Today was my first day off of work for summer vacation.:banana::banana:

Now I can start focusing on preparation for our Disney vacation, Yeah!!!:yay:

Count us in on the drivers. Driving from the Houston area. 17 hrs roughly for us. The kids are usually pretty well behaved in the van. We have the DVD player, plenty of music and toys, coloring books etc. Our plan is that dh wll come home early Wednesday eat and go to bed. He's another one that can sleep thru anything! LOL I will put the kids to bed a little later than normal but try to stay close to our routine. DH will get up first and get ready, van will be loaded Wednesday night. Once he and I are both ready, we will take two sleeping children to the van. Our goal is to be on the road by 3 am Thursday morning. This will put us in the Mobile AL area around lunch time. We are stopping at the park near my moms house (right off the interstate) and having lunch and letting the kids play and run off some energy. Back in the van, I'll probably drive some from here, and it won't be long before the little one falls asleep for his daily nap. Dh will sleep while I drive, again because he can sleep thru anything. LOL We should arrive in Orlando around 7-8 pm and will use a counter service at Pop after we check in. We will have plenty of snacks for on the road etc. My kids aren't fans of fast food, so we are trying to avoid stopping. I think we will do fine.

Oh and we are splitting the drive on the way back too! LOL We added in an ADR for the morning of our departure. LOL We'll drive to Mobile have dinner with some friends and then go back to my Moms and spend the night. Get on the road at a reasonable hour the next day and drive the remaining 9 hrs home.:scared1:

Has anyone made a reservation for your children to participate in the Pirates League at Magic Kingdom? pirate: I am thinking of doing this but I didn't want to make another reservation that we just have to stick to. We already have so many ADRs. But, I'm wondering if I don't make a reservation if I will not be able to get my kids in... What do you all think?

Also, I spent most of yesterday at the Disney shop online designing Tee-shirts for us to where. They turned out great! Now, I'm just worried about if they will get here before we leave on the 20th. The website said to give 7-10 business days. So, we should be ok. Hope everyone had a great day. :grouphug:

9 hrs home.:scared1:

When we lived in Friendswood, it took us 19 hours in our marathon drive! We arrived exhausted. I don't remember if we switched off drivers much. (it was 18 years ago) We had one toddler at the time, so had to stop for diaper changes and food at Cracker Barrel.

if it is anything like the BBB, they told us we would need reservations, and then at DTD, they had fairy god mother's sprinkling pixie dust and beckoning folks to come inside. No appointment needed. That was last Oct. 8 months ago. I thought it was the economy that they had last min. openings. You may find the same situation, but Oct isn't summer, so I'm not sure.:goodvibes

Heh, we can even trump that, we have a 32 hour drive down! We're leaving on July 3rd and arriving July 5th. I think last time, I drove 30 hours of that and DW drove the other 2. :lmao:

The drive back isn't quite as fun.

 32 hours? You make our 18 hour drive sound so short! :lmao:

And I couldn't agree with you more in that the drive back home is not quite as fun.:sad2: It's at that point that I wish that we were flying!

I do dread the ride back home, but hopefully we can chat about the trip....

Amyz00, did you stay up really late or get up really early???? 4:44am??? I thought 6 am was bad!

And Jason - 32 hours??? :scared1: At least you have a nice long trip in between!

And finally, Nikki, as if you need something else to do. I did change another reservation at 5:50 this am! On Friday July 17th, we have Ohana at 7:10 now instead of 8:30. I was so glad something earlier came open!:cool1:

2 weeks from right now, I will be on 95, headed to see the Mouse!:cool1:

:thumbsup2 No problem!

All this talk of driving kind of makes me miss when we used to drive from NJ. My very first trip, my parents loaded up a 5 year old and an 18 month old (me) in their station wagon and drove down. It wasn't until I was 17 that we flew down for the first time. As much of a pain those driving trips were, there are so many great memories. The cooler with gatorade in the way back, all the snacks, my sister and I tormenting each other and my dad yelling at us to cut it out, being scared to tell my dad I had to go to the bathroom because I knew he didn't want to stop and when I finally couldn't hold it any more, I would tell him and he would say, "Can you wait 20 mins?" And of course, counting the signs to South of the Border and other landmarks that we knew to look for that meant we were close..

Ahh good times! Nothing like being there in 2 hours though!!

My brothers are 13 and 15 years older than me, so I always had the backseat to myself! DH assures me that the fighting is normal, but I am bringing my itouch and earbuds! Just for laughs this am, gotta share my DH's travel story.

His family always camped at Myrtle Beach growing up. They drove a truck and pulled the camper. His parents would put a mattress in the back of their truck that had a camper shell on it, and put him and his brother on it for the ride down! He said it would get soooo hot, and they would wrestle the whole way down!:lmao: Can you imagine??? He said they would beat on the windows if they had to go to the bathroom!

24 hours from now I will be in the air!!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Just have to get through my DD's HS graduation party this afternoon and evening and we'll be good to go! (Mom brag for a moment, if you'll indulge me...She graduated Summa Cum Laude! I'm sooo proud of her! Hey I think I'll take her to WDW tomorrow!:rotfl:

Congratulations! :yay: (to her as well of course!)
I just can't believe it's all so close... in 6 days mom and I will be on the plane from London to Orlando and my sister got there late Thursday night! We couldn't match up our travel dates completely due to work for her and exams for me, so she's staying off-site now to do her sunbathing/excessive shopping thing. She'll have that out of her system when mom and I get there on Friday, so we can hit WDW together! :thumbsup2 She's flying back on the 10th, while mom and I will go discover the rest of FL.

6 days!! :cheer2:

Oh and for those of you who are jealous of us single digit people *cough*Tom*cough*: you get to go when the rest of us are stuck with the Disney blues! You'll have so much fun rubbing our faces in it...

Congrats on both!!!! Have a great trip! Be sure to report when you get back!

Just a thought, anybody going in the next few days want to send my girls a postcard from Mickey while you are there? And conversely, anyone going at the end of the month want us to send one to your little ones?

anyone doing the wishes dessert party?

My brother and his fiance are thinking about it. I can't justify paying that much for desert. I can't eat that much desert either.

Congrats to everyone else who has passed their own milestones. It's almost here...it's almost here!

Ever since my MM came I have been waiting with so much excitement its incredible....My mom went as far to call me a little kid about it......Well yeah mom, Disney does that to people! 14 days till my wedding :lovestruc 15 till we leave:woohoo: and 17 till our hotel reservation:yay:

So much stuff to do!!! Lovin life right now.....but what will I do without my July 09 board? What happens when August gets here....am I gonna have to talk to them?:rolleyes:

Went to have work done on the car. My brakes are bad after 66,000 miles. We may have a newer car by the end of the day. They have a car with only 2500 miles and feel they can get us in it for the same dollar amount. That would be nice. Send positive vibes our way don't want to make a bad or implusive buy. However we all know that if you need a new car now is the time to buy it. Crap!!!

I feel your pain - we just had to buy a new car last month. This is a good time to buy with the incentives. The most important thing is that it keeps you and your family safe - good luck!!!

Yay, the twisted sisters take over the world in only 5 Days!!!!!

Time to start packing!

On a side ARGH note: I came home from work last night to find my husband had cut a big (6' x 2') hole in the kitchen floor to replace the section where the freezer leaked. He had the freezer pushed up against the computer desk, so I could not even get to it. Needless to say there is still a big hole in the floor today, and he is off helping his uncle move a stove or something.

Now I ask you, I am going to be gone for 10 freaking days, couldn't he have waited until I was gone to start this project?? :rolleyes1

Ok rant over, back to being excited.....:woohoo: :woohoo:

Thinking about buying a really nice tiarra at the crystal shop in the MK with my birthday gift card..........hmmm............:cloud9:

Fly & q, CR, CL, MK view 7/2-12/09!!!!!!!!!!!!

One more Saturday until I leave!!!!!!!

Just wanted to thank you all for being apart of this group!

I've had so much fun talking about Disneyworld with you all!!!

I can't wait to hear about all of our experiences once we return!!

XOXOXO
