Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

We will be walking from BW to Epcot for 2 ADRs - 1 at 7:15 on an Epcot emh night at Biergarten and 1 at 7:15 on a Fri night at Garden Grill. I know we may be at one end of BW vs the other but lets say the walk itself is 10 min, how much time do you think we need to walk over and make it through the gates/security?

Thank You!! - you all are so helpful over here!!:thumbsup2

It's about 10 mins from the boat dock/village green area of BW to the International Gateway. So, for an ADR at 7:15 at Biergarten, I would plan on leaving BW by 6:45ish...gives you plenty of time. Same thing for Garden Grill. That way you can just amble on over and not worry. And you should be at the restaurant about 10 mins prior to the ADR to check in.

I have an adr at Le Cellier with a very tight window to getting there from the Wilderness Lodge. what would be the fastest way to get there? I would even consider a taxi to boardwalk and wlking in that way if it would help. Thanks in advance for your help!

Quickest route would be a cab to BC, then walk over. If you use the bus, you are going to have to factor in wait times.
And I say BC only because it's a bit closer to the International Gateway than BW...not by a ton but a few minutes.

I am staying at the Wilderness Lodge May 24 - 29, 2012. I have a 5pm ADR at the Poly on 5/29. Is it best/quickest to take the boat to MK then monorail to Poly, boat to CR then monorail to Poly, or bus? I read that WL shares a bus with GF and Poly but didn't know if it was an indirect route.

I also have an 8:10am ADR at CP on Fri 5/25 - do you recommend taking the boat straight to MK or bus? How early should I depart from WL?

Thanks in advance for your help! :)

You have a few choices...you can take the boat to the CR and then hop on the resort monorail over to the Polynesian. Or, you can take the boat to MK and then either take the small boat to the Polynesian or the monorail. Probably the quickest method is going to be boat to CR, then monorail to Polynesian. I would plan on heading out from WL by about 3:45/4ish. That way you don't have to worry about being late. But, in all reality, you will most likely have plenty of time to spare.

I always opt for the boat from WL to MK..it's very pleasant. I'm just not absolutely sure what time the boats start running at WL. You could also take the boat to CR and then walk over. Just depends on how early they start running. They may not start until about an hour prior to park opening. And that may not get you there in time...so a bus will be your only option.

If we have a reservation at Boatwrights Dining Hall can we take the boats, (Ferries) from Downtown Disney to Port Orleans.?? and then back again.
We do have Disney 14 day all inclusive tickets.

Thanks

I stayed at CR a week and a half ago. I never took the boat to WL, but I was up before 8 every morning (had to make the 9 AM park openings!). I saw boats coming to the CR dock from my window (presumably dumping off boatloads of people coming to Chef Mickey's breakfast!), so I think they start running pretty early...at least the resort-to-resort boats.

Yes, just like all WDW transportation, the boats are free for any one -- no tickets or resort ID required.

The PO boat leaves from the Marketplace, near the Rainforest Cafe, and runs between 10 a.m. & 11 p.m.

What is the best intermediate stop between Downtown Disney and EPCOT? Should we take the ferries to POR and then the bus to EPCOT? The bus to OKW then EPCOT? Or the bus to Carribbean Beach, then EPCOT?

My daughter is performing at Downtown Disney with her band, and I'm thinking it doesn't make sense to go all the way back to Coronado Springs where we (the rest of the family) are staying and then on to EPCOT for the rest of the day. I'm also concerned that her tour company (who are more or less inept) will leave all those bandos there to make their own way to one of the parks, so I want her to know the best way from point A to point B as well.

Thanks!

Your best bet is probably to take the bus to the Beach Club, and then walk to Epcot. Second best would be to take the bus to Pop Century and then another bus to Epcot.

For me, it would depend on where in Epcot I wanted to be. If you want to head directly to World Showcase, take the bus to BC and then walk over and enter via the International Gateway. If you want to be in FutureWorld, take the bus to Pop and enter at the front of the park.

This may have been answered but I searched and I couldn't find it. I also know it will vary, but I am wondering about how long it takes to get from AK to DHS by Disney Bus?? If I want to be in DHS at say 6:00, what time should I plan on heading to the bus stop at AK??

You're correct, it can vary. We usually recommend leaving an hour to get from one place to another.....the ride isn't usually very long, but the wait time can be. If the ride is about 15 mins, and you have to wait for about 20 mins for the bus, then you will need that time.
Better to be early than to worry about being late.

I agree. If you need to be at DHS at 6:00, I would leave AK by 5:00. But, if you just want to be at DHS around 6:00, you could wait until about 5:30 to leave. It just depends on how firm your plans at DHS are.

Hello there, this is my first time posting so please forgive any abbreviation errors!

We have got reservations for the calafornia grill quite late in the evening to take advantage of seeing the fireworks. But we are staying at the Beach Club. I was thinking that we would use the monorail to get back, but that will take us to the main entrance of Epcot. We will need to get all the way through the park to be able to walk back to the BC. What happens if Epcot is all shut up for the night? Should we just use the bus system?

Thank you! xxxx

Welcome to the DIS boards TinkerAbi!!!
You really don't want to take the monorail back. When you get done eating, if MK is still open, or had just closed within the hour, you can just walk over there and get on the BC bus. Buses will run until all the guests are out of the park...and people stay in the park for a long time after the fireworks end!!!
Or, you can take a bus to DTD and transfer to the YC/BC bus there.
Or just take a cab.
The problem with taking the monorail is that if Epcot is closed, you can't get in there, even to just walk through to your resort. And it's really just a big ole pain and time consuming. So, figure out what time MK actually closes that night, and go from there.

I was thinking that we should probably plan for it to take an hour, but wanted to check with the experts!! Thanks so much!!

WOW! I just read through this whole thread and now my head hurts! We aren't going until November 2013, but this is what I have decided.

We were already planning on renting a car.

We are not park hopping as this is our first trip and we want to spend as much time at each park as we can.

We will be eating meals at the park we are at that day and at the hotels we want to on our off day or half day.

We will take a bus from our resort to each park and back!

Keeping it simple!

But really, this is an amazing thread with so much great information!!! I am overwhelmed!
