Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Thanks. Thought it would be close...guess ill make a change
MSELP starts on Main St. So, if you get a spot close to the railroad station, you can head out as soon as the last float goes by..it lasts about 15-20 mins, start to finish. If you get right to the monorail platform really quickly, you might make it. Or, walk over to the CR (under 10 mins) and take a cab to BC...then walk to Italy for dinner. That would be the fastest method.

Disney Transportation is a great way to save money, gas, and time! You're at Disney, why do more than you have to!

Is there a bus that goes straight from the WL to Epcot or do you have to take the boat to CR & catch the monorail to the TTC from there? Looking for the quickest way to get to Epcot from WL..

TIA! :)

First of all...welcome to the DIS, and to the Transportation board in particular.
Yes, Disney transportation is a great way to go. But...it is not always the quickest way to get to where you are going. If you have an early ADR, it may be easier, and quicker to take a cab. When using Disney transportation, we always recommend figuring on at least an hour...from point A to point B. For instance, let's say you're at CSR and want to get to Boardwalk to eat for a 6:30 ADR. You could take the bus to DHS and then walk or boat to BW. You would have to figure on being at the DHS bus stop no later than 5:15. You may have just missed the DHS bus and face a 25 min wait for the next one. If that's the case, you board the DHS bus around 5:40ish. You get to DHS by 5:50-5:55. As you walk towards the boat dock, if the boat is just coming in, walk to the dock. It will then take about 15 mins, after the boat departs, to get to the BW area...get off at the S/D and walk to BW. It's faster than remaining on the boat until it gets to BW. So now it's 6:15-6:20. You're on-time for your ADR. Or, if the boat is just departing the dock, or nowhere in sight, just walk to BW...takes under 20 mins. Again, it's now about 6:15ish.
If you don't want to take that much time? Just take a cab, at 6:10...will probably cost around $15 or so. Sometimes time is money.

Yes, there is a bus. At least there was the last time I stayed there.

Hi Everyone! Planning our first trip to WDW in February, and completely overwhelmed by the transportation system!

We are cramming a lot into a much too short vacation, so time management is a big priority. Because of this, I definitely plan on using cabs at times, like going from AK to Disney Springs. Cabs are readily available outside each resort, Disney Springs and the Contemporary, correct?

The WDW website says bus transportation begins 45 minutes before park opening. Is this true? I plan to already be in line at the parks by then, or shortly after, so I really hope not.

Contemporary Resort to AK or HS - Since the resort bus will stop at other resorts, would it be quicker to walk to MK and take the park bus from there? Park to park busses are direct, right? This would be first thing in the morning.

A related question...at the end of the day, when returning to the Contemporary from AK or HS, would it be better to take a bus to MK and then walk, rather than the resort bus?

Thanks so much! I would be so lost without disboards! :goodvibes

Yes, taxis are readily available.

No. Buses start running consistently at 6:30 a.m.

Catch the bus to AK or HS at the Contemporary. Park-to-Park buses won't be running as frequently early in the morning.

Thank you so much! I thought it sounded a little crazy that the buses would start running so late.

I'm definitely not feeling so overwhelmed anymore. I think I just might be able to handle it. :thumbsup2

How can we go from The grand Floridian to wilderness lodge
Boat or monorail to Magic Kingdom, and then boat or bus to Wilderness Lodge.

Alternatively, monorail to the Contemporary, and then catch a boat on the back side to Wilderness Lodge.

Are there buses from any of the Parks to Disney Springs anymore? We're thinking about going from HS to DS and wondering if there's a direct option. Otherwise, we'll probably stop off at one of our party's resorts (CBR).

You could all from HS to Boardwalk or take the boat to The Swan and Dolphin and catch a bus from there. Or take the bus to Saratoga Springs, get off at the Congress Park stop and walk across the bridge to Disney Springs.

I'm looking for some help planning the transportation portion of our adventure!

We're doing a split hotel stay- Art of Animation and Coronado Springs.

From Art of Animation, we have a reservation at Beaches and Cream for a late lunch. Is the best way to get there to take a bus to Epcot and walk? Are there signs to help guide?

We're also hoping to catch Chip and Dale's campfire at the Fort Wilderness Resort. If we get to MK, can we walk from there?

We'll also be going from Art of Animation to Chef Mickey's for brunch. Should we bus to MK and then monorail to the Contemporary?

Then from Coronado Springs, we have an 8:40am reservation at O'hana. What's the best way to get there?

Finally, do the resorts offer buses to Disney Springs?

I would really appreciate any help! This is our first time at Disney without a car, with a toddler!

Have bell services move your luggage, or take a taxi. You cannot take luggage on the buses.

No. You'd have to walk through Epcot. You can take the bus to Hollywood studios and take a bus, boat, or walk from there.

Monorail or walk to the Contemporary. Monorail is probably quickest to get there; walking would be quicker coming back.

Define "best." A taxi is the quickest. Otherwise, you're looking at a bus to MK and monorail to the Poly. You'll want to be at the bus stop between 7:10 and 7:30. Ask the bus driver how to get to the Poly from MK and he might drive you there.

Thank you so much! Do you happen to know what a typical taxi fare would be, say, from CS to the Polynesian or something similar?

There's no bus from DHS to BC, unless the boats are not running (too early or bad weather.) Take the boat, or walk about a mile.
We're also hoping to catch Chip and Dale's campfire at the Fort Wilderness Resort. If we get to MK, can we walk from there?
No, but there is a boat from MK to FtW.
