Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Just keep in mind that these early buses tend to run a bit less frequently than the regular buses do....if you miss one, you could face a longish wait for the next one, maybe up to 30 mins!

I am staying at AKL and was able to get a 7:10 ADR at chef mickeys with EMH opening at MK at 8. If we catch the first bus at 6:30 will we be able to make the reservation?

It's going to be tight. I would take a cab.

6:30 is about the time bus service begins. That doesn't mean the first bus will leave each resort at exactly 6:30.

If you take the bus, be sure to tell the driver you have an early reservation at CR. Many drivers will try to get permission to drop you off there, especially at that hour and if you're the only family on the bus.

How would I get from the Port Orleans French Quarter to the Disney Yacht Club Kids activity Center? Trying to plan a special adult only evening and am confused about the whole transportation thing? Thanks in advance for any replies :)

Take the bus to DHS and then walk or take the boat to the Yacht club.

I couldn't find this anywhere, but we are staying at Port Orleans riverside and have an ADR at 1900 park fare for dinner. We would then like to to to the magic kingdom after. What would enjoy the best route for this trip? How long should each leg take? We have two small kids, so we won't be hurrying and will probably be having rest time at the resort before dinner. Thanks!

You generally need to change at a park or DTD to travel between 2 resorts.

Take the bus to MK, and then either the boat or the Resort Monorail to GF. The boat will probably be faster, but be forewarned that it's a small boat open to the wind, and can be uncomfortable if the weather is cold. The boat to GF docks right next to the Resort Monorail entrance at MK. Allow at least 1:15 for the trip, but it will probably take around 45 minutes.

Back to MK from GF, the Resort Monorail is a very short and easy ride. Up to 10 minutes wait, and the ride is less than 5 minutes.

If it were me, I would be very tempted to take a cab. That would be the fastest and easiest route. If you want to be more leisurely, you could take the boat to DTD, and then bus to YC/BC. But, plan on it taking at least 90 mins to do that.

Hi! We have an ADR at 1900 Park Fare at 8:20, and then after that we were planning on going to animal kingdom for that day. We are staying offsite, so is the easiest thing to drive to the Grand Floridian, and then drive to the parking lot for AK?

Thanks!!

You could to that...or you could park at the TTC (you have to pay for parking once anyway), then take the monorail over to the GF, have breakfast, and then take the bus from the GF to AK. Bus back to get your car. You could take the bus to MK, the Polynesian or GF....I would suggest the Polynesian. The bus from AK to the MK area used to go to the TTC, but I'm not sure if they are still doing that, or if all the AK buses now go directly to the MK bus stops vs TTC.
If you head to the Polynesian, from AK, it's a very short walk back to the TTC..under 10 mins, and very pretty. Well, until you leave Polynesian property!!

But you can park at the GF, have breakfast, then drive to AK and pay to park there if you think that works better for your plans.

Thanks so much! That was very helpful, and exactly what I needed to know :).

I'd like to try to catch the sing-a-long and movie at Fort Wilderness one night of my trip. I'll be coming from Magic Kingdom, so I think I should take the boat to Fort Wilderness and then either walk or take the internal Ft. Wilderness bus to the Meadow area.

After the movie is done, will there still be Disney transportation running to get back to my resort? If so, should I just reverse my path back to Magic Kingdom and get the bus from there to POP, or should I take the internal bus to the FW main entrance, and then take a bus from there to... DTD? Any open park? Then a bus to POP? Or should I just plan to take a cab?

Sorry, I am sure this is listed somewhere on this 171 page posting, but is there a master list of busses and where they go and connections to be made?

Basically, buses go from the resorts to the theme parks, water parks and DTD and back, as well as between parks. Connections only need to be made if you want to go from one resort to another, or if you want to go from a theme park to DTD (or vice versa).

No, but all you really need to know is that there is transportation between each resort and each of the 4 theme parks & DTD. That transportation is either bus, boat, or monorail. Buses from the resorts start running around 6:30 a.m.; buses back to the resorts run until the last Guest has left a park, and until 2 a.m. from DTD. Start & end times for boat & monorail service vary from that.

There is no service between 2 resorts; you generally have to transfer. It's usually best to go to the park nearest your destination while that park is open (or before opening in the morning), and transfer there to your destination resort. After the parks have closed, you need to transfer at DTD to get from 1 resort to another.

There is also service between any 2 parks, but not between a park & DTD -- for that you need to transfer at a resort.

When the waterparks are open, there is service between each resort and each waterpark. There is no service between the waterparks, and service between the parks & a waterpark is not available except in a few cases.

If you have specific questions, feel free to ask here, or ask any Transportation cm at WDW. (Warning: resort hotel staff sometimes give out inaccurate transportation info.)

What you said, pretty much sums it up.

If MK is still open, take the internal shuttle back to the Settlement, boat to MK, and bus to Pop.

If MK has closed, take the internal shuttle to the Outpost. If Epcot or Studios is still open, take the bus to there, and then bus to Pop. If everything has closed, take the bus to DTD and transfer there. Remember to take EMH into account; for transportation purposes, a park is still "open" until the end of EMH.

You can take a taxi, but you still need to first take the shuttle to the Outpost. I don't recall seeing many taxis hanging out around FtW, so you might need to call one (407-422-2222), or ask the front desk to call one for you.

The internal shuttle runs well into the early morning hours; no worries there.

Thanks. I just remember staying at various resorts and stopping at other resorts on the way, so I figured there was some system in place.

Thank you! My previous trips staying on site have been for the RunDisney races, so I didn't have a ton of time to explore. This trip I've got 10 days, so I'm looking to see the WDW outside of the parks. I think I understand all the nuances of the transportation, but it's nice to have my understanding confirmed.
