Ugh! So frustrated! Totally OT, but since a lot of us are teachers I thought I'd vent here. Our district just let us know which days we're being furloughed this year (thanks to our wonderful state government and it's refusal to fund education :rolleyes1) Three of the 5 days are teacher work days right before school starts and then the last teacher work day in June. Now come on.....a furlough day means you're not getting paid, you don't have to come. However, by picking these days in which we HAVE to be there to get our classrooms prepared and torn down, they've basically said you're not getting paid, and you still have to come :rolleyes1 Grrr!!!

ETA: I just noticed the other 2 days were the Thursday and Friday before MLK Monday (which we already had off.) Wait!?!? A 5 day weekend in January........Disney OFF SEASON.........who wants to help me convince my DH that we need another mini-trip in January!?!? :) :) :)

I will try my best to remember!

Thanks:goodvibes No worries if you forget or don't get time. I know you'll have bigger things on your mind  Just thought I'd mention it if you happen to get a chance. Have a BLAST!!! :goodvibes

Is this the Verizon thingie??? I am going to get that when we get there. So what have you posted here..... because usually ride wait times have 5 min, 10, 15 min. these seem really precise. Please explain. :goodvibes

The app is from Touring plans.com (unofficial guide's companion site); it is called Lines. (I use it on my iTouch, but it is available for verizon. I posted all of this info from the website: m.touringplans.com. (I have a log in.) From what I understand it constantly calculates estimated times based on what others have entered.

These are the reported wait times as of 11:11 MK:
Magic Carpets of Aladdin < 1 min. ago by Darkprod
40 min.Space Mountain 22 min. ago by ronantinori
5 min.Pirates of the Caribbean 23 min. ago by dmcd
10 min.Haunted Mansion 24 min. ago by Darkprod
5 min. It's a Small World 25 min. ago by Darkprod
30 min.Peter Pan's Flight 25 min. ago by Darkprod
20 min.Winnie the Pooh 28 min. ago by Darkprod
20 min.Tomorrowland Speedway 28 min. ago by Darkprod
5 min.Magic Carpets of Aladdin 29 min. ago by dmcd
20 min.Tomorrowland Speedway 31 min. ago by Darkprod
40 min.Space Mountain 33 min. ago by Darkprod
35 min.Astro Orbiter 33 min. ago by Darkprod
20 min.Buzz Lightyear 40 min. ago by ronantinori
5 min.Jungle Cruise 44 min. ago by dmcd
10 min.Buzz Lightyear 54 min. ago by Darkprod
5 min.Stitch's Great Escape 54 min. ago by Darkprod
0 min.Pirates of the Caribbean 9:21pm by ronantinori
0 min.Pirates of the Caribbean 9:06pm by ronantinori

All of the reported times match Disney's normal 5 min interval. I think the Estimated Times that I posted before use an equation. (The way UG determines all of their other ratings.)

- DS competed in forms today at Nationals and he came in 2nd Place!!! He had to compete his form 6 times - There were 23 kids in his division! He only lost to the gold medal winner! I am so proud of him! Tomorrow he competes in point sparring. Then bright and early Sunday we are on our way to WDW!
Congrats to your son!!!

That is frustrating! I think a Jan. trip is certainly in order! (MK weekend is supposedly crowded - but it can't be like July, right?)

Just went to see Eclipse. It was awesome. A bit disapointed that they decided to go by really fast about Rosalie and Jasper's past. But overall, very good!

Heading to the airport in a half hour! Have a wonderful holiday weekend everyone! Be safe in all your travels! :thumbsup2 :woohoo:

At this time in 3 weeks, we'll be starting our cross country trek. We are counting the days!!!! :woohoo: :jumping1: :mickeybar party:

I just LOVE coming on this thread. It's so fun to see everyone counting down the days and feeling so excited!:banana::banana:

Tomorrow morning will officially be our 2 week mark!:cheer2::banana::cheer2:

Oh, and BTW, I have the Verizon app and have been tracking Toy Story Mania daily to see what time FPs seem to run out. That's really the only ride we ever have a hard time getting on, so that's the only one I've been watching. I've been checking every hour starting at 10:00 am. I'll keep you posted on my findings :)

Hi everyone!

Just went to walk my 2 miles, part of my pre-vacation training program. I have to do this so I can keep up with my kids!!!

So exciting, people heading out to their trips! Have fun!!!

If you get a chance, pop in and let us know how it's going.

Don't forget to visit us when you get back too! :goodvibes

That really stinks about the furlough days, but at least you might get MLK weekend for another Disney trip. Our county wanted to furlough teachers but our union fought against it so we are the only county employees that are not being furloughed. I was not going to be happy if they did do it because our's would have been the same type of thing...we would have to be furloughed on our teacher work days to do grades which again means you have to go to school. I know it's tough. Hang in there...at least you are going to Disney soon.:yay:

I'd vote for a long MLK weekend Disney trip too - it'll be nice and cool then too! Wow, those wait times don't seem bad at all - let's hope that holds!!!

(I posted this exact same post in my TR...I REALLY have to get in the shower so I thought I'd just copy and paste!!)

Hey Guys!! Greetings from Walt Disney World!!

Just finished up that pesky school work and figured I'd stop by and say hello while I'm here!

Weather has been wacky. Rained HARD on Thursday night. We had rain coats but it was still pretty miserable in Epcot that night.

Yesterday morning it was still raining and yucky in the MK. We had dinner at Boatwrights and I actually wore jeans and a cardigan last night when we went back to the MK. Didn't quite make it for the parade or fireworks...

Today we saw sun finally at the AK and it started feeling a little more like Florida in July. Crowds have not been bad at all! In fact, I saw lower wait times than in summers past at MK yesterday for all the big ones but perhaps that's because a lot of people are going to be in MK tonight and tomorrow for the special 4th of July Fireworks. That and the rain probably kept some people away!

Must get in the shower now to get ready for dinner at T-Rex followed by our fireworks cruise!! Hope the rain holds out! Here's a few pics that I took with my waterproof camera! Haha!

Wow, Nikki! Thanks so much for posting!!! I can't believe it was so uncrowded! Sorry that it rained so much - but the forecast looks better as the days go on. Have a great time!!!!

Whoa Nikki! Thanks for the update. I hope the rain goes away for you...and stays away for us!!

Hey Nikki!!! Thanks for posting! The weather has been cooler this week in SC too, so I was wondering how it's been in WDW. Hope the rain clears up (or maybe not if it's making the parks so empty! :goodvibes)

oh wow nikki. can you save some of that rain for when we're there. if the crowds stay like that when it rains i hope it rains everyday when we're there LOL

ok maybe not EVERYday

Pathetic Alert!!! :rotfl:

I'm loving all the World Cup coverage because every time they do that little African chant when they go to commercial it makes me think of the Animal Kingdom and we're going to be staying at AKL. :goodvibes They have also been showing clips of savannas and giraffes and stuff and I get so smiley. My husband just :rotfl: and says leave it to me to turn a cultural experience into something about Disney. I say way to go Disney for making your parks so authentic that when I truly see Africa it makes me think of Disney :thumbsup2:thumbsup2
