Official Glass Slipper Challenge Thread

This will be my first Princess (and GSC) and I'm not a WDW vet. Due to work schedules the longest we can stay is arriving late Wed and leaving early Mon. What are your suggestions for park touring strategies?

Last time I did princess, and this time again, I just take it easy the couple days before. I'm flying in/out the same days as you. Wednesday night I will do DTD, shop and have a good meal. I'm also planning this time to sign up for three tours that I have always wanted to do. I plan on sitting alot at parks to watch all the shows, plan on table service lunch and dinners to also get off my feet. On Sunday and Monday though I do mk after the race and walk alot. I've found after doing a few halfs now, that the worst thing is to go take a nap after the race. Get up and walk around and you will be less sore. So Sunday and Monday I'm up moving alot.

I think when people say they are going solo it's more that they are doing the whole weekend solo. Meaning nobody is traveling with them.

I don't travel to the races, I drive to them, but I live less than 5 minutes to Disney. Also, I am not staying at a resort, I'm going to stay at home and drive there. So technically, no, I'm not solo since my wife will be here with me at our house, but I'm running alone, so in that aspect, I'm solo.

I will be staying at POP or AoA haven't decided yet.

I am use to marathon weekend where every resort is a host hotel.

Does Princess have host hotels or can you get transportation from them all? I haven't done princess since the first one. I think I have some research to do ;)

I am travelling alone but because I have been part of the WISH & ROTE groups for so many years I know many who will be there and will probably do a meet or two but other then that I am game for a group meet for sure.

I am kinda nervous with just getting back to my room late at night but other then that I have no issues with travelling solo.

I have found that no matter how late it is, other people are going back to their rooms too. You're never really alone at Disney!

LOL very true!!!!

I will be booking flights really soon the prices are very good right now. I will be going in late on the Wed night and coming home on Wed, my birthday is Tuesday so gotta stay for that :)

Kim You know you'll never be solo with so many WISHers around!

Trying to do this trip on the cheap, so if stay onsite I would do Pop or AOA. I do all my Disney race travel solo (which at this point means all my Disney travel). Honestly, I enjoy it more that way. I'm on my own and can do what I want, when I want. I think the time I took myself to WDW to celebrate my 40th birthday made me realize how much fun that can be.

Of course, I do like group meet ups/ice cream socials/ whatever.

Maybe for Princess, we can take over the GF for Afternoon Tea?

:grouphug: Defiinately Maura just not sure who is all going this year really haven't seen a lot of WISHers posting on FB to know for sure.

I am hoping for AoA never stayed there we usually stay at POP but I have to check to see who the host hotels are in the values.

Tours are a great idea. We had a great, 11 day trip last year for the Wine and Dine half so I don't feel like we have to try to do it all. I've done several DL races and after taking a nice long shower, it's in the parks to stretch out the legs.

It's just the long flight home from FL I'm not looking forward to :-)

Agreed! I'm from Seattle and Dsis is from Vancouver, WA. We're taking the flight home with a layover. I can't imagine sitting for almost 6 hours a day or two after race weekend.

I'm from Vancouver WA too. DS lives in Seattle. He is running Tink again this year with me but not Princess.

I'm in! Was going to wait and see what happened w/ the 10k for Tink, but discovered I had more left over $ this paycheck than I thought so I registered, before the sensible part of my head say pay off credit cards. :rotfl2:

I am in with my MRTT group. Not sure if we're adding the 5k too but maybe. Right now it's just glass slipper :)

Staying at ASM tentatively. We currently have 7 folks confirmed but will probably end up with more. Had so much fun last year I can't wait!

Yay Kim!!

I can't believe I signed up for another challenge when I don't know how DDD will end up :-)

I will probably be solo or with a roomie-- haven't mentioned this to the hub yet. I booked points from someone off disboards - try your luck there for a reasonable onproperty resort.

All WDW resorts were hosts for this year's PHM :thumbsup2

::yes::

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'll not only be solo, I may be staying off-site and doing my post-race slow walking at a non-Disney theme park! :scared1::rotfl:
Honestly, there was much too much rushing and theme parking and not nearly enough down time during my PHM weekend this year. My main focus this time around will be REST and recovery. It helps that I'm a semi-local AP holder; I can happily skip the parks entirely or just go for an hour and not feel like I'm missing out.
I already have my room booked at POFQ. I was told by the CM that it always sells out first on race weekends because of how small it is. You may want to reserve your room now just in case!
I just called the reservation number on my confirmation (407-WDW-IRUN), and the CM told me they can't take reservations until tomorrow afternoon :confused3. How did you manage it, if you don't mind me asking? I'm going for POFQ also.
I made reservations through the regular reservation #. I'm hoping for an AP discount later
I just booked straight thru Disney, not run Disney. I'm pretty sure I will be able to beat the rundisney rate with having an AP. if all else fails I can switch to rundisney rate or even AAA if I need to. He told me I should have no problem using an AP rate when they come out.
Got a couple blog posts yall might be interested in!
