*****Official February 2015 Thread! Come check in and chat!*****

Wasn't sure if anyone knew this or not.

Last time we were here we stayed at PPH, it seemed pretty standard that all rooms came with the couch/daybed in the room.

This time we will be staying at DLH, and I was wondering if the couch/daybed is standard in the 2 queen rooms or if it's kind of a roll of the dice? Should I call the night before and note it on our reservations? We're going 2/24 so during the Dapper Day time frame and really need that option as it will be my dad, myself and my 3 yr old son traveling/staying together.

TIA! :)

I don't think that people are not entitled to be upset about the closures, I just happen to not be too upset. I absolutely think that people are allows to be upset, especially given the constraints of time and money that some people here have.

I just try not to spend a lot of time worrying about things that I can't change. The rides will be open or they will not but I can't change that. The only thing I can change is how I react.

It would be really nice if Disney would offer a discount because of the closures but I can't remember them ever doing that, sadly.

So, please complain away, I get needing to vent but please don't get annoyed because not everyone feels the same way.

Well said and I agree!

I ordered these for my kids. My husband is anti matching shirts, so I just did the kids. Little does he know I might buy some for the whole family for Aulani :rotfl: I am pretty sure he would wear them if I just bought it.

Very cute. My oldest DD-10.5 is not into matching her DS-just turned 8. She is a little on the short side (ok a lot) and her DS-8 is the same height as her. For the past 3 years everywhere we go people ask if they are twins, which shes a little sensitive to. So I ordered them some cute tees & sweatshirts for each of them, but not matching as that would get me into deep water in my house-LOL.:laundy:

Re: Fantasmic. Dinner at Blue Bayou if 2 shows that night 4:30-6:30 reservations are for the first show and 6:30 on are 2nd show.

End of Jan of 2013. Rides down were:
BTMRR
Small World
Railroad
Splash Mt.
PRincess FAntasy Fair
Terrace by Space
Alice
GRR
?Alladin

Not too bad but my biggest complaint was during the trip TSMM, HM and RSR went down a lot. I am hoping the rides don't go down as much.

Re the castle and what is going on with it being covered...
I missed a call from someone at Disney on New Years Eve. I am expecting that she will call again on Monday and I will update the thread if I am able to get an answer one way or other.

Re Changing trip times - we too knew that this was "the off season" but I had no idea that it would mean that so many things were closed. Normally I thought it was like 1 big ride and a few smaller things at a time. Disneyland IS the Castle and the Steam Trains and now neither of those will be available for our trip. That is very frustrating, I'd LOVE to change our dates honestly and if Disney posted their blasted schedule ahead of time there is no way we would be going when we are. I called the airline today - guess how much it is to change our flights???? $2800!

IDK I know I've mentioned this before and I don't want to beat a dead horse :) but I'm sick and I don't know if we are ever going to go to Disneyland again ... ever. Who knows maybe we will but I need to treat this trip like it's the last and if I had know that so much of the magic was going to be covered in traps, drained of water, or closed I would have held out a little longer. I absolutely think that Disney should be offering a discount or "something" to make up for all of this. It isn't like they never, ever do things that are special like fast passes for volunteering or dream passes etc and it seems like now when a LOT of people are likely to be disappointed with their vacation would be a good time to be doing that. I TOTALLY think everyone should be letting Disney know we aren't happy to be paying the same price and receiving less value.

Try spending atleast $6000 (not including spending money) for the trip of a life time, others on here have spent more, only to find many things closed.

Coming from Australia, we picked February to come over, as the flights out of Australia were so much cheaper in February, as it is the end off our 6 week christmas school holidays.

I never for a moment gave any thought to refurbs nor the anniversary, none of that crossed my mind. This trip is a graduation present for my daughter, now with so many closures, I feel I have let her down, I promised her an amazing time in Disneyland, will she still get that - I just don't know.

I have saved up all her school life, for this trip, to change our dates would cost a fortune, we may never ever get back, this is our one and only time.

So easy to say "go in the peak times" well I for one thought Disney was full on all the time, I didn't realise that they had a low season. I don't eat, live and breathe Disneyland - So shoot me.

I am still excited to go, but very disappointed that we will miss so much.

Is exciting isn't it...We leave Australia in exactly 1 month, this time in a month, I will be in the airport waiting for our plane

I do that too. Exactly one month from right now, it will be 9:15pm in Anaheim. We will hopefully be getting ready for bed. Though I am thinking it may be a struggle for our son in the hotel room. Ugh. I don't want to think about it...ha!

I know that in the past, both WDW and DLR have offered various discounts during the "slow" seasons. But these days, it seems like there's not longer a truly slow season.

In the past week or two, both of the Disneyland twitter accounts have posted photos of things that will be closed in February. It's a conspiracy! Haha!

I keep trying to remind myself of the good rides that WILL be open (well, they should be anyway) on our trip. Thankfully that's still a nice, long list.

I had emailed Disney to see if I could find out some more info on if, when etc the sleeping beauty castle might be under refurbishment & they did email me back. This is what they said:

:sad2:

"Our Sleeping Beauty Castle will go under refurbishment beginning January 19th & will return March 3rd".

I had asked if the walk through would be open or if the castle would be covered, but they did not answer that part or give specifics.

Just a guess (or wishful thinking lol) but don't you think they'd want to do the outside refurb closer to the official 60th anniversary start date, if it was in fact the diamond décor that people suspect? Does anyone remember when the refurb on the outside of the castle was done for the 50th? We were there for the 50th but not until the February midway through. Just wondering if the refurb for that décor was started so early. :confused3

I'm heading to bed now so I am too tired to google and see if I can find it. But I just looked at my photos...I was there in March 2005 and May 2005. In March, the castle did NOT have a tarp. I can't tell if it had the decorations up or not because apparently I didn't get a photo of the front of the castle...ha! But when I went in mid-May, it did have the 50th stuff on it.

If you're bored and want to do some digging...this would be a good place to start...

About the current refurb list:

Peter Pan -- Wish this one was opened. While we don't usually ride it a lot, we always try to get on it a couple of times.
Splash Mountain -- Rode it when it was chilly out in the past and it was miserable lol We LOVE this ride but when we were there for Christmas last year, we only went on it once. Definitely not something we want to go on if it's chilly.
Winnie the Pooh -- Not upset, as we don't usually go on it
Matterhorn -- New cars SUCK, so I'm not upset about this one (my kids are though lol)
Critter Country -- Only go there for Splash and the treats, which we can get elsewhere.
The Railroads -- VERY upset about this one. We LOVE going on this in the evening when we are tired and just ride it around a couple of times to rest before continuing on with our evening.
Castle Refurbishment -- Praying it's just the walkthrough!
Soarin -- Enjoy this one but not completely disappointed
World of Color -- Seen it once and to be completely honest, I'd take Fantasmic a million times over WOC
Grizzly River Run -- See Splash response lol
Ariels Grotto -- Eaten there once, was so sick afterwards that I didn't make it back to the park for 2 days. Never again!

I guess everyone loves different attractions but I'm "okay" with this list. Would I love for everything to be open? Sure! I also love a quieter crowd, which February definitely is!

For those of you disappointed with the refurb list because it's a once in a lifetime trip or you have been saving for quite some time, I'm sorry that you won't get to experience everything. :( Just try to remember, you are in DISNEYLAND! Even with some closures, you will have an AMAZING TIME!!! Other than when we went at Christmas, I don't think I've been there any other time when everything was open. We didn't feel cheated or disappointed at all on any of those other trips. You will have a great time and just enjoy what is open. Trust me, there is tons of stuff to do! :goodvibes

So the plus side to this many refurbs is maybe less crowds, right? I will miss World of Color, and Matterhorn and probably Pooh (we are going right after my 2yos birthday and I think he would love it) but TSMM is still open, RSR, Dumbo,

Oh, are the storybook boats open? They have been down the last 2 times we went. I'm really hoping that there are no crowds as I'm trying to convince DH we need APs this year and he thinks because we are going to DL in Feb and doing the EBPC cruise that we are good.

The one I really wish would be open is the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail :( my kids always had a wonderful time in there and it's not as stimulating as the rest of the parks.

Okay, so I found this:

http://www.mouseplanet.com/6523/Disneyland_Park_Update

Posted September 7, 2004 and they already had the castle closed, expected to open November 23, 2004. So it was closed wayyyyyy before the anniversary start date back then. Does this mean anything? No lol Still praying it's just the walkthrough.

Yes, crowds will be lower, especially because of the closures. Friends that went a couple of years ago in February said it was amazing and could get on everything without major wait times. When I went in February, we unknowingly went around the Presidents Day weekend and the week after. It was insane! Not as bad as Christmastime but still pretty busy!

I have not read anything about the storybook canal boats. I think you'll get to see them! :yay:

I have never once been through that lol I guess what I don't know, I won't miss, right?

And I just have to say...........WE ARE OFFICIALLY ONE MONTH AWAY FROM OUR VACATION!! Tonight, in exactly one month, we will be in our hotel near the airport. I'm so excited! lol

Last night we purchased some stuff for our Hollywood portion of our trip (Feb 11-14). We are going to a hockey game (Go Flames Go!), TMZ Tour and the WB Studio Tour. We are looking so forward to all of those, especially the hockey game!

Sometime in the next week or so, we will purchase our park tickets for DL. Then the countdown will really begin. So close now! :yay:

Hi all. We will be visiting for three days between 2/9 and 2/12. I'm a bit bummed about a few of the closures but nothing would be sadder than not being able to at least see the outside of the castle. This is our first time to DL and we are only able to visit because my husband is retiring from the Navy and the ceremony is the weekend before. I know we'll have a great time even with ride closures. It's not like we'd be able to see everything in three days anyway but the castle. Oh goodness. I hope it isn't covered up. Fingers crossed. We'll roll with the punches I suppose.

I am trying not to let it get me down, like you say, we are in Disneyland....We are in America, we are going to see an ice hockey game, we are going to the world famous sea world and San Diego zoos, tours of Hollywood and LA, there will still be so much exciting things to see and experience. I expected a few closures, like you do at any theme park, but there is so many in Februay... It is just the closures bums me out.

I am spending 15 hours on a flight, that is going to terrify the day lights out of me, I want ALL the magic when I land ;)

Is exciting, we are one month out too...we will be flying but landed at the same time - time zones are wonderful, I get to confuse my daughter with that one...lol Our flight leaves sydney at 11.45 am on 1/2/2015 and lands in LA at 6.30 am on 1/2/2015
