*****Official February 2015 Thread! Come check in and chat!*****

It's near the bottom of their most recent update, from the 19th. They are staggered.

Found it. Thanks!

Grand Californian Hotel – Mickey Pool: Closed through January 21 for refurbishment.
•Grand Californian Hotel – Redwood Pool: Closed through February 3 for refurbishment.
•Grand Californian Hotel – Mariposa Pool: Closed February 4-6 for refurbishment.
•Grand Californian Hotel – Mariposa Spa: Closed February 9-11 for refurbishment.

Thankfully most are open during our stay. :cheer2:

Staggered makes it better, but it is still annoying me to no end. Especially the thought of construction noise. I've rolled with the punches that are the massive ride closures, but learning this a week before our trip, royally stinks. I have accepted and scaled back expectations, but time at the pool is something I was really looking forward to. My kid has been talking about the slide, and it is one of the things on the closure list during our visit.
I know this is small potatoes, but it is just too close not to be disappointed. Especially since we're now close enough that the weather report looks like it will be heavenly.

I am feeling very excited; just booked this week for February 6-9: my first ever AP expires in a few weeks and it is great to get in one more trip with my db who is my fellow DL traveler! I just got a pretty good rate today for two nights at our favorite hotel, the GC, through Orbitz--even better than the AP rate. We are going to try the F! dinner at the BB. Wow--it is so wonderful to think about having a long weekend of fun in one of my favorite places!

Welcome to the thread, I've added your info to the first post!

Sooooo.... We may be postponing our trip now. :( the whole measles thing is making us worried. Our son is too young for the vaccination. Our doctor said she would still go, but that was before there were more cases. Ugh. So sad. I'm even pricing out disneyworld right now, but I'm not sure that's going to be feasible.

Hope you get it all worked out!

I don't really blame you. What a mess... Sorry you might have to cancel.

Just an FYI :

Disneyland Hotel Monorail Pool: Closed through February 8 for refurbishment.
Grand Californian Hotel – Storytellers Cafe: Closed through February 6 for refurbishment.
Grand Californian Hotel – Mickey Pool: Closed through January 21 for refurbishment.
Grand Californian Hotel – Redwood Pool: Closed through February 3 for refurbishment.
Grand Californian Hotel – Mariposa Pool: Closed February 4-6 for refurbishment.
Grand Californian Hotel – Mariposa Spa: Closed February 9-11 for refurbishment.

As posted on Micechat blog - the Disneyland Monorail pool will be closed until approximately February 6th.

I did call the hotel directly and they gave an estimated completion date of early February 5th or 6th as of this time. She did state that it would depend on how quickly they can complete the work.

I definitely can understand the frustration of it though as it did appear last minute and as many guests do resort days or half days it can put a damper on plans.

Thankfully the E ticket and D ticket pools will remain open at the Disneyland Hotel.

I understand about the measles scare. I just made my 4 year old an appt for his second MMR before we go. But honestly, I don't think DL is especially more dangerous than any other large popular venue, including WDW. You gotta do what you are comfortable with though.

70-80 is way too cold for this AZ blood to swim! It never even crossed my mind! But I guess if you were looking forward to it, that stinks.

DS is up to date on his vaxes, I had the titers test done when I was pregnant and DH had to be up to date on his vaxes when he was in the Navy so we should all be good.

I hear you about the temp, I only swim in an outdoor pool when the temps get above 28C! (83ish for you Americans :) )

We have 8 days to go...the panic, fear and worry of "have I got everything" is starting to set in now. Not even worried/upset about closures any more, the fear has taken care of that...lol

:cheer2::cheer2: whoo hoo for 8 days :cheer2::cheer2:

Hey -
Thanks for the heads up RE measles! If I hadn't read this thread I wouldn't have known that it was still an issue at DL. I have NO IDEA if DH and I are immune or not so we are getting boosters tomorrow :)

RE strollers we are renting from City too. Our little kids are 2, 3 & 5 so we are getting the City GT with the glider board.

We are just over two weeks out for our trip and are getting VERY excited. All the reservations and things are done - although I didn't reserve any meals. With a family of 7 I don't think we are going to do any of the fancy meals. It just seems silly to drop $200 - $300 for one meal especially when 4 of our kids hardly eat ANYTHING. I guess they could share but it seems rude to take up a huge table and have 4 kids share 1 meal - lol. DH, DS1 and I can eat like normal people so we all enjoy a nice meal but the others could live on yogurt, peanut butter, apples, cereal and granola.

It's been said I believe by the chief Dr on Disneyland staff that if you are not vaccinated you should not come to the parks or go anywhere that there are large groups of international tourists for that matter.

Being at the other end of life....we are grand parents now! There are years and years ahead for these trips! The health of your little one is far more important right now! We are on a roadtrip to California right now and are booked to be in DL from Feb 1 on ..... hubby and I were both vaccinated, but our dear daughter is due exactly 21 days after our last day at Disneyland.... by then we would know if we were going to get it even though we were immunized, however, if she delivers early, we won't go see them until after the full 21 day incubation period is over..... Or we just may not go now after all. We have had to cancel trips in the past...like in 2010 when I got my cancer diagnosis 1 week before we were to leave. It was hard, but the right thing to do, and 7 months later....the day after I finished my chemotherapy, before I had to start radiation.... we made the trip!! and then another one 4 months later after that!! I find half the fun is in the planning anyway!! maybe look at september, when it's a bit more quiet like now, but there won't be so many closures then! Best of luck whatever you decide!
Oh and I guess my name can get added to the list for now anyway!! Feb 1 through 12th

Welcome to the thread! I've added you to the first post but if you want me to add your hotel, please let me know.

From one survivor to another, I want to say hi! If you were dx in 2010, you must be hitting your 5 year mark this year, what a great milestone!

December 12th was 8 years since my diagnosis and to be honest, I forgot about it until a few days later. It's pretty amazing getting to that point where it becomes such a distant thing that you can forget.

Anyway, welcome to the Feb thread and congrats on the grandbaby, my son is only 9 so it's going to be a while before I get to enjoy one of those!

(Also, YAY for another British Columbian!)

I ended up cancelling. Westjet was sooo good to me, they were able to give a credit. Thank goodness! I would have felt so bad if we lost everything. I had travel insurance, but they hadn't gotten back to me if it was covered yet. A disney trip is still in the horizon, either when he's immunized, or maybe Disneyworld.

I was feeling the same way until I read a few recent articles about it, like this one:
http://www.buzzfeed.com/claudiakoer...measles-urged-to-stay-away-from-di#.qcl30R0g0
I don't want to stop living life, but it's just gotten to be too much in California to feel safe. If I went I'd be anxious the whole time.

I'm glad you were able to get your son a booster!

DS is up to date on his vaxes, I had the titers test done when I was pregnant and DH had to be up to date on his vaxes when he was in the Navy so we should all be good.
That's good! I'm Navy too! On mata leave currently though!

Yes, even a dr from the department of health in California says to avoid Disneyland if not immunized! It seems like Disney is handling it really well though, even putting some cast members on paid leave while they undergo testing.

Yes to this post! The health of our little ones is the most important. Unfortunately I know all about pregnancy and contagious disease. When I gave birth to my son my daughter had chicken pox (she was vaccinated, but still got a mild form). We had to keep her away from the baby and at my parents. It sucked big time, but had to be done. I hope your situation works out! And sorry to hear about the cancer diagnosis, I hope all is well now.

Welcome to the thread, I've added your info to the first post!

We are also staying at the GCH with a super good rate through Orbitz and we're also doing the F! Dinner at BB!

Thanks for adding me -- sounds like we're all going to have a great time!

I just discovered this site, and I'm so glad I did because I think I've been annoying my friends with all of my Disneyland talk haha. Anyway, I'm only 9 days out from my annual birthday trip and I just booked my birthday lunch at BB, so I couldn't be more excited! I'm fighting the urge to start packing already. The suitcases might be brought out this weekend.

I know there are quite a few closures/referbs, but I want to make sure to get the most out of my trip so are there any can't miss rides/foods/activities that you guys always make a point to do?
