I have been stalking this thread for a couple of months now and have decided I am deff doing a cake this year!:cool1:

My trip in december will be my sisters first trip and her birthday trip. Shes only 10 and I want to make it special.

Does anyone know if you can have a cake delivered to the Coronado springs resort since it is the only moderate with Deluxe amenities? Or would I have to get a screen print cake from a resturant. I really want my own.

P.s.- Im sorry if this question was answered.. but I really couldnt find it. :confused3

What a sweet idea for your sister! :goodvibes You can get a fancy cake delivered to many resorts and restaurants. This post lays out all your options by location: http://disneytravelbabble.com/how-to/order-cake/by-location/

I emailed Chef Brian on Monday....how long does it take for a response usually? I just want to be sure my email went thru. Thanks!

I ordered a cake from the Contemporary bakery for Crystal Palace for my DD's 10th Birthday. When ordering, I asked for a Disney Nerds themed cake with fondant or gum paste characters on top. I was told they couldn't do that. So we went with an 8" cake with a 2D decoration on top. I ordered a marble cake with chocolate mousse and vanilla buttercream icing. They told me they would really make it nice.

When we got to the restaurant and checked in, the restaurant manager came out to see me. She took me aside and told me that they didn't have my cake! It wasn't on their order sheet of all of the cakes that had come over for the night, and they didn't see it in their refrigerator. My heart sank. While this cake was a surprise for my daughter, it was her birthday dinner, and I wanted to make 10 special.

Lesson Learned: Make sure to check on your cake in the days before. We had so many things going on in the two days before, and I didn't even think about calling to make sure everything was in place.

She told me that she would do some more checking in their kitchen, but at the very least, they had podium cakes available, and while they couldn't decorate it according to what I had ordered, they could write happy birthday on it, and she would not charge me for it. She told me that if she came by the table once we were seated, it meant that she couldn't find the cake, and she would prepare the podium cake for us.

We got into the restaurant, and got seated. When the waiter was serving our drinks, she came over and gave our waiter a note. Again my heart sank... confirmation... they didn't have our cake. :sad1:

We went about enjoying our dinner. It would be fine. DD would still have a cake and we were still celebrating. She wouldn't know that wasn't the plan. But when I went up to get some more food, the manager stopped me and told me that she had found our cake! :yay: It had been put in a place in the refrigerator that cakes normally don't get put, and had no paperwork with it. But it was there! She brought me back to the server's station so I could see it. It wasn't what I was expecting. When they said they would really make it nice, I was hoping that they would do more with the theme.

Lesson Learned: If you really want your cake to be what you want it, be explicit with your instructions. Don't leave it up to the bakery unless you don't mind.

Once the plates were cleared, our waiter, Michael, brought it out. DD's eyes lit up! She was completely surprised.

Then he got on one knee and serenaded her. She was eating it up.

She was so happy and surprised. She loved her cake. What I was hoping for with the cake didn't matter. What she got was exactly what she wanted. It all worked out.

The cake was yummy... moist and delicious. :goodvibes The cost: $65 for the cake, plus tax and tip (since there were six of us, it was automatically added to the cake bill)... total $83.

I thought you guys would get a kick out of this cake created by Disneyland's bakery for a wedding....

Figured out the FIRST cake of our visit, now working on the SECOND one! I apologize if it has been asked before, I just can't find it in all the pages or on the tutorial. I know that you can get the mini wedding cakes from BW, GF, and Contemporary, but can you get them from YC/BC? I want to know if we can order one to be delivered to Le Cellier and it looks like that is the bakery that services Epcot.

Thanks so much!

Thank you so much! I didnt know this site existed.

I am now a little sad though. I cant get a fancy cake delivered to my room. :sad1: I wanted this one to be special..

Hmmm... are you planning to dine at any of the resorts whose bakeries do fancy cakes? Like Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary? Or even in the Magic Kingdom? The Contemporary could do a cake for you at one of the restaurants there.

I have never seen them do a mini cake, but it's definitely worth calling and asking. They seem to be getting more flexible with what they can do.

We are eating at crystal palace for dinner on the day that we are doing the mvmcp.. lol. after every dinner we aren't going back to the room. Its ok! the coronado cake they provide will still be amazing!:thumbsup2

Thank you for your help!

I wasn't disappointed with the look of the cake, just not wowed by it. Also I provided an amount that would be my limit and that's what I was charged. There are been more and less elaborate cakes made on this forum for the same price. Just an observation...

Just wanted to comment on your observation as I definitely experienced (and have noticed) the same. I was not disappointed with my order, but not wowed (just as you said.) I do wish the decor of the cakes were comparable for the price/budget. I just feel that some of them have a lot more time and thought put in to them than others.

But, at least they taste amazing! ;)

I'm so glad they found your cake! That was a relief!

Yep, I learned the exact same lesson when it comes to ordering custom cakes. Be specific to the 'T'. Leave nothing to the discretion of the bakers if there's a specific look you want. If you are loose in your description you run the chance of getting what both you and I got. The texture on the sides looks like a podium cake that they slapped some nicer decorations on top. I loathe the plastic adornments I've seen them use on their more generic-looking cakes. They look very Walmart to me. Not that I'm knocking Walmart bakeries because they produce some pretty yummy cakes. It's just when you order from a special bakery and pay a premium you expect a lot better design and appearance than what the novices at the local Walmart mass-produce daily. Ya know? Still, I totally love your Nerds theme! That's just cool! And like my son with his lack-luster Steamboat Willie Contemporary bakery cake, I'm so glad your daughter loved it in the end. That's what's most important. :thumbsup2

I need to get some pics posted of our anniversary cake we had at the Yachtsman recently. That cake totally redeemed Disney's custom cakes for me. :cutie:

Question - has anyone ever ordered one of the cakes from Coronado Springs? I saw the options listed and I think they are very generic. Can they do any customizing do you know? And will they deliever these cake offerings to a room?

Thank you!!

I wanted to share the cake I had made to celebrate my birthday. We did a private Illuminations dessert party at UK Pubside in October. (thanks again to lurkyloo for all her great info on that!:)) I had a photo of the exact look I wanted and emailed that to my planner with the colors I wanted. The cake was precisely what I wanted; the pastry chef at the Yacht and Beach Club did a fabulous job! The cake was 10", chocolate mousse filling, fondant and cost $200. It was extremely dark, so sorry the pictures are a bit blurred, but it was a beautiful cake!

The mini-wedding cakes are available at the Boardwalk Bakery, correct? Is that what I refer to them as when I call to order one? Can these be "themed" at all (i.e. Christmas-y), not with characters or anything specific? I'm not too particular about the cake, it's more of just a memento of our anniversary. We're going to the Boardwalk Bakery for breakfast the morning of our anniversary, so what better time for cake! :rotfl: Darn dining plan and its free desserts makes it hard to squeeze in cake!!

Yep - "mini-wedding cake" should tell them what you want. If you call the number in my cake FAQ for BoardWalk Bakery, I believe it goes straight to a pastry chef, who is the person you'd want to talk to about your theming ideas. Sometimes the people at the counter have a more narrow idea of what's possible...

Ok, the second week of december I am taking my sister and my niece who is 9 for a girls only trip. We have reservations for CRT for breakfast one day, but at 10:15, and then BBB on another day at 11 am followed by dinner at 1900 park fare that night at 6.

After reading all 223 pages of this thread (gasp!) here are my thoughts:

for the CRT breakfast, getting one of the mini cakes with the castle topper... how much does that run for the basic flavors etc

for the park fare dinner, getting the glass slipper for my niece ($15?), then can they do a painted tinkerbell on a plate with something written on the plate? (for my sister) and a painted pluto? (for me!!) and what is the cost of the painted figures?

if so, how long do the painted figurines last typically? we wouldn't eat it!!

Thanks!!
