Official Dopey 2017 Thread

How is everyone doing? I know official training is still a bit out but a lot of us were doing something building up. I have been pretty inconsistent and really need to do better. We have a 1/2 this weekend but I'm doing it with a friend as a first and bucket list thing after an accident awhile back so I haven't been preparing as much as I probably should have!

I'm staying healthy, and thanks to that getting in great shape, so I couldn't be happier at this point!
 
Same deal - I'm not technically going to be training for Dopey. Have a hopefully PR half in November and a 50k in December so I'll trust my fitness for those to get me through.

Add me to the "not really training for Dopey" club. Once I get through IMFL, I'll take a few weeks off and then add in a few maintenance runs before Dopey.

Is this your first full Tri? Such an impressive thing to take on.

Yes. I've done several half-iron races and this will be my first 140.6. I'm really looking forward to it. Aside from the swim, which has been cancelled in recent years due to high surf, the rest of the course is pretty flat and not too technical. Plus, my buddy @Keels will be there as part of my support/cheer squad.

Awesome! It's something I wanted to do but as I've mentioned before the swimming is a huge hurdle for me. I've watched the finish line cam for a few IM's and it's always amazing to see the people crossing the line.
 
Good luck in Green Bay (right?)! Lambeau field! My marathon training for October starts Saturday after 2 weeks off. Then another two weeks off, so Dopey training starts October 16th. I should be rounding into shape just in time for Dopey. Excited!

Yes! I think I'm more excited for the kids to do their races around the field.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that stocked the calendar all year before dopey! I made a plan for training but it's around the other races including an October full so I'm hoping to just keep moving after that.
 
I am still building my base back from my injury, but I have no races before Dopey so one could say that everything between now and then is in preparation for the Dopey. My actual "training plan" for the Dopey will encompass the 18 weeks leading up to the race. The details will be determined by my mileage base at that point.

When do you do the DATW? I may look into that also :D
 
Lots of little ones around, but then in May I'm doing the "Conquer the Capital" races in Madison. That'll be my first back-to-back race, hopefully it will get me ready for Dopey! How about you?

I know that they will let you upgrades some races to challenges, and the Dopey is still available, so you might as well call and find out.
