Official Hurricane Frances Thread - Part II

No, it isn't. It's moving incredibly slow however, which is actually worse. It's going at about 4-5mph to the west. Charlie moved VERY quickly, Frances is pelting the same area for an incredibly long time which is a lot worse.

Shirley here in Cape Canaveral - quite a bit of damage being done and Frances won't be here until sometime tonight - the building next to Holiday Inn Express has lost their entire roof - watched it go off - everything is getting quite a beating - we are still very safe here at the condo. The wind and rain is coming in pretty fast - got a boat in the back that is stranded but noone was in it Thank God - there was a house fire due to a generator.
Losing quite a bit of trees - the bridges have been closed down until further notice - noone can come in or out - will keep all posted.
Always
Shirley and Norm (& Frances an unwanted guest)

Thanks for the update Shirley. Keep us posted about our precious port! Are you still in town or did you evacuate? If you are there, BE SAFE!

I second that...please be careful. Hopefully it will be over soon. Keep yourselves safe!

Thanks for the update, but PLEASE be careful! We're all thinking of you & Norm!

Hang in there Shirley and Norm.
We are just getting the feeder bands over here in Lakeland.

Does anybody know what time the Magic and Wonder will be in port on Monday? I missed seeing the Wonder when she came over from Italy and sailed in with the Magic, so I thought it might be neat to drive over and see them together. Assuming that it's safe to go out there, of course.

The CM I just spoke with said (subject to change) both the Magic and Wonder are scheduled to arrive 2 pm (previously noon) and leaving at 10pm.

Hi Shirley-

Hang in there! We're all pulling for you, Norm, and all the Floridians effected by Frances.

God Bless!

Hi guys!

DH, DD3 and I are sitting in the hotel in Brunswick, GA, waiting to see what we should do. We drove down from VA today on a practically empty southbound I-95. We are planning to stay here tomorrow night, too, since it looks like we won't be able to get to PC at all on Sunday.

I saw the post that said that the Wonder won't be leaving until 10pm on Monday. When should we arrive at the terminal to check in?

We are worried about getting stuck in traffic on our way into FL on Monday. I know a lot of people will be headed home to see how their houses and stuff are.

Can I get any suggestions from you FL or DCL natives? We don't have a clue when we should try to leave here or try to get to the port.

We're praying for you guys down there! Stay safe!

Shannon

Hi!

Praying for you all in Florida!!

Are the Wonder & Magic both in at port?? I thought that they would have gone out to sea for a few days to get as far away from Frances as possible.

Have a safe Holiday weekend (boy, that has a different meaning than normally, doesn't it??)

The ships have not been in port since the WONDER left on Thursday. Both itineraries have been extended. The MAGIC was at Galveston, Texas today. The WONDER went to Cozumel as it could not go to Castaway Cay.

They are hoping to both be in port on Monday for the next cruises to go out. Both Cruises will be shorter than normal and guests will be given special perks since their vacations have been altered.

Heard from the Magic.
They were in Galveston for the day.
Said the Captain has been doing a great job keeping them in good seas.
Said a number of pax left the ship to head home (Not to Florida!) while in Galveston.
As slow as Frances is moving they have been told it might even be Tuesday before they return to PC (not good news for many sorry).

Streaming video from Orlando's Channel 9 is available on their web site http://www.wftv.com/ (Tom Terry predicted Charleys turn hours before the Hurricane Center did)

Tornado watches all over the place now.

We are riding the storm out here in Orlando. It is pretty wet out there. Cocoa beach area is under a mandatory curfew for the next 72 hours and lots of roads are flooding so I am fairly certain we won't be making the ship on Monday (if it comes in at all) Looks like our cruise plans will be changing again. At least the house is holding up well and we haven't lost any trees so far. Good luck to everyone else out their, vacationers and residents.

Hey Shirley--keep us posted on damage and bridge re-openings. I live south of you :( in Indialantic.

Would hate to hear of flooding, but would love to for your to report if you see/hear of any.

We called our house and power is out as answering machine is no longer functioning.

They showed on the news the old south housing area that is south of Patrick air force base. A power pole was almost on top of a house yesterday daylight, and another was leaning about 30-45 degrees.

I am sorry about everyone's cruises :( :( :( :(
I am glad that passengers could be "released" in Texas. Are the remaing passengers mostly FLa residents or people who have their cars parked at PC?

This storm is ravaging Florida as we speak, my continued prayers to everyone there or not there due to evacuations!!

Just heard on the Weather Channel (9am EST) that earlier this morning that Cape Canaveral experienced a wind gust of 124 mph..... :( Hope the ships have a port to come home to!!! Prayers.... more prayers... I've always watched storms.... this one is soooooo slow.

Jennifer - who lives in WNC and the path has been altered to include us around Wednesday with heavy rain/winds (on top of already saturated ground here too)
