Official JUNE 2009 Thread!!!

We have never been in June, but usually go in August when the rates drop on the hotel. The heat shouldn't bother us after going in August for years. Now that they have extended the buy 4 get 3 free deal, we could go in August and stay at a Deluxe for just a little more, but since this is a bonus for us, dh isn't excited about just a little more. LOL

How are the lines during the 21st thru 28th? I joined TGM, but cannot get logged in. I am waiting for his plan to come out.

Help!

We're going June 5-13th - AKV 2BR Concierge

Bringing 20 yr old nephew and also my brother * sil - it will be there first trip to the world so I am so very excited to be able to show them.

Needless to say I am on OCDVP overdrive

Lines can be long. A good touring plan and lots of patience is a must. EHM are helpful. Also, if you accept the fact that you won't see everything, you should be fine. We use FP all the time. We don't mind criss-crossing the park in order to get a FP for later. In fact, we would rather do that then wait in line. We have stumbled across some amazing things.

Case in point, We were backtracking from getting EE FP when we saw DEVINE for the first time. If we had stayed on the other side of the park instead of going to get the FP for later, we would not have seen her.

So, yes, lines can be long but with a plan, you should be fine.

We are going with my hubby, dad and mom  We are staying at POP from June 24th till July 1st. CAN NOT WAIT!!!! :cheer2: princess:

I'm also waiting waiting, waiting for June hrs. I've got a prelim plan based on the May EMH's that I'll adjust when they do get posted. I actually tried to squeak in a Chef Mickey ADR a few days after the June 19 cut off since I'm going for the earliest booking and didn't think it would make a difference to getting to rope drop, but no go. Have to wait until March 23.

Hey, I just remembered that on the DIS "planning" section there are the historical hours, and maybe the June hours would be more accurate than the May hours. I think the park hours switch to later hours in general for June, and May doesn't have this reflected.. I used last June as my "model" vs. May... might help answer some questions. It will be interesting to see as of this weekend, what the actual June hours are! They should be up March 1, right? :yay:

Dh asks me almost eveyday if it is June yet :lmao: I know your kids do this, but does your spouse or SO bug you to death about it? I don't know what he will do once May rolls around :scared1:

I need some help, where would you choose to go for your birthday breakfast? I will be celebrating my 36th with the mouse and can't decide where to go for breakfast. I know it won't be O'hana, I have had too much O'hana for awhile.

If your lucky, they will be up March 1st. I think you might do alright looking at the historical hours. I haven't even looked at May. I am afraid that the park won't be open as late as I like it to be in June. Nothing like being in the MK until 3am on your birthday.

We have decided to play it by ear and do what we want to do when we get up in the morning, except on my birthday and I get to decided what we do that day, so it will probably be the only planned day of our trip.

BTW, what is the best morning to visit one of the water parks? We will be down from Sat to Sat

Re DH, no. He is mildly amused at my Disney obsession. He actually likes that I organize the whole thing and the only thing he has to do is pay the bill. :rotfl: My kids, well it is a surprise this trip. We went in Nov and it was announced, and they were very excited, but this trip will reveal itself in June, right before we leave.

The B-day boys are all the boys in my family, DH and 2 DS (3 & 6 who turn 4& 7). So the B-day breakfast we are not doing, but I do have a CRT lunch ressie for my Husband's b-day (actually the day) as a gag. I couldn't think of a better funny moment for him of all people -- My DH celebrating his 38th B-day with Cinderella!:lmao: my two little guys will love this too, I sense. I don't know breakfast options very well, but I do think the Grand Floridian Cafe looks nice -- we are going to try that while the two DS's are on the pirate cruise. Maybe ask the restaurant thread?

Re park hours, they looked pretty late to me on the sample they showed, similar to spring break hours. This was regular park hours, not the EMH... I know we will be going for EMH at MK in the am, and trying to stay clear of the others on their EMH days..re the waterpark, not sure. Only been there in October of 2005 -- so not a good judge. might be good question to ask on the Park Strategies page?!

My husband is like a little boy. I make the trips and pay for them and he happily tags along. This is new for him, not so sure I like the "Is it time yet" thing. He is bugging me to death. We don't have children, guess that is a good thing, I couldn't take it from him and children, too :rotfl2:

I praise you, I couldn't keep a secret that long. I just have to tell somebody

I love the character breakfasts, and we loved 1900 Park Fare in Dec, so I am thinking about that, but we haven't done Cape May Cafe Breakfast or Donald's Breakfast at AK. We don't are too much for alot of the food at the other meals, especially with it hot. We have the QS dining plan for that reason, but a Character breakfast has become a tradition.

I like late. I prefer the parks at night, not so fond of Morning EMH. I don't like to get up early. I work 2nd shift so I am used to sleeping until 10 am and staying up until 1 or 2 in the morning, so June works out well for that. We haven't been for a week in June, only a few days at a time, but with the special I couldn't resist.

Suzzanne--When are you going to WDW? I don't remember seeing you put that ;)

AFter the year I have had so far in my classroom, the lines will be doable. I just cannot wait to see the signs for it on 95. That alone will make me cry with joy!!! Recession??? Oh yeah, but Disney is our happy place. :)

Hi all!! This is my first post so pardon the length :) Love the DIS boards. We just booked our first trip to Disney as a family. I'm the only one in the family who has been to DW and that was in 1985 (DH, DD8, DS2).
We are going to stay @ PORiverside from June 8-15. This trip is a bday gift for my DD8. She's so excited. (But...I think I'm secretly more excited than her:rotfl: )
I'm also a planner. I bought the UG 2009 and already have a binder that's ridiculously Type A with menus, directions, packing lists etc. Everyone (including my DH) is making fun of me asking why I can't just "wing it."
Thanks for all the info posted here. Can't wait for June!!!

Well, welcome...Glad you're here by the way. And I bought the 2009 UG too...haven't read it in a while b/c I've been busy with a lot of stuff going on. But as we get closer to time I'll be doing more planning.

Help!

We are going June 21 to June 28 too! Right now we are booked at POP. We usually do a moderate but my son wanted to stay there for the huge icons and bowling pin pool! Maybe we will run into you sometime!

Almost time for hours to come out! I hope they are available on 3-1

For all the binder people , would anyone mind taking some pics of your binder and showing ? I know weird request but up to now I have no organization and would love a visual as well as what works for you.

So I think we covered rain, but just to clarify. Basically it does not rain for long periods of time right ? We were there the end of July early Aug. and it rained every day for no more then 30 min. I will be thrilled if it works out this way again. People cleared out like crazy!
