*****Official February 2015 Thread! Come check in and chat!*****

You guys, we leave in 5 days and the panic has set in. I've been planning this trip for months and all this stuff is happening at the last minute. The measles scare (kids are all vaccinated and DH & I were as kids, hopefully still protected), the issues with the planes being diverted/evacuated lately (I HATE FLYING), my son is fighting off a bad cough (we're all doubling up on vitamins). Seriously hoping all goes smoothly, no flight issues (did I mention I HATE flying?), nice warm weather when we get there and an amazing vacation.   :worried: :worried: :worried:

It's all good. Just take a deep breath and keep telling yourself that in less than one week you are going to be in the happiest place of earth!

And if needed, a glass of wine on the plane is rarely a bad idea.

If I packed that far in advance, I'd have no clothes to wear. Ha! We leave in 8 days. I will be packing in 7 days.

:lmao: Oh, well see, it was a great excuse to go shopping for new clothes! :thumbsup2

I am so OCD and I have the patience of a child... I get too excited and my mind plans too much, I have to pack as much as I can early on. I'm weird like that! It takes me forever too!

Do you like packing (like me) or do you dread it like most people?

I totally hear you.... just keep telling yourself in 5 days you'll be there and you won't have to worry about it anymore, and all of your hard work and planning will have paid off. These things that are out of our control stink, stink I tell ya! But it will all be okay and you will have an amazing time! :upsidedow

I like packing! We are 12 days out and I haven't started yet, but I hope to by this weekend- at least for the kids!

Just realized that River Belle is serving brekfast until 2:00.... which means we can have Mickey Mouse Pancakes for lunch! :cool1:

Here's what I have going on...

I am getting my titer done tomorrow to see if I still have immunity to measles. I was born in the early 80's, I think I am okay but I want to be 100%. My DS6 is up to date for sure. My DH was born in the late 60's, so he is most likely good but refuses a blood draw and/or a booster....sooo... yeah. :confused3

I come from a part in Oregon where the weather is super mild. I do.not.wear.shorts. So I am packing my standard leggings and jeggins that I live in. I am bringing light t-shirts for day time and will layer that with hoodies and light jackets for morning/night. Bringing tennis shoes but found last time I went in Feb. my boots were the most comfortable so bringing 1 pair. Also bringing flip flops to walk around the hotel in.

Painting my toe toes like Mickey!

Made hair appointments for DS (cut) and myself (cut and color).

Everything is booked and paid for.

Ordered more Disney gift cards from Target now that they are back in stock.

Things to do:

Notify my DS's school he will be gone!
Confirm hotel (again lol)
Confirm shuttles to from/ SNA, Universal and Knott's.
Get nails done.
Keep the house tidy (hate coming hope to a messy house after a vaca)
Order groceries from Von's as soon as my date is available (list is done)

That is the beauty of being summer here and winter there - we have been packed for 3 weeks, that way would could work out if we needed buy anything, so hard trying to buy winter things in summer so we would need a bit longer to find things, but we could pack clothes and not worry about having nothing to wear.

Totally hear you, we leave in 4 days, two planes and I am beyond terrified, 15 hours in a tin can over a huge ocean type of terrified. The panic set in last week, about passports, visas, money, cards...I am terrified I am going to forget something really important.

I don't mind packing but I have done it enough that I pretty much have it down to an art. The only real x-factor this trip is the weather, all of our other trips have all been when it was so hot it was definitely shorts and tank top or t-shirt weather. Since I wear flip flops well into October, it will definitely be flip flop weather! :) Although to be honest, I generally pack no fewer than 3 times because I always over pack the first two times.

That would be such fun! We have a 9:40 am reservation there, if I had known about the late breakfast, I would definitely have booked for later on.

I've still got a few things left to do. I'm a little bit of a control freak so I already have all of our paperwork printed and in a folder. (flight info, hotel confirmation, Orbitz tickets, calendar with DL and DCA hours and our various reservations...)
  • Remind DS's school about our vacation.
  • Book pedi and if my nails are not totally wrecked, a mani.
  • Try on capris and shorts from last summer, swear when they don't fit and then try and buy new ones. In Canada. In January.
  • Book eyebrow appointment
  • Check the exchange rate and cry because I should have bought the US$ a few weeks ago when it was bad but not ugly
  • Remind my mother that she promised to give us a lift to the airport
  • Debate endlessly about getting American $ vs using credit card
  • Pack X3
  • Remember the other 15 things I wanted to do before we left, decide that 13 of them can wait.

I am always convinced that I am forgetting something super important but this is what I always tell myself when we travel.

As long as I have our passports, one credit card and my prescriptions, everything else can be replaced.

This made me snort laugh. :lmao:

True, I know I have them all in my bag, but I know I will stop on the hwy on the way to the airport to double check, I do that all the time travelling domestic with the plane tickets, always think I have forgotten them...lol

As a fellow super organized/control freak, I'm loving your list.

My 2cents about exchanging money... I would exchange some. Yes, it's painful, I bought $300 US on Saturday, it cost me $381. I mostly take small bills for little things like ice cream, popcorn, tips, etc. You'll want some cash, so just get a bit. Then put everything else on your credit card or visa debit card (my personal preference).

Don't forget call credit card company & bank & info where your traveling to so you don't have any problems using your cards. Also look into cell phone, find out your international coverage since traveling out of country-if you need to place calls. And one last thing, this one I will be doing, due to the length of our stay..have Post Office hold mail at post office until we return. :grouphug:

Thanks for the reminder about credit card notification! I can do it online and in fact have just done so!

Our cell phone rates for out of country are ridiculous so I always get a US travel pack add on. Again, thanks for the reminder to get that done!

I never worry about our mail, our awesome next door neighbours have our key and they just collect it for us and drop it on the counter. They are actually going to be in Australia while we are in CA but their dog/house sitter is going to grab the mail for us. :thumbsup2

Jasy, I agree with you about the US cash...as painful as the exchange is going to be! DS has a Disneyland piggy bank and he's got $72 that will have to be exchanged so while I am there I might as well get a few hundred for us.

We leave on 2/1 and I'm so glad to have the first work day of the week done! I started packing yesterday for my kids (3&4) and think I'll start for myself tonight. Yesterday I went to Target and loaded up on goodies for the trip. They had a ton of Frozen things in the Dollar Spot that I picked up. Frozen books, pencils, stickers, and chocolate in addition to little rubber finger puppets and some snacks for their surprise packs on the plane.

I also scored some fun light up toys to plant in the room for when we return in the evening as a "gift from Mickey". Each of the kids also have their respective Cars and Frozen lunch box thing (small) so they can take it to the Club at PPH and pick out their breakfast and snacks to bring back to the room to eat.

I'm SO excited! Now I'm plotting our potential replacement for the autograph books of pillow cases and fabric markers. Oh decisions decisions.
