I have a funny story to share with you guys...

the other day my DS (7) starts packing his toys in his carry on cinch sack bag for our trip to WDW. Well my older son (11) asked his younger brother what he was doing, DS 7 replied "packing my toys for disney world." Older son replied, "we are not going for another month"

needless to say we are all ready to go

That's funny! Yesterday my boys insisted we watch the DVD of our Disney trip from July 2008. We were in the middle of enjoying it and my 3-year-old said to me, "I want to go to Disney World." I said, "Good! We're going there in a few weeks." He got mad and said, "NO! I want to go there right now, I said!" And he put his hands at his side and frowned, you know, the way most 3-year-old do!! My older son (5 years old) tried to explain to his brother that we are going there in July but it's still only June now! ;) The little guy didn't want to hear this! Do then later on I was putting them to bed and my little one told me, "I want to go to Disney World right now I said, Mommy!" But at that point he was so tired, he didn't fight me on it when I told him we are going next month. By this morning he forgot about it...well not completely, he's still excited about visiting Mickey!!! :goodvibes

Very cute stories!!! My kids are older, but still get pretty excited, not as cute though....lol

Another jealous teacher here - I'm in Scotland and don't finish til 2nd July - some of you will be in WDW by then!!! The last few weeks are easy though - exams all done, just meeting new classes and starting the easy stuff for next year!!

2nd July can't come quickly enough mind you!!

I see we have exactly the same ADR at Chef Mickey's as Tenesseewalker - we'll be the silly scottish couple with the cute little blonde toddler who'll be creating havoc and I'll be saying things like "David come here, David get down from there, David hold Mummy's hand!" whilst trying to pretend I'm in control LOL

Would love, love, love to join you on 4th July - will have a drink in your honour at this side of the world, then join some of you the following week. Wonder if I could use this as an excuse to come a week earlier!?

Hi everyone, I'm new here. My name is Sandy, I am married and I have 2 daughters (14 and 4). I spent my honeymoon at Disney in 2000, took my older daughter in 2003 and now we are going to be there July 5-12, 2010.

I am so excited to be going back! We are celebrating my youngest daughters birthday while we are there, she will turn 5 during our week stay. We are having breakfast with the princesses for her birthday (a surprise) at Epcot, and both girls will be transformed into princesses the afternoon we get there at Bibbiti Bobbidi Boutique, and we recently decided to upgrade our resort to the New Orleans River Side (from all stars movies), which I'm very excited about.

I'm ready to burst with disney excitement!!!!:cloud9:

Welcome!!! Better late than never! As Wendy said, I can add your ADRs to the list on the top of pg. 7 AND I will be at POR with you!!! We'll be there from the 1st to the 8th.

Happy planning!

Oh I remember those days from living in North Wales. I couldn't believe we finished school so late, but those 1/2 term and term breaks were awfully nice! Are you anywhere close to Ayr? That's where my grandfather is from.

Just made some last minute changes! Spent a good amount of time going over my itinerary, almost as if I was trying to find a place to make changes! So I moved my Wishes Dessert party from 7/7 to 7/5. I had many reasons, all of which sound completely crazy so I'm not even going to try to explain, but believe me, it makes complete sense!

I also added dinner at Boatwrights on the 5th. I've stayed at POR so many times, even more times when it was Dixie Landings, and I've never eaten at Boatwrights. It seemed to fit on this night so we booked it! It's at 5:50. Then we'll head to the MK for the dessert party.

Wishes Dessert Party: Did you have to call? Or you did it online?? How much was it?

Made a change to my reservation, staying at CSR instead of POP now. Same dates 7/17 - 7/24.

Thanks!!!

Oh Wishes dessert party was fantastic. Did they seem to be booked. We will probably book ours tonight.

Hooray for upgrades!

No, not at all. I booked the one for the 7th a few weeks ago and though I was lucky. I thought there was no way I'd actually be able to change it for the 5th but it was available! We are only 2 people though. So if nothing else....there should be two spots that just opened up on the 7th!

Booked a last minute quick trip to meet up with my brother and his family at All Star Movies from 6/30 to 7/4! Got to love booking a trip and then only having to wait 28 days to go  A little nervous about crowds, though. We're used to going in September and late April and this will be the first time we have ever been in the summer. Hoping it's not as bad as I always imagined:confused:

Welcome!!! There are lots of nice people on this thread, I look forward to reading it everyday!

Wow, sounds nice...to only have a few weeks to go when you first book your trip!! Our trip is almost 2 years in the making, and was officially booked last August!! We became DVC members in September 2008, shortly after our last trip (which was our first family trip together, although not my first time at WDW nor DH's). We've been waiting a long time for this first trip as DVC members, and it's finally almost here!!

As far as the summer, I don't think it's that bad. I've been to WDW a total of 5 times. 2 of those trips were as a kid and in August. 2 were in high school (with chorus for a competition) and were in May, and the last one was in July 2008. Is it hot? Yes. Is it crowded? Yes. But is it bearable? YES!!! For us, we feel that the key is to arrive at the parks early (before rope drop for us), when it is not as hot and the crowds are not bad. With the exception of one ride, we didn't wait in any lines longer than 15 minutes. That one ride was Expedition Everes (during EMH morning at AK) for my DH only. I was in DinoLand USA with the kids and he had gone to get himself a FP for EE. He texted me and asked if I would mind if he waited the 30 minutes for the standby line. He didn't mind missing some of the games and kiddie rides in DinoLand, and I didn't mind staying with the boys there. So that's what he did, then we met at the Festival of the Lion King. We ended up arriving there at the same time, from different directions. So we got in line and got into the first show, as planned.

We utilized fastpass a lot. We took an afternoon break each day and plan to do the same on this trip. We left the park roughly around 1PM and there were crowds of people coming into the park. So we were in the resort for the hottest and most crowded part of the day. Sometimes we returned to the park in the evening for dinner and sometimes we just ate dinner at a Disney resort restaurant. We had a great trip, no meltdowns for the kids or for us! :thumbsup2

Just want to add...we're from NYC. I remember talking to my mother during that trip and it was actually hotter at home tham it was at WDW! That happens sometimes when we get a heat wave up here.

I also think that even though it is more crowded in the summer than other times of year, there are still times of year when it is super crowded and I would never go to WDW. Those times are Christmas/New Year's week and Easter week, because everyone is off that same one week. In the summer, kids are off from school for a couple of months so people visit more sporadically. Friends of ours were at Epcot one NYE and they said they were literally shoulder-to-shoulder with people the whole night! :scared1:

Welcome!! How fun to have such a short wait time!! I have added you to the resort list on page 136. If you have any ADRs that you would like to post, Nikki can post those on the ADR list on page 136. Summer is not as bad as spring break - and the extra long park hours really help.

Congrats- I loved CSR
