What's the deal with knowing the hours? Getting into the park earlier? (Newbie alert)

Basic reasons to know the hours are to make plans--if it's a later opening (say, 10am), breakfast ressies will be later too (9am, I believe); the later the opening, and the later the "early entry," the larger the crowds there at opening and/or early entry. With an earlier early entry, crowds are smaller, and you can get more done. Not so much when the parks open later, since the locals won't make the effort to get there at 7am, but getting the kids to the parks for a 10am opening is simple! Similarly, with an earlier close (say, 8pm) crowds are going to stay longer than if it's a later closing. Remember, Disneyland is a locals park, so the crowds tend to thin out on weekday evenings/nights, as well as after little ones' bedtimes, but if closing time is 8pm, the locals may just stay until closing since it's "just a little past the kids' bedtime" when they get home, versus leaving at 7pm because they aren't willing to close the parks out at 10 or 11pm.

That logic makes a lot of sense. (Well, except local school-aged kids aren't going to be in the parks on weekdays unless school happens to be out.)

I thought I read that Pacific Wharf (restaurant) will be closed during our stay. But I can't recall where I read it. Anyone know?

Looks like it will be closed until March 15th according to touringplans.com. :( So sad about that, as we always look forward to eating there.

Aw man! We always get a few loaves to take home with us. My husband is going to be so bummed!

I made a 12:30pm BBQ reservation for us on Sunday the 8th. It made me enter my credit card info. It said I have to cancel within the restaurants allotted time or whatever. But it never told me what that window of time is. So annoying.

I assume my son is free since he's under 3 so I just made the reservation for two people. Hope that's what I was supposed to do.

It's 24 hours to cancel or you will be charged $10/person on the reservation.

As for your son, I am not sure if he needs to be noted on the reservation or not.

Mice Chat - believable or not??? I remember seeing a post the other day about them, but can't remember what it said and now i can't find it

This was posted on MiceChat on 28/11/2014 in regard to WOC going down

Note: Fantasmic! will perform at 7:30p on weekdays, while World of Color goes dark on Jan. 6th - TBA for rumored refurbishment. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, there are no fireworks spectacular, making Fantasmic! to perform 8:45p, and 10:45p on those three days. Mickey's Soundsational Parade will return, with it's normal time; 4:00p, and 6:30p on those three days, while it will perform at 4:00p on weekdays not including Friday. Luigi's Flying Tires will NOT close Jan. 12 as the MiceChat rumors had suggested.

So does that mean NO fireworks at all whilst WOC is down??

7:30 Fantasmic would be awesome! If that happens now I have a whole other decision to make about how to handle the fast pass situation!

Weird. I heard Fantasy in the Sky was coming back after Christmas.

I am really getting nervous about Small World being down for our trip. Ugh.

Ooooh, which one are you doing?

I picked blue Bayou because we were going to make reservations for their dinner anyway. So I spent a little more I know but wanted to try this. The agent said that we get souvenir seat cushions and it's the only area that you get to sit down during Fantasmic.

That's the one I think we are going to do, looking forward to hearing some reviews of it before we go!

Hi, can you tell me, do you get to book certain tables or is it pot luck and also do you know is it a good view from any table? I am not able to ring and book, I can only do it online.

Just looked again at Jan & this is exactly what looks to be happening. Fri, Sat, Sun Fantasmic shows scheduled for 8:45 & 10:45 + and weekdays at 7:30 + No Fireworks (BOO) Hoping they will be added later...sigh

I also noticed Grizzly River Run was added to refurb list (starting Jan 19th) not sure for how long.

I think everything more than 60 days out is speculation. Touring Plans has Grizzly down for one day on 1/20. So, clearly there's some info out there, but nothing certain.

Will one of my February buddies please explain the Fantasmic change? Something about getting FP's like WOC? Is it project to work about the same? Get a FP in the morning, show up about 90 mins early for the show?
