OFFICIAL JULY 2009 THREAD!!! (Part 2) It's here!!

Hi Everyone!!

I haven't been on here in sooo long. Things were so crazy after my July trip...

I've been thinking about going to Disneyworld in September and was wondering if any of you had any trips planned yet!?

Hope you are all well...

My trip in July was great... The tour groups were a tad annoying and I really think they shouldn't allow them to get 3000 fastpasses as once. I got in a few arguments and ended up going to guest services where they gave me a free fast pass.

Anyone have any suggestions about Disneyworld in Sept?

Keep an eye open for free dining. It has been offered for at least part of September the last few years.

It is still hot so like July drink lots of water.

On the plus side the crowds will not be as bad. I prefer going in the fall.

Also the park will not be open as late in September as they were in July but I am not a late night person. If you are you can just spend time at DTD. We spent from open till 7 or 8 at the parks then headed back to the resort for a dip in the pool to cool off. Then to bed to start it all over again the next day.

Go and enjoy

Going in July again this summer! There are a few of us from this thread on the "Official July 2010" thread but it's not nearly as fun as our thread!!!

At least there is some action. June is about 5 pages of :cool1::cool1: with a few:banana::banana: thrown in for good measure, with a lot of dates and resorts. :sad2:

I've said it before and I'll say it again.....

We're the BEST!!! July 2009 Disers ROCK!

So is there a reason you can't be on facebook?

Miss you guys, Lois

Well, there are a few reasons. First of all, I know how I am about "things" that I like and once I am into something, I become obsessed...like Disney, Harry Potter...I never just like things, I obsess over them...which is fine. But I know how some people are crazy over facebook and I just don't want to become like that, especially since I have the potential to!!

Also, I am a teacher and I know a LOT of teachers, a few colleagues included, that are on FB and say it's fine but I just think there's potential for trouble.

There is alway the possiblity for trouble. I must be careful as I am a social worker. If you easily become addicted then you know best. I know I spend more time then I should. But it is fun for the time. It is not an issue now but if it becomes one I am sure I can apply the 12 steps to my recovery.

Good Morning All,

Does anyone know if there has been a set date for when the Harry Potter attraction will open? I was trying to see if I would be able to go and see it when I'm down there in Sept.

Also, I'm trying to figure out where to stay this time around.. I was at the AKL in July.. This trip will be my mom and I. I was leaning towards AKL again she's never stayed at a deluxe resort.. She really would love the AKL.... Any suggestions?

My wife felt the same way. She doesn't spend a lot of time on FB, just uses it to catch up with friends.

As far as the addiction goes, the best way to avoid it is to not play any of the games and to block all of the notifications associated with them.

We're the BEST!!! July 2009 Disers ROCK!

You bet we sure do!!! I can somehow picture a July09 reunion cruise in July 2011 or 12!! April Foote (Ashtonsmom99) and I met up. Like Emma said, I ran past her rushing out of the parks soaked to the skin. By the time I realized it was her, she was through the gate and I was out.

We even have our own facebook page!
:hippie:
Yes we do! I love keeping up on facebook.

I play a game on facebook called Farmville, and its really the only electronic game I've played since Ms.Pacman! lol:rotfl: otherwise, I just use it to keep up with friends. I've kept up with July DISers, community friends and I've found dozens of high school classmates. I think its great.... and Tom! I can't imagine ...Krisit... not on facebook!! You must be monopolizing the computer! :lmao::surfweb:

I'm now active on the official March 10 board. We leave on our next trip March 27th arriving March 28th. They're a great bunch... but its just not the same.:cloud9:

We can probably keep this board going forever!:lovestruc

Hello everyone, haven't been here in a while.

Is anyone going in October? DS has fallbreak so we are going. Wanting to do MNSVSHP. Waiting for free dining so we can book.

Oh that's so funny! I never would have seen that! Thanks! Except they left out a key point....I went back and copied my original post...

DH and I NEVER go to Universal but we are so excited to go to Harry Potter. BUT there is no way we are going on our trip this summer! Has anyone mentioned the fact that everyone and their mother wil most likely be there, especially in the first few months? It's not going to be crowded...it's going to be a MADHOUSE!!! I just don't think it'll be worth it, in my opinion. Not yet, anyway.

BUT I bet people who are visiting the REST of Universal Studios will have empty parks!

:rotfl:

Wow! I can't believe this thread is still (somewhat) going! :cool1:
After the space shuttle and all its scrubs sucked up about all our non-Disney time in Orlando last July, I became addicted and will now be coming back for one of the remaining launches in May, July or September! Once an aerospace girl, always an aerospace girl... It'll probably be May or September, though, as flights in July are twice as expensive . What are all your plans??

We saw the shuttle launch last July - from the CR patio out by the boat dock - it was so cool! Glad we got to see one, it was supposed to launch on Saturday and we did not arrive till Wednesday - the day it finally launched. We were lucky because later that evening there was a terrific storm.

We are going back early July - since our APs expire on July 15th. Not too many of us July 09ers going back this year - but there are a few!

I saw just the trail in the corner of the window at the airport. Would love to see one from the parks. That picture that was floating around the other day of the launch behind the castle was breathtaking!

I am!! :thumbsup2

I just caught up with the last 10 pages of the thread and wanted to share some 7/4 thoughts with those of you who will be there for that in 2010 or on a honeymoon in 2011 :goodvibes. In '99 the 4th in MK was extremely crowded, so we were prepared for the same situation in '09. It turned out very different, though... I kind of spent the whole day waiting for the crowds to show up. It seemed like the CMs felt the same way. Splash had very long queues and getting a good spot for the fireworks required some... well creativity, but unlike ten years before people were not camping out for the fireworks at 3pm.
Now here's my little well-known secret: we flew in on the 3rd, checked in and went to the Poly beach to see the fireworks rehearsal (is that what it is?). The fireworks on the 3rd and 4th were identical and we enjoyed the view from beach so much more than from within MK! They bring out some floats of the water pageant, you can see ALL of the fireworks in their "grandeur" and they all reflect on the water! It was an amazing view. So to all you 4th of July-ers, I can highly recommend this!
