few hours.

I hate all the uncertainties. Well, I did find out that DH wasn't chosen to deploy and he says we are going to WDW, he doesnt care what they say at work...soooo come n June!

Ok, I posed this question on the FB group.

Which waterpark would you go to with 4 adults, ages 33 and up?

Ugh... I live a town over from Bristol Motor Speedway. We just stay far, FAR away from that are when the races are in town. Of course, then the local University is stupid and always has move in weekend the SAME weekend as the fall race (the night race if I remember correctly)... this is known as "if you didn't get your hotel a year ago, you won't have one. Sorry parents moving their freshman in!" weekend.

Gee would that college be VIC? I went there and race weekend was great...when you're in college, but once I got out and lived in the area (Bluff City) I avoided Bristol at ALL costs. lol

ETSU actually. Then you also usually have a HUGE and popular neighborhood garage sale at the Tree Streets which makes traffic even worse!

I'm going to nickle and dime my husband to death without him realizing it on this trip...I booked the Pirates and Pals firework voyage for our last night!! So excited!!

Now if only I could get a Free Dining pin or something to help me when it's time to show DH the cost of this vacation ;)

I hate it!! The traffic is terrible. We don't even leave the house on race day. They have two big races a year and oddly enough one is usually around my dad's birthday and the other around my fil's birthday. My inlaws have joked about renting out their house race weekend and staying at a hotel. Now that they have so much money in parts for their appliance repair business, they can't do that. At the TSM they have a building with condos and business in it. When the TSM was first open, the DH had a job in that building. We got to go to a cart-type race for free b/c we could sit where he worked and watch it.
So, this may be a really dumb question, but what is a DQ? I'm sure it's not Dairy Queen, like I was thinking when I first read that.

WOO HOO :dance3::banana: I was just talking to my DH about y'all last night. Something about the fact that your DH would have to be redeployed so soon just got on my nerves. I didn't tell my DH what I said you should tell the person that makes that decision. Before I could tell him he said, "you should tell her to go up to the person that makes that decision and say 'Listen here Mr. Army-man, my husband is going to Disney World with me and nobody messes with my Disney trip' while she's giving him an evil go to heck look. Then he was like, "that guy must be an idiot for even thinking about messing with her Disney trip and deserves any wrath he gets from her if he does."
The thing is, this is the first time we were going to use that money like this. Like the first time in about 12-13 years. My DH started school in early 1999 and I started school when he ran out of money for his last class to get his 2nd Master's degree.

We just leave the house as little as possible the week leading up to the race. The day of, we don't leave the house unless we have no other choice. My inlaws used to try and be away for those weekends, but then noticed they would always come home about the time the races were letting out.

My husband tells me this morning that he may be able to go on the WDW vacation. He won't know until Mid May. I should be excited but instead I responded REALLY!!!!!! now I need to change dining reservations to add one person and well need another room. We have a 2 bedroom condo but my daughter and her 3 kids are taking the King room, 2 other daughters and their 2 children the 2-bed bedroom and My oldest and I were going to sleep on the hide a bed. I'm not sure he understands how much work it is to organize a WDW vacation.

Well, I think I'm gonna have some husband job for lunch, he talked to another boss who said he couldn't be off because someone on day shift is off, that has nothing to do with him, he is on night shift. This guy just tries to make my husband's life miserable, because of his military duty and it just ruffles my feathers.

I just want some concrete answers, a trip like this is not one you can just cancel at the very last minute, there are deadlines.

Will adding him to the ADRs cause y'all to have to go up to a bigger table, where it could cause you to not be able to have the same times that you have now? I hope your able to work it all out. Some people just don't realize how much work goes into planning a WDW trip. What would be a minor no biggy change on any other trip, can be a big deal on a WDW one.

Sounds like someone has a little bit of power, and must have had someone in the Army kick his rear end in the past, and he's taking it out on your DH. Is this person the only person that can make that decision, or is there someone else he could talk to. If you were closer to be, I would come and be your back up when you explain to this guy what a pathetic waste of oxygen he is.

You know, sometimes it's the smallest odd thing that gets you excited about a WDW trip again. I have ordered several things for our trip online. Today, I got the Body Glide anti-chaffing balm. For some reason, each time I get something, it makes the trip seem more real.

I know what you mean. Last time i was in WalMart they were putting out a display of Sunscreen and that "I'm going to Disney World" feeling came over. We use sunscreen all the time but it just makes me think of WDW.

The DGD's clothes has been coming in too. My daughter's like to coordinate the girls on the trip - not Disney specific clothes - but matching anyway. Think there is one more order to come in and then I hope they are done. I have some Gymbo Bucks I will use next month to pick up some of the accessories to the outfits the girls bought this month.

I have a merchandice card to the Disney store that I want to use for something for our trip. I'm just not usually any where near a Disney store.

I use Disney cards on line, but I don't know what a merchandise card is - I mean if it is the same as a gift card. I am so anxious about this trip. The girls got skorts, shirt and sandles with a frog on it, I hope I can get them the purse to match but refuse to pay regular price for accessories. They each got several things but I love the frog one.
