We saw the shuttle launch last summer - it was very brief, but so cool! We sat over near the dock at the Contemporary to watch it.

We'll be at BCV for 4 days starting July 28th and then for the last 3 days we move to AKV. It will be our first DVC stay and first in a deluxe! I'm so excited even if it will be hot and crowded!
I'm hoping the shuttle won't be scrubbed since we're looking forward to that, too! (We were planning to be there this week for the March launch but they delayed it so that's why we're going in July again!)Thanks for adding me to the list!

Ok, you are officially added to the list. We lucked out with the shuttle last year - it was supposed to launch on a Saturday, we did not even leave home until Sunday and took a couple days to drive down to see relatives along the way. The launch was Wednesday, the day we checked into Disney. So, the delay actually was a good thing for us.
If you would like to post your ADRs, Nikki can add them to the list on page 43 too.

Hello fellow July travelers!
I've finally stopped lurking and thought I'd jump aboard this thread. My family and I will be staying at the Polynesian from July 16th to the 21st. I'm so excited to head back to my little slice of paradise!
Also, can I just say that this thread title is so true. I can't imagine Disney without the heavy crowds and the sun beating down all day. I just don't think it would be as much fun. I would hate to go when it's cold and empty. Disney wouldn't be Disney if I had to wear jeans and my UGGs.
So I say bring on that glorious sweaty, sticky feeling, and I'll see you all in the parks!!

Welcome!! It's so true! We always go in the summer and one time we went in Feb/March and it just wasn't the same! We had coats and it just didn't feel like Disney. I mean, we had blast, of course, but there's something about the heat that makes it have the nostalgic disney feeling to me!
Please enlighten me - what is LGMH?

Oh, that sweaty, sticky feeling - you are so right!! I have gotten used to the unpredictable spring break - as I pack a combo of jeans, shorts, and capris, not knowing what will be needed!! I love going in the summer, all shorts and no jackets!!! So much easier to pack! Welcome aboard! I have added you to the list on page 43. Love the Poly, I second guess our resort choice every time I add someone who is staying at the Poly.

Ok, summer folks - not having been there before...do we need to bring jeans or sweatshirts/light jacket for our July trip? Can we count on it being hot the whole time? Knowing my luck, it would be the one time in history it is 40 degrees in July in Florida. LOL
I really want my kids to each just have a carry on and knowing we don't need long pants would really help. I have to check a bag because I'm going to be there 4 days before the family at a conference, but if we can get the three of them with just a carry-on each, that would be awesome.

I think it's very safe to say that you do NOT have to bring jeans and a sweatshirt.
That being said...I always pack them! The sweater, I bring with me at night for restaurants because I get cold easily, especially if I am wearing shorts and a tank, I think it can get cold with the air conditioning. Last summer, I actually DID wear my jeans to DTD one night but it was unseasonably cool...and when I say "cool" I mean it was 85 during the day instead of 95. I can wear jeans in 80 degrees and be comfy though...
Really, not necessary at all! If I had to eliminate anything from my suitcase, that would be the first thing to go.

Thanks - that really helps! I'm probably going to pack my favorite capris and some shorts. And heck - if we end up needing sweatshirts, we can always buy some cute Disney ones, right??

Welcome, if you would like to post your dates and resort info I can add them to the list.
Ok, we have done summer trips for the last 5 years. The first couple I did put in one pair of jeans and took a jacket. I never used them. I think the only time a jacket or sweatshirt might be needed is if it rains and you get wet, and then are in air conditioning. If you are flying, I definately would eliminate it. As you said - if you really need a jacket - they have a lot of cute ones in the shops in Disney! They also sell sweat pants - so I think you would be fine.

We were there last July and it was unusually cool--some days were only in the 80s.
We weren't complaining for sure. We wore light zip-up hoodies on the airplane and we took them when we went to Hoop De Doo and Chef Mickey's. I could be comfortable in 65 degrees with shorts and a sweatshirt, so no long pants necessary for me. My theory is that if you forget anything, they sell it there. Maybe not cost effective, but hey--you might find a great pair of Disney sweats or sweatshirt!

What were your dates last July? We were there too! We were there July 15-22 at CBR then 7/22-29 at the Poly Club. I do remember it being not quite as hot, and we had a few huge rainstorms. I don't remember needing a jacket though - and we did a few late night EMHs at MK. Of course, anymore I am my own personal heater at times.

Yeah wasn't it weird? Not too hot at all! We were there the 19th-25th and I don't think we even realized how "not hot" it was until we spent one last day in Epcot a week later when we got back from our cruise on August 1! It was unbelievable how much hotter it was! Our strategy for World Showcase was to make it to the next shade! And there are some parts of WS with a loooong stretch of sun with no shade!! It made us realize how lucky we were that our whole trip wasn't like that.....but maybe this year it will be!
