Official inaugural Tower of Terror 10 miler thread. September 29, 2012

I have not registered for the race, yet. I plan to do so, before the first price increase. Can somebody post the cost of these tickets, please. I have a FD packaged booked, but would like to get make this trip as cheap as possible. I would like to MNSSHP, as well. And go to F&W, but I don't know if these events will fit in to the days we are there.

Does anyone want to guess how many runners for this race??

The Wine & Dine had 8K last year at this same time. I'm going to imagine it will be close to that. Not sure how the two races this fall will impact each other.

Question about buying discounted tickets.
I know you can't online, but when you get there can you add no expiration? I'll be heading back down in January so it make since to get the option

no, you can not modify them at all.. in fact. you need to begin using them within a day or two of the race.
The discount tickets are technically for the race weekend. They are a very good deal

Matt Hochberg of Studios Central has created a team to run Disney races and raise money for Give Kids the World, if anyone is interested in joining here are the details. http://www.studioscentral.com/blog/2012/01/25/introducing-team-studios-central
We also have a facebook page, the more the merrier.
I'm anxious to see what the actual course will be like, I'm not sure how comfortable I am of running on grass and sand, I guess I have to incorporate those into my training runs.

The online info (for ToT discounted tickets) says the tickets are good from 7 days before the race until 7 days after. However, the discount gets smaller as you add days.

The phone reservation agent seemed to think I could upgrade the tickets on-site, but would have to pay gate prices for the upgrade. Quite possible she was misinformed and no modifications are possible, though.

Okay, so according my Disney World account April 1 is 180 day mark. Any plans for meets yet? (Before I start making ADRs on my own)

I've booked my return airfare. Tomorrow is the 10k race, so I can submit a time for corral placement. I'm up for a meet up.

Would we want to do a meet before or after the race? The benefit of before would be having awesome people to hang out with at the after-party/while running. The benefit of after is getting to show off that bling

Just one possible thought, I've never run a race yet so don't have any experience yet, but maybe a meet up for packet pick up and then do something as a group?

The DH and I would be up for a meet up as well!!

So excited that I finally made it official today and got us registered!!

Hey everyone! I just signed up! This will be my 4th Disney race. Guess it's time to change the ticker.

I ran my hilly 10K race today. I rocked the downhills and finished in 56:34. My goal was a hour. Now, I have a current time to submit for the TOT10Miler.:cool1:

I have been planning to do this one for a while. I finally signed up for the 10 miler. I may be doing the 5K too. If my wife decides to do it, I will do the 5K with her and the 10 mile alone. I did this race when it was a 13K and loved it. The 13K in 2008 was my first Disney race.

Congrats. It is great to beat a goal. Going downhill can be tough on the body (quads and knees), glad you rocked those.

I'm not as fast as you, but I surprised myself with my 10k race time this morning too. Finished at 1:02:19, which is 12 minutes faster than my self-timed 6 mile training run earlier this week. Woo hoo! So I too am feeling good for making it to 10 miles with some more training.

Apparently it was 10k weekend
I ran mine in the heat yesterday. Right at 52 minutes. Not a pr but I'm happy as I'm working to get back in shape. Should I resubmit my time (I originally used my sub 55 time) or hold out to see if I get closer to my old sub 45 pr? Any guesses as to what the break for corral a will be?

I was thinking of resubmitting a time, if a better one comes along. My time, from this weekend, was around a nine minute mile. I don't think I could run that on a flat course. I'm usually more 9:30-10 minute per mile pace. I wonder about corral placement, as well. My sister's best time is 48 for a 10K. She will use that time, I'll submit my 56 and it will be interesting to see were we fall. In the Disney information, it did mention under two hours for race finish, needs to submit a time.
