*****Official February 2015 Thread! Come check in and chat!*****

Ahhhh I can finally say WE LEAVE FOR DISNEYLAND NEXT WEEK! :yay::cool1::yay:

So I didn't do the laundry yesterday like I was going to, so I will be working on it all week after work. Packing day is Sunday so it all needs to be done by then!

I also contacted Alberta Public Health today and got an appointment for Wednesday for my measles booster shot. Figured better safe than sorry!

Things I still need to do:

  • Remind school that kids will be away
  • Get my booster shot (NOT a big fan of needles :scared1: )
  • Go to the bank and get my travellers cheques. I have already exchanged the money, just need to get the cheques
  • Finish laundry
  • Pack
  • Book our transportation to from LAX to GCH to Hollywood to LAX
  • Go through our travel folder and make sure all reservations, coupons, e-cards, etc. are in there
  • Lose the 25 pounds that I wanted to lose before vacation..... popcorn:: :confused3
  • Get my nails done and mayyyyyyyyyybe a pedicure
  • Finish all of my stuff at work before I go so I don't have to come back to a mess :rotfl:

Really, really, really need to get the transportation booked! That will be done tonight or tomorrow.

Don't forget your role of quarters for quarter press souvineers / laundry at hotel. :goodvibes

I hate doing laundry when I'm home, no way I'm doing it on vacation! :laundy: :rotfl:

I thought my kids would love the pressed pennies but they never really got into it. They've done a few here and there over the years but they are much more focused on pin trading. Actually, all of us are. We love it!!

Me too, but I usually end up running at least 1 load somehow unintentional. :rotfl2:

My kids have collected quarter/penny presses everywhere we travel. They love putting them in their books. We have a few Disney pins too. :goodvibes

Our son loves pressed pennies but we have not yet told him about pin trading. I'm not sure if it's something he would enjoy, he tends to not want to give up things he has collected so I doubt he would be willing to trade!

You guys, we leave in 5 days and the panic has set in. I've been planning this trip for months and all this stuff is happening at the last minute. The measles scare (kids are all vaccinated and DH & I were as kids, hopefully still protected), the issues with the planes being diverted/evacuated lately (I HATE FLYING), my son is fighting off a bad cough (we're all doubling up on vitamins). Seriously hoping all goes smoothly, no flight issues (did I mention I HATE flying?), nice warm weather when we get there and an amazing vacation.   :worried: :worried: :worried:

I hate flying too! I have had plugged ears and sore throat the last few days...allergies, I'm sure. But I am worried about flying feeling this way. My husband's ear drums ruptured on a flight a few years ago so I'm really paranoid now.

:lmao: Oh, well see, it was a great excuse to go shopping for new clothes! :thumbsup2

I am so OCD and I have the patience of a child... I get too excited and my mind plans too much, I have to pack as much as I can early on. I'm weird like that! It takes me forever too!

Do you like packing (like me) or do you dread it like most people?

I don't mind it. I can't pack too early because then I forget what I've packed or worry I've forgotten something so then I'd just have to redo it all anyway. Haha. My mom is going to come over the day before our trip (my husband will be working) so she can watch my son while I get all of the packing done.

I like packing! We are 12 days out and I haven't started yet, but I hope to by this weekend- at least for the kids!

Just realized that River Belle is serving brekfast until 2:00.... which means we can have Mickey Mouse Pancakes for lunch! :cool1:

We plan to have lunch there one day too. I want the cinnamon roll french toast.

Hubbie just had me order a portable (amazing how small) charger for our iphones since we use them for picture taking too. Since DIS kiddos are older now (8 & 10) pretty sure naps won't be an option...may do some down time, but we will play it by ear and see what kids up for, at any rate if we have a long day in the park we should keep charged up & ready for pics. :thumbsup2

That's exactly me too! My DH flew a couple years back and his ears wouldn't pop on the way down. He said it was the worst pain he has ever felt in his life. So I'm paranoid. Especially with my 3 year old. Smaller babies, you can give them a bottle and that helps get their ears to pop. Old kids you can give gum. He's kind of right in between those ages. Plus, he's had a bit of a cold so I'm even more worried. Hoping it's not too bad!

I'm totally getting those mugs from Starbucks! I collect coffee mugs because I drink coffee like a fiend :) The pictures on the micechat link are gorgeous... it makes me want to be there right now!

Those are totally on my must buy list as well! I got a couple of lovely Alice in Wonderland cups on our last trip and I use one every single day for my morning coffee but there is always room for more mugs! I might bring one into the office. :surfweb:

Me toooooo! They are way too cute!

I'll also be picking up a random coffee mug of some sort at one of the stores within the park. I got a Grumpy "I hate Mornings" mug for work last time we were there and I love it. Makes me think of DL every time I use it :lovestruc

This morning one of my employees saw me grabbing a coffee and mentioned how much she loved my cup and the 7 dwarfs, especially Dopey. I'll probably end up picking her one up as well.

While I was folding laundry today I realized that I can probably wear a different Doctor Who / Disneyland mashup tee shirt every day of our trip!

So, if you are in the parks February 9-13 and see someone wearing a Dr. Who disney shirt, say hi! :)

I'll watch for you at the hotel! I'll be wearing an assortment of Disney related t-shirts too. I think I have one for every day lol

Do you have any snacks that he can eat during take off and landing? Our son using a sippy cup so we're just going to put water in it. And then he loves graham crackers. As well as those fruit puree pouches so we're just going to give him those and hope for the best. I am definitely worried. Especially flying into and out of John Wayne airport because the take off and landing are so drastic.

I want those mugs too. We have a lot of various Disney mugs but we can always use more. :) I hope they aren't sold out.

I picked up one of these too since I'm sure I'll be very low by lunch. They are so handy!

I had this happen once also, worst pain, couldn't hear, but it went away by the end of the day. My son does great on flights, except when the pressure changes for landing, he cries and rubs his ear, nothing helps until we get of the plane, not gum, lollipop, or drinking. He is 6. We finally bought him the airplane pressure plugs, and it is a life changer for him. No more issues. You might want to consider them, I found them at Target, Walmart, and our local grocery store. They are also reusable and come in a handy case. I believe they say put in at least 30 mins before landing or you can wear them the whole time. My kids actually put them in and still wear their headphones to play on the ipads. However, we do have over the ear headphones.

I read on mice chat they are sold out of those mugs :( I wanted one too!

True...but Micechat was reporting this on January 26th.

UPDATE — January 29, 2:12 p.m.: It has come to our attention that the Disney Parks-branded Starbucks items at both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure were completely sold out by Sunday, January 28. There is no official word on when more will be available but due to the popularity of these items we’d expect more to arrive soon.

I can only assume that this means that a time traveler works for Micechat. :rotfl:
