*****Official February 2015 Thread! Come check in and chat!*****

I can't book resies yet. I need another week and then I can! I am pretty sure we'll do rainforest Cafe the night we arrive (that is something we do every time we go). I know I want to eat at Blue Bayou one night or afternoon and I need to do a character meal for DD4 birthday. She is not really into princesses and we loved Stitch at Mickeys Surfs up so we may do that again however it was a far walk for us. Hmm decisions, decisions.

As for tickets, I think I'll either do getawaytoday or through my company. They are within $100 of each other but I usually get some deals at getaway. I was hoping for some awesome deal, but nothing yet.

The Princess breakfast seems to be down in early Feb. I am hoping they move it- but we are booked for Storyteller's for now.

Clara!!! Look at this link! It shows Small World as reopening Feb 5 and with the 1/26 closure date. To quote the greatest movie ever "So- you're telling me there's a chance!"

I have been stalking refurb lists and this one seems the most up to date with known closures. Now, this also stinks because it confirms the closure of both the trains and Redwood Creek (and to a much lesser extent Grizzly River Run) for our visit.

I hope that's right! That means Pooh, Small World, and Pacific Wharf will all open during our trip. Woohoo! Our park days are (probably) the 4th, 5th, 8th, 9th, and 10th.

The only one on that list I'm sad about = trains.

:cheer2::cheer2:WHOO HOO!!!!:cheer2::cheer2:

hope that is the case...You have made me very happy :cheer2::cheer2:

now to just have everything else re-open whilst we are there and THAT would be super awesome

I am also worried that other things will pop up after the 5th.

It's funny because this trip...the things I'd be sad about missing are WAY different than the things I'd be sad about before I had my son. Now, I really don't want the 'kiddie' rides to be closed and I really don't care about the e-tickets much.

I agree totally! Like Redwood Creek's closure is not a deal breaker, but puts a kink in our plans for sure!

I have mixed feelings on the e-tickets. My son was over 42" last summer at 3.5 when we went to Sea World, so he can go on most everything and is a daredevil. My daughter is more average height, so she's like 37ish inches. She was right at 36" at the fair a few months back. So every e ticket closed is one more he misses yet it's one more ride she doesn't have to wait through. We plan to take her to alternate rides, so it's not obvious waiting, but she will still figure it out! We are already planning on going again in June 2016 and staying a week so we can hit the pool and stuff. She will be at least 40" by then so that will be fun to have their first times together.

I'm not sure when our next trip will be. We hope to add another child into the mix in the (somewhat) near future. If that happens, we'll wait until that child is at least 18 months-ish. I would love if that fell around Christmastime some year because I haven't seen the Christmas decorations since 2007 and I just love them.

If God doesn't have another baby in our plans before early December 2016, perhaps will plan a trip for that time.

We took the kids at Christmas time in 2012. It was beautiful and the Santa in DCA... well, I swear he's the real guy! We took both kids at 9 and 10 months and this was a great age in our experience. My son has been 3 times- 10, 13 and 27 months. I think 10 months was the easiest- so easy we returned with DVC and a little sister! 27 months was fun- he "got it" more but had his meltdowns. He was an awful colicky miserable baby until 6 months or so (which is why I always advise people who are pregnant and want to take a trip when the baby is like 3 months old. It will likely be easy- but if that baby has colic- true colic where he screams like his arms are being ripped from their sockets for 5 hours straight every night and fusses all day long.... yeah.... that baby will be NO fun on vacation! I am fairly confident we would have been asked to leave the hotel if we had tried it at that age.... anyway, I digress!). After 6 months- he was Mr Mellow and still is. But he did have more meltdowns than I liked at 2 in DL! 13 months was hard. We joke it's a good thing we are Disney nuts or we might never have returned.

I am looking forward to this one a lot!

Our son had true colic. It was awful. Even now, he's not a great sleeper. So I'm really nervous for this trip. But I couldn't wait until he was any older. This is, however, the youngest I will ever do. I have no desire to vacation at DLR with a child who can't walk. I was getting pretty nervous but in the past month my son has finally started walking. Thank goodness!

Colic is so hard! I still feel robbed of the sweet easy newborn stage I hear about! My daughter was much easier as a baby, but way harder after 12 months so I guess it's a trade off! She's my bad sleeper though. I say for us, the silver lining to 5 hours of screaming and horrible naps was he was so worn out, he slept through at like 12 weeks and has woken at night less than 10 times since. My daughter is still a light tough sleeper, so don't hate me! And they both are up before 6:00 every. Single. Day.

We had a little one with colic and that was MISERABLE. I can't imagine trying to travel with a screamer! The youngest we've ever taken a kiddo was 6 months and I won't ever do it again. He was awesome and actually enjoyed the trip, he wasn't just carted around, but he got really, really sick. It "could" have happened anywhere but it made me more hesitant to take our other children on big trips with lots of crowds etc.

Our youngest on this trip with be 2 but I have zero concerns whatsoever about melt downs, napping schedules, or any of the regular things that parents of toddlers worry about. Babes is a combination of youngest of 5, and a "sick kid" as an infant, which has given her an amazing ability to handle EVERYTHING. Our little kids 2, 3, 5 this trip but they all function basically like 5 - 6 year olds. Our older boys are 11 and 12 and are right in that in-between stage, they are very responsible and helpful but are still just children too so we haven't hit sulky teens who think their parents suck yet - lol.

In an unrelated, related matter - lol. Our youngest got her cast off finally! She broke her leg in Oct and what was supposed to be 6 weeks turned into 12! She is very quickly learning to walk again but likely needs physio - our trip is over a month out though so she "might" be able to walk the lines! I want to bring our stroller from home but DH doesn't --- if we rent do any of you have suggestions on where to rent from?

That is great news! That must have been tough to manage a broken leg with such a young one. We have used and are using http://citystrollerrentals.com for an offsite stroller rental. Last time we had a great experience and hope to this time. I'm not entirely sure how much we will need it this time, but we will see. This is our last stroller trip- yay!!

Hi friends!!

I am here to join the fun. We just went to DL this month but ended up buying Deluxe AP. We hope to head back down to DL for two days in February.

The kiddos won't know about our trip this time around since we will pick them up a little early from school and take off. So excited to be in the magic again so soon. Hoping we can maybe swing the DL hotel or PP hotel... but we will see.

Can't wait to hear all about your excitement and join in on the fun! :)

No set date yet but will let you know when we nail it down.

Welcome to the thread! I can add your info when you finally nail down your dates!

We measured the girls this weekend and my 8 year old is 55 inches and my 4 year old is 46 inches. That means that we are soooo close to being able to ride everything! The 4 year old might make it to 48 inches with shoes on by February for CA Screamin LOL.

We are still keeping it a secret and they have no idea. I'm so excited.

We are also keeping it a secret but DH wants us to tell him on Christmas. I was thinking of wrapping up a fake Disneyland "ticket" but then realized that I am the least artsy person in the world and have no idea how to make one! :confused3

I poked around in the Creative DISigns section but it seems I left it way too late. :headache:

After too many years, I'm back on the Dis and planning a trip to celebrate my 40th at Disneyland. This is a surprise trip for my 11 year old who will be finding out on Christmas morning. Our dates are 2/4-2/7 and staying at either Park Vue or Carousel Inn. Any thoughts on the two? We've stayed at Park Vue but not Carousel. Nice to see so many familiar names :)

Welcome! I'll add you to the list today!

We've stayed at Park Vue Inn twice and would go back there if our first choice (Desert Inn) is not available. We have never been to the Carousel so I can't help there. Park Vue is a little more expensive than some other places but their hot breakfast is quite good which can make up for the extra cost.

I spent both my 40th and 42nd birthdays at Disneyland and although it is going to be about a week early, we are going to be celebrating DH's 40th this trip! There is nowhere else I would have wanted to turn 40 more than disneyland.
