Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

HS to DTD....bus to POFQ and then boat to DTD is a great idea. That's what I would do, especially if time is not of the essence.
A boat to the S/D (or BW) and then bus to DTD is also a good idea. The buses run to, and from, the S/D the same way they do at other resorts....every 15 mins or so...depending on time of day.
I seldom recommend going to SSR and then walking...it can be confusing since SSR is so large. If you get off the bus at the wrong stop, you could end up meandering around the resort, looking for the way out!!!

Thanks! I had looked at the map of SSR, and had the same thought!

The port Orleans boats run about every 20 mins but not on a specific schedule. The friendship boats from DHS run about the same. In both cases though the lines to use these boats can be an hour long. On our last trip staying in the boardwalk area we never were able to use the friendship boats because the wait was so long even mid-day. If you are doing the Port Orleans boat you are much better off going to Riverside instead of French Quarter because the boat line starts at Riverside.

We will be doing it about mid-morning...we can finish up at DS before 11, and then head to DTD. Hopefully the lines won't be too bad that time of day, if they are we will probably grab a bus to the Swan/Dolphin.

Thanks for the info!

What is the best way to get from the parks to the water parks? Walk to the nearest resort hotel and grab a bus there? Also do water park buses run from the TTC? Thanks in advance.

There are buses to BB from Epcot, DHS, and AK. There are no buses from MK; you could walk to CR, or take the boat or monorail to any nearby resort, and get a bus to BB there.

There are not any buses to TL from any of the theme parks. Get to a nearby resort by any means you like (walk, bus, boat, monorail) to catch a bus to TL.

There are no buses to either water park from TTC.

How do we get from Wilderness Lodge to the Grand Floridian for an 8 am breakfast ADR? Has anyone done that before? Any advice appreciated!

If it runs early enough, take the boat to CR, then take the monorail. If it doesn't, take the boat or bus to MK, then take the monorail. (Since the buses to MK start running at 6:30, I'm guessing that the boats to MK start running that early, too, but of course I could be wrong. ;))

I've read numerous times on this board that the buses to the parks start running at 6:30, contrary to what apparently a lot of CMs say, which is an hour before park opening, so I'm confident I'm right on that one. I've never stayed at WL (I have visited it), but I would tend to think that if one method of transportation to the parks starts running at 6:30, then so would another one.
The boat from WL to CR starts running at 6:45. Although it may stop at FtW on the way, I think that will be early enough to get you to on the monorail in time for your ADR. The monorail starts at 7 a.m.

I don't think the boats from WL to the MK start up that early, but the bus should be running.

You should also be able to get a bus directly to GF. Most of the AK buses from WL, as well as many of the DHS buses in the early morning, will stop at GF on their way to the park. Just make sure to ask the driver whether that particular bus is going to GF. (WL-DTD buses also stop at GF, but they don't run that early.)

Thanks :goodvibes Now that I know it shouldn't be a problem getting there, I just need to choose a way.

Any hints on how to make this the lest amount of time possible? I have Lupus and the time spent on the bus makes less time at the park.
We are staying at a non-Disney hotel and will be left at the transportation station. Any hints on how to make this the lest amount of time possible? Or how much time it will be?
Thanks

Well, unless you either rent a car, or take cabs, you'll be on a bus. From the TTC, you will take either the ferry or monorail to the MK..no other way. To Epcot, it's going to be the monorail, or a cab. To DHS and/or AK, a bus leaves from TTC, or you can take a cab.
Getting to MK should take about 30 mins, including any wait times for either the ferry or monorail.
To Epcot?? again, 30 mins.
Same thing with DHS/AK...maybe a bit more time if you just miss the bus.

Hey All~ I've never posted on the transportation boards before, but I was wondering if you guys could provide some ideas to me on this one...So, with the word of the possibility of monorails being shut down due to GF Villa construction, I am worried that we will have difficulty getting to ADR's at CR and GF (I know we can walk to GF but in hot July...ugh!)...can someone provide insight?

ETA: We would be coming from the Poly

We will be in Downtown Disney early one evening. Then we would like to hit one of the parks (not sure which one yet). If it's Epcot or MAgic Kingdom would the best thing to do be to get on whichever bus goes to a monorail resort? What if its DHS?

For Epcot, it would make more sense to get on a bus for an Epcot resort. Getting on a bus for a monorail resort would take you out of your way, plus you'd have to get on the monorail to get to the TTC, then get on another monorail to get to Epcot. If you get on a bus for an Epcot resort, you would just need to walk to the International Gateway. A bus for an Epcot resort would also be the best choice for DHS.

Well, don't start panicking yet...Disney always makes some kind of solution. But, if it were me??? If I had to go to the GF, I would take the small boat from the Polynesian. It will go to MK first, then it will head to the GF. Going to the CR??? Again, take the boat from the Polynesian to MK, and then either walk over to the CR (takes under 10 mins) or take the boat.

If you're going to Epcot, I would get on the BC bus. Going to MK? Take the bus to the CR, and then walk over to MK.

MK - any of the monorail resorts (if it happens to be the Contemporary, just walk to MK) Grand Floridian would be shortest trip on the monorail.

EPCOT or DHS - Boardwalk, Beach Club or Yacht Club. You can take the boat to either park or depending on which one you get and where you are going (and your stamina) you could walk to either

Have a great trip!

Whats the best way to get from ASMovies to Contemporary for 8:30 breakfast at Chef Mickey??

Hi there! Fastest would be a taxi. Other option would be bus to MK then walk to the Contemporary or walk to monorail and it's the next stop. However, the walk to the monorail from the buses is only slightly shorter than the walk to the Contemporary and then you may have to wait for a monorail to arrive.

Enjoy & wave a napkin for me!:cool1:

I'll second that!!! Take the MK bus and then walk over to the CR. As you leave the bus drop off area, and head to the MK entrance, when everyone goes left, you go right...you will see the walkway to the CR...underneath the monorail line. It runs right beside the bus entry road. You will see it as you drive in. It takes under 10 mins to get to the CR.
For an 8:30 ADR, I would be out at the MK bus stop by 7:30.

Assuming our path is to take the bus from BC to MK and then the boat launch, how long do you recommend I allow for travel time as follows:

1. BC to HDDR

2. BC to CR (and is walking to CR from the MK bus area quicker than taking the boat launch there???)

In advance, thank you!!!

Dan

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the boards and looking for some help. I have heard that the monorail is going to be (or maybe already is) stopping operation 1 hour after MK closing. Is this true?

I am going to be in the World next month. I want to go to Epcot EMH one night. It ends at midnight and MK closes at 10. How do I get back to my room at CR? I mean, I assume I won't have to spend the night in Epcot, but it would be nice to know prior to going how this works rather than trying to figure it out on the fly.

Thanks for any help that anyone can provide.

I always figure on at least an hour when moving from point A to point B in WDW. Take, for instance, this possible scenario.
You get to the bus stop at BC at 3:30, to get the bus to the MK. Well, the bus has just left, so you face a wait of up to 20-25 mins (buses tend to be a bit less frequent at this time of day). So, the bus gets there at 3:50, and you then proceed to stop at the BW, then Swan, then Dolphin. Now, you are on your way to MK..it is now 4:10ish. You get to MK by 4:25. You head to the docks....and see the boat to FtW just leaving (man, your timing is off today). So, it could be another 20 mins before the next boat comes along. Now, it's 4:45...you get on the boat, and you're off to FtW. The boat heads to WL first, then over to FtW. You arrive at FtW by 5:15.
Will all that happen? Proabably not. But if you get one longish wait, you could use up more than an hour. So, plan accordingly.

As far as getting to the CR goes, yes, walking is quicker. It takes under 10 mins to make the walk over to the CR from the bus stops. You may face a wait for the boat. I never take the boat to the CR from MK...always walk.

The monorail has shortened it's hours of operation. BUT...if the monorail isn't operating when it's time for you to head back to the CR, there will be a bus available. Disney will not leave any guest stranded at any park. Won't be an issue.

Yes, it could be a very long wait for the boat -- like several years!;)

Boats don't normally run from MK to CR; the options are walking or monorail.
