Official DL July 2015 thread

I just had to share my excitement. Finally decided on the BWPPI and booked it. My 11 year old helped me decide. He liked the idea of the short walk vs. some of the other nearby motels. I can't wait for July to get here!

Congrats!!
Has anyone ever stayed at the Candy cane? I got an endorsement from a friend at work today.

Is anyone interested in doing a lit of dates and who's staying where in the op? I'll set it up if you want!

What did you enjoy about the 50th? I know very little about DLR and didn't pay a whole lot of attention when they celebrated their 50th. I'm sure the 60th will be on a smaller scale - but still really exciting!

What did they do on the 59th?

I wasn't there for the 59th, so I am not sure....

What I loved about the 50th was, well, everything! Everyone was in a great mood, walking in the parks was awesome after lining up in the middle of the night at DCA. We got there at 2am and were 12,000th in line! LOL. It was incredible!! We waited in line for merchandise and that took forever, but was still fun! We ended up staying until 1am! So almost 23 hours! Just being there was neat :goodvibes

Sounds amazing - I hope they do another 24 hour day :) I have the whole day before planned as a rest day and the next day we can sleep in and leave whenever the hotel kicks us out.

Yes, we've stayed there every time we go for years. Click on the link in my sig to see some pics. I can't say enough good things about it. Rooms are small and maybe the decor a tad dated, but that's it. The good far out weighs those small cons.

I like Big Day Lite because you can use your own picture for the background of the countdown. :)

Hmm I will have to check that out. I found one that is a small daily count down.

We have done the Minnie & Friends at the Plaza. We love the fact that it is in the park, so once done we are right there. Also, it is so character filled she just adores it. We eat a pretty good meal and usually have great photos of us all with the characters. I kind of make our family hit the first sitting because by the time we are done, the park has usually just opened.

Hi Everyone :wave2: We'll be at PPH July 16-19, we're going for the 60th! I was at the 40th and 45th and DD's first trip to DLR at 6 mos old was the 50th (we still have our golden Mickey ears!) I am a former DLH cast member and was an AP from the early 90's until I moved to TX in 2011. I just found out yesterday my DH won't be able to go with so it will be my first solo trip with 2 kids...but I'm really excited

Cool, sounds like a good group going in July. We have just decided to do Steakhouse 55 on the 5th for our Anniversary dinner, since I just heard that the former club 33 chef is running the steakhouse now.

That is very helpful, thanks!!

And thanks for the dining recs everyone. I'm not sure if we'll aim for in or out of the parks. I'm a newbie to DL sit-down restaurants, so it's good to know who and what are where.

If you decide there might be a place you want, I would recommend booking it ahead of time. If you decide as you get closer that you do not wish to eat there it is easy to cancel, but might be tougher to get the reservation later. :)

OK good to know. I assume it's the same as DW with the 180 mark booking??

No, you can't make reservations until 60 days out (thank goodness!). And many places don't need it. If you aren't sure, better to make it to be on the safe side, because there are a few that do. The places I go, I often wait until that week. Don't know what the F! packages will do to the mix. BB would be one I'd do early as possible anyway. And the character meals. But it certainly isn't the big stress that WDW is!

I thought I'd try the BB F! package so I need to check on when that opens up to reserve.

We'll have a group of 7, so I'll make them to be safe, but that's good to know. Thought I was running out of time!

Just realized that the BWPPI doesn't have an in-room safe, which is super important to me! So I booked the Park Vue Inn instead. It was $150 more than BWPPI since we had just booked the 2 doubles room there, but I feel like that's worth it for the safe. I know there are mixed reviews of this motel so I hope we enjoy our stay.

Hi everyone! I will be at Disneyland July 21-22 for my bachelorette party with a group of about 20 friends/family. Then I will back after the wedding for the week in August just before D23 convention. So excited!

My mom, daughter, and I will be at Disneyland July 7-14th for my daughter's dance nationals. So excited!!! :dance3: It's been a year since we have had annual passes...we are looking forward to having them again! :woohoo: we will be staying at the Candy Cane Inn. I highly recommend this motel for a comfortable, safe, clean room. w/amenities like the free breakfast, free parking, and free shuttle...it can't be beat!! party:
Can't wait to enjoy some Disney time again!! :tinker: :donald: :goofy: :smickey:::MinnieMo::MickeyMo

Definitely seriously considering the Candy Cane...haven't heard a bad thing (except that it's outdated, which I couldn't care less about)
I need to get my butt moving and start booking some stuff! I've been too distracted by real life...laaaaame!

And when I said "outdated" I only meant the decor- bed spreads, pictures on the wall. They do have flat screen tvs. Which we rarely have time to watch anyway. Oh, and they do have a small safe too which I like. We can keep car keys and Kindles in it.

I was hoping to go in early August for my bday, but DH wants a combo ski trip. So, we're going in 2015, but not until late 2015. Dec 27-31 for the Disneyland portion of the trip...not looking forward to the crowds, but excited to see everything in holiday mode. :thumbsup2

We'll be there 15-19 July for the actual Anniversary. I secured our VGC 1BR at our 11-month window back in August. No way I'm missing out on this one!
