Official Disneyland ½ Marathon & 5k

I would also agree that you don't need to worry about the sweepers. Depending on your situation the bigger problem could be starting out too far forward.

Last year I was bib number 6237 and ended up in corral D. With the warm weather that was probably a corral too far forward. I went out too fast in mile 1 and ended up walking quite a bit more than I wanted to those last three miserable miles. At the 15K point I was on pace for a 3:00 finish and ended up finishing in 3:11. Most of my training runs are in the 14 min./mile range and my PR half marathon from last spring is 2:51.

If the weather is expected to be warm I would adjust my projections and talk to the Cliff Pace Team to find out what corral your anticipated finish is starting in and move back to with them for the start. It's more fun to be passing people than it is to be passed the entire race.

I'm clueless about the weather at Disneyland at the time of the race. What are temperatures normally, what's considered hot? Humidity? I'm from Jacksonville Fl.

It's usually not that bad. 07 there was a horrible heat wave that wasn't fun, but they were prepared and had lots of extra water towards the end of the race. The next 2 years it was absolutely perfect w/ coastal fog through most of the run. The last 2, no fog, but it hasn't been too bad, not sure temp for sure, maybe low to mid 70's. Not really a lot of humidity for the races. A few years back it was for the 5k the day before, but no probs w/ the 1/2. If you can train out in FL, you should be fine out here.:goodvibes But there is always a chance for a heat wave, but we'll know better closer to the race, and like I said earlier, when it did happen, they were really prepared and there were a lot of signs prerace and enough water on the course.

Thanks to everyone who replied about my dilema on where to stay. Still undecided at this point, LOL.

I was just looking at the map again, did you notice we barely go backstage this year? Only at the beginning by Indy and Splash. Don't get me wrong, super stoked to go through/end in Cars Land, but I love the backstage area too! And no train stop either! That's 1 of my fav parts! Hopefully we'll go by there for the 1/2 again.

Yep, for the Tink we were there toward the end which was nice. My favorite part of the race was at mile 12 when a green army man just appeared out of the foliage and started running encouraging his other soldiers to follow him. It was awesome.

Hi Dagny! Good to 'see' you! We are staying at the Hotel Menage, and I am anticipating a walk back but hopefully it won't be too bad.

My bib# for the 1/2 is #6644 - Now I want to know what corral that puts me in. I used my Wine&Dine time of 2hrs 28mns when I registered. Hoping to meet or beat that for the Disneyland 1/2.

I've been running a 5.5 mile route every day now and I really enjoy it. That evil blue foam roller and I have become best friends - and using it BEFORE as well as AFTER my runs has been a life saver!

Hugs to everyone! It's coming up fast!!!

Hey Carey! Great to "see" you as well. Hope to really see you in DL, LOL.

I'm #9528. How many corrals are there? If there are 15,000 runners, I won't be at the VERY back. :thumbsup2

I am bib 7261 and my daughter is bib 7002. I am probably too far up and my dd is probably not far up enough! She typically finishes 45 minutes ahead of me so I am not sure how much Disney really paid attention to the times!

I always love going to Disneyland, I call it my mothership. I was laid off from my job this past Tuesday. All I could think about this morning is that I just want to go somewhere and not have to think about anything. Too bad I have to wait over another month before that can happen but at least I have something to look forward to! :thumbsup2

I am really sorry to hear this. I hope you find something better and wish you all the best in finding something quickly!!!!

Please don't worry about the sweepers if you are doing even a 12 min mile!!! You are doing great. My husband and I will be bringing up the rear with 15.5 min miles!! We are walkers, and we are just out to enjoy the event. We have done several Disney races, even the notoriously hot 2007 Disneyland race, and we always have a lot of fun, even though we are always among the last 1,000 to finish.

As a PREVIOUS sweeper panic person, I can tell you that you have NOTHING to worry about. You will be fine!

I'm prepare for humidity after this summer so that is good. We've had record heat & humidity here in MI. Let's just say a few of my very early morning runs started at just before 7am when it was already 82 degrees & 70% humidity. Gotta love the lakes ;)

Im coming to this race to have fun & not time, which is why I worry about the sweepers because I'm sure I won't be using that 12 min mile much in the parks. I guess I may have to if I get to worried.

It's like they know when I need a little pick me up. I'm 7169! I just want to finish and not be in pain at this point. My hip's been pestering me with my runs so I've been having dreams of paying all this money and flying thousands of miles to CA only to get swept. It's terrible!

3121 and 3123 for the half...

Oddly enough, the placements seem to be by when we registered, as the submitted time for bib 3123 was about 30 seconds faster than 3121, but I registered 3121 before 3123. I guess they just made some time "windows" and then gave people numbers by when they registered?

For the Princess, I was able to email the trackshack address (same one you would send a proof-of-time to) and find out what corral my bib # was assigned too, and I know other people were able to get a list of all the bib#s by corral. I just send an email to see what I could find out, and I'll post here if I get any information!

E corral - Wow and I thought I'd be in the last corral.

So, how much time does that buy me? We run in the 13-14 minute pace and I need as much buffer time as possible.

Well the Half starts at 5:45am and I think they wait 5 minutes between corrals.

I got bib #655. Going for a Disneyland PR (1:43). No way I can do a HM PR with all the people, but I had to give myself a goal this year. Did 14.5 miles this weekend and only have two more long runs left.

Argh, well my #6644 puts me in D, and I was kinda hoping for C, but its probably a blessing in disguise because after getting married in February I slacked a little on my running and my pace has slowed.

So even though I ran 10.5 miles yesterday and have been able to run between 4-8 miles daily and consistently for the past week or so (when I decided I needed to get serious again with my running) my pace is about 12 MPM - a fair cry from the Wine&Dine when I averaged 10:30 MPM.

I think after my Coast2Coast I am going to take a break from distance running and focus more on cardio/weight combos that will help with toning and tightening. Because the whole reason I started running wasn't so that I could run long miles at a time, but so that I could have something consistent to keep me in shape. Plus these Disney races are expensive. Worth it, but spendy. :)

Well that puts me in corral e so I'll have a 10 min buffer. Wish I remembered what time I gave them (if I gave one at all).

Is it possible to make a 12:05 p.m. flight out of LAX on Sunday following the 1/2? Or, maybe I should ask what's the earliest you think is reasonable from either LAX or SNA?

I might have access to a registration and trying to see if I can make a last minute trip work. Having a hard time finding a return flight later in the day. Thanks for any input! I'm not familiar with the LA airports.

Bib #607

I've decided I am not going for a PR this time and going to stop along the route to get pictures with characters. I am training for Portland and this is supposed to be my 20 miler day so I am going to do 7 before the race and then take an easier pace through the course, especially inside the parks.

Now to decide if I want to wear Mickey Ears or not? I imagine it would be uncomfortable for 13 miles.

It'd be rather tight for a 12:05 from LAX- There you'd need atleast an hour (1.5 is safer) to get through the airport and its generally a 1-1.5 hr trip so you would need to be on the road no later than 9:15/9:30 to be safe..

If you could do SNA you'd be much safer with a noon-ish flight since its a lot closer and much smaller airport where you could leave DLR area 10/1030 and be okay..

The traffic could go either way as well. It is a Sunday, but you never know down there. Plus if you're shuttling it, they have set hours of when they pick you up and the traffic around the park is going to be a mess and from experience w/ the Tink 1/2 ~ the shuttles are clueless about a race going on and traffic. My dad flew in to meet me the morning of the Tink 1/2 and the shuttle guy had no idea and made my dad walk a couple of blocks b/c they didn't know how to get around it.

Well the Half starts at 5:45am and I think they wait 5 minutes between corrals.

Unless they change it from last year, Disneyland did not put 5 minutes between corrals. I was about a 1/3 of the way back and I started about 17 minutes after the start of the race.

Well that puts me in corral e so I'll have a 10 min buffer. Wish I remembered what time I gave them (if I gave one at all).

If you think you can finish in under 2:45 which given your long run paces is very possible, you could run a 10K between now and race day and bring the results to packet pickup and get moved into a quicker corral. That being said, If you're planning on doing this as a fun run and not racing all out, I think you'll be fine in corral E.

Is anyone doing a list of the racers & their numbers?
I'm 2,410.

Is there a meet up planned?

It's been awhile since I've logged in, so sorry if it's somewhere back in this thread!
