While in the phone with Disney today (discussing rescheduling our trip), I was told that the 50th celebration will end on Oct. 2nd, 2006.

I don't know if that is public knowledge yet, I know some DIS folks heard end of October, others end of the year, but that is the official date according to Disney.

I just checked the calendar, and that's a Monday. Not sure why they'd end it on a Monday...???

Al's column on MiceAge.com mentions that the 50th celebration will end around the same time that the park begins its Halloween celebration; ending after a weekend instead of in the middle of the week or, even worse, before a weekend makes sense to me.

:cool1: Oh.. excuse my excitment! I cant wait for the park to slow a little. :cheer2:

That won't be 18 months?!?! That will be LESS then 17!!!

We have discussed this on another board, how their 18 months is really only (not even a full) 17 months. But I believe what will happen is that they will slowly remove the 50th decorations, put up some Halloween decorations (first time in a great while). I have heard that the fireworks will remain, for the most part, for a while but may have any refrences to the 50th removed. I don't expect the parade to go anywhere any time soon. So all in all, unless they have something else planned (which has yet to be announce or leaked) most the "big" 50th things will still be around for a while.

Our first choice for rescheduling our trip will be for late Sept. - early Oct. so we can still get in on the 50th celebration. Do you think it will be especially crowded then because of the end? Or will everyone have been-there-done-that?

I want to make sure we see the parade, and perhaps the fireworks. When the park closes earlier and when it gets dark earlier in the evening, does the timing of the fireworks get earlier? Would love to see this, but it's so late in the evening for two little boys...

We could see the fireworks from my house when I was growing up. I remember seeing them around 8-ish in the fall. But maybe they've changed it.

That is the same answer I got today. The decorations will start coming down for the Halloween/Christmas decorations but everything else will stay in place.

I am planning a long trip from the 4th to the 10th of October, but may have to make a special quick trip in July for my BDay just to make sure I see everything one more time. Luckily only a 6 hour drive from Arizona!

Peace!

i was wondering this too... me and my hubby are planning a trip around october 29th to november 4th, and we were wondering when the 50th decorations would be taken down and the holiday ones put up...

:wizard:

The 50th decorations will be taken down at the beginning of October. But most of the entertainment will stay, at least for a few weeks until Christmas begins (usually by Vetern's Weekend).
