Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Thank you! We'll definitely be checking out the decorations at some of the other resorts. I could be wrong but are there boats that you can get on at Disney Studios for transportation? If there are, where do they go?
There are boats that run between the International Gateway and Hollywood Studios. They make stops at BC/YC, Boardwalk, and Swan/Dolphin.

I thought I had read somewhere that after the Hoopdedoo there are buses that will take guests back to their resorts. Then I read recently that those buses only run after the last show. Is that right? Do they only run after the last show?

I have heard several recommendations to take the bus to MK and boat to FtW but I am wondering if it is faster to drive (and use the internal FtW buses to get to HDDR). We have some little ones in our group and the sooner we can get them into bed, the better. Any advice?

Buses available after last two shows.

If you're staying at a Disney resort, take the ferry from the MK. If you're watching the last two shows, you can catch a bus directly to your resort.

Driving to Ft Wilderness won't keep you from riding buses: you still need to park at the main entrance and bus to Pioneer Hall.

Thank you so much! That was exactly what I wanted to hear!

Having dinner at WCC at WL and doing a Holiday Sleigh Ride at Ft.Wilderness..
How long does it take on the boat from WL to Ft.Wilderness? I thought that I read that it is a pretty short ride, am I correct? There is a separate boat, other than the one that goes to MK that goes between Ft.Wilderness and WL, right?

Much thanks! Never been to Ft.Wilderness and it will be a "treat" to see the decorations during the Holiday Season!:santa::cheer2:

Much faster to take the bus: it's a two-minute ride once you're on.

I tried searching, but this thread is too big! Is there transportation from the water parks to Downtown Disney, or would we have to go back to our resort first?

Thanks!
There are no buses from BB to DTD; you do have to transfer at a resort (not necessarily the one you're staying at.) Pop & AoA are convenient transfer points.

From TL to DTD, it's complicated:

  • Before 11am, all buses leaving TL go to DTD.
  • Between 11am - 2pm, most buses leave DTD go to a resort, and then to DTD. You can board a bus for a nearby resort, like OKW or SSR, stay on the bus through the resort, and ride it to DTD.
  • After 2 pm, buses from TL run only to Epcot. To get to DTD, you would need to ride the shuttle bus to Epcot, then take a bus to a resort (POFQ would be a good one), and then take a 3rd bus to DTD.
The walkway from SSR Congress Point to DTD Marketplace has reopened with a new bridge. To avoid a transfer, you could take a bus from BB or Epcot to SSR, get off at Congress Point stop, and walk about 1/2 mi. to Marketplace (near the Christmas shop.)

Going to Wishes Mon. Nov 3rd, it starts at 9. Will we be able to make it to a 9:40 dinner reservation at Ohana at the Poly by 9:40? Planning on taking the monorail.

These new monorail hours are really messing up my plans! What is the best/fastest way to get from the Grand Floridian to Epcot for an 8:15 breakfast reservation? Also, the best/fastest way to get from Grand Floridian to Hollywood studios for an 8:15 breakfast reservation? Thanks in advance for any pointers!

You have no trouble. To get to Epcot, buses start running to the TTC at 7 a.m. To arrive earlier, be up front no later than 6:30 a.m. and board one of the special character breakfast buses for Epcot.

Disney provides a direct (but shared) bus to Hollywood Studios.

So let me get this right... I will have to take a bus to the transportation station and then another bus to Epcot? When does the monorail that runs to Epcot start? For Hollywood studios we can get a bus directly from the Grand Floridian? These changed monorail hours making staying on the monorail seem less appealing as it's less help! Thanks again!

1. With the monorail, you have to ride the monorail to the TTC then transfer to another one for Epcot. I don't see how this is any different.

2. Yes.

What's the difference? With the old monorail hours you still would've had to transfer at the TTC to ride the Epcot monorail.

I wasn't saying anything negative I was clarifying. And it is easier to do monorail to monorail vs having to take a stroller on a bus... You have to break your stroller down to take a bus and on the monorail you can just roll right on! Either was we will make it happen just wanted to make sure I found the best option! Thanks for the info!

How do I get to the speedway from POP? Do I have to make my way to the TTC first then catch a bus from there?

Yes, you need to get to the TTC, then there's a shuttle provided. You should ask about it when you make your reservation.

It was suggested to me on an earlier post to park my car at the park that I would be ending my day at instead of driving it from parking lot to parking lot. So if I plan on beginning my day at HS and end it at the MK, which is where I would park my car, what would be the best way to get to HS from MK? We would like to get there at opening which will be 9:00 am that day. We are staying off site. Or would it just be better to drive from lot to lot?

The same question would apply to Epcot and HS. One day we might begin at HS and end at Epcot.

And the same question for beginning at AK and ending at HS.

The big issue is getting to that second park for rope drop. You can park at DHS and take a bus right to MK...I'm just not sure how early the park to park buses start running.
For your DHS/Epcot day...that's easier....I would actually park at DHS, enjoy your day there, then boat, or walk, to Epcot. You can then walk or boat back to DHS....or take the bus. I usually end my Epcot day in the back of the park, so exiting via the International Gateway and then on to DHS.
For your DHS AK day....park at DHS and then bus to AK. Bit again, I'm just not sure how early those park to park buses start.....you will probably be ok, just not 100% sure.

We have parked at one park and spent the morning there, then took disney transportation to another park for the evening, then took disney transportation back to the first park for the rest of the night. But other than situations like that, It's easier to just drive to each park. It's very difficult (and sometimes impossible) to travel between parks before rope drop. Your plan will also involve waking up at least an hour earlier than you normally would
