I've called the Contemporary twice in the last week and a half with no return call. We're just about 2 months out from our visit but I'd like to get this cake order checked off my to-do list. Is it normal for them to take weeks to call back? That wouldn't fly at my bakery - what should I do?

Usually it's recommended to call 2 weeks ahead of your trip, as opposed to 2 months.

So do you call the Contemporary to talk to Chef Brian about a custom cake? We'll be there Oct. 2-7 & I'd like to order one for my kids.

Yes you call the Contemporary Resort — 407-824-2955, ask to speak with Chef Brian about a custom cake. He will talk with you, ask for his email as well and you will communicate what you want. He will give you instructions from there.

Is the two tiered mini wedding cake available anywhere besides the GF?

BW definitely does them and I think the Contemporary does too. I just ordered two from BW for our upcoming trip and I am so excited. Chef Darryn was so nice too.:goodvibes

That's odd, when I called early this summer they told me I could book 90 days out. I'll be making about 2,000 pies two weeks before our trip, so I'd really like to get this taken care of before then. :goodvibes

I'll try calling the Contemporary and asking for Chef Brian so I can get this taken care of as my holiday season for my shop starts in a week!

Can I have the cake delievered to the room at CBR when we are not there?? I would love to come back from the park and have the cake sitting there as part of the surprise.

Thank you for any input!

CBR doesn't have room service, so usually you have to go pick up the cake at the food court However the woman I talked to there seemed to think it wouldn't be too difficult for them to deliver to the room. Which is all to say, you need to call the number in the WDW Cake Options By Location post and see what they tell you: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=40915598#post2413710

Hi:
Can someone tell me how to reach CakemanBri? I have two special cakes I would like to order. A birthday cake for my grandson and a 50th anniversary cake.

Thanks!;)

Call Private Dining at the Contemporary: 407-824-2955

So much info and so many amazing cakes! I've ordered cakes before but its been a few years.

My dd and I will be at Disney Oct 4-10 to celebrate her 12th bday. :goodvibes We have a ressie at Cali Grill on her actual birthday, she chose it (we went a few years back, she loved it, my little foodie). I was going to order a birthday cake for here there but I know looking at the menu with her she really likes the desserts they have to offer. Obviously if I get her cake there we wouldn't also order dessert.

So my other thought was to get the cake the night before when we are having dinner at Boma. Looking at the list it looks like you can do a 6 inch cake in some nice flavors for $32. What can you get on it? Are they all the screen printed images?

Just trying to understand what I can do before I make the call.

Thanks!

Allyson

Unfortunately, only the people who actually work at the bakery can tell you what your options are. AKL does not have the facility to do really fancy cakes, so I'm thinking a screen print may be their best offer. I just don't know if they can do them on 6-inch cakes.

So who do you call to get a six inch cake to CRT.

Do you want a really fancy custom one or just a regular chocolate or vanilla one?

Hi! Never ordered one, but just saw one in the dessert case of the Boardwalk Bakery last week. The place was crazy & we weren't really that hungry, so I didn't wait to ask about the cost or flavor.

We ate dinner @ California Grill Sept 13th. Overheard the waitress talking to the young couple leaving from the next table over. Congratulating them on their engagement & saying how much all the servers loved their cake. That it was the best cake she'd seen. Cake was not at the table, so I didn't get to see it. I was wondering if it was a Disser. Anyone here get engaged @ Cali Grill 9/13? If so, Congrats! & how about a picture?! :goodvibes

I've read the cake chatter thread & I really want to get my kids a cake for our trip Oct 2nd-7th, the problem? I'm on a tight budget & can't really afford to buy a speciality cake like those on the cake chatter thread. So, does anyone have pictures of cakes from theBoardwalk Bakery or any podium cakes purchased at Crystal Palace or Chef Mickey's? Suggestions would be appreciated!

ordered a Mickey Head cake from Ohana for tuesday night. all chocolate. hope it tastes good!! we don't like the bread pudding there.

I need info. for ordering something special at Saana...

We are eating our last dinner at WDW at Saana in March 2012. I would like to give each of my kids (DS and DD) a special treat delivered to them. A small cake would work, but it could also be something else..like a chocolate elephant, etc....will they do that? I was originally thinking of something along the lines of the treasure chese cakes (I think they don't do these anymore?) since they will be thrilled with anything...no need to spend a fortune. They would be just as thrilled with chocolate elephants or something like that....
Who do I talk with to get that done?

We are staying at Kidani, AKV, if that makes a difference.

I realize it's early, but I can make note and call when it gets closer.

i just ordered a cake for sept 30. we are staying at the beach club. i am doing a Halloween haunted mansion theme cake for my daughters 9th birthday. I am not sure how this is going to turn out but I can't wait to see it. Yvette said Haunted Mansion is her favorite so I am hoping for something great. I told her I wanted everything edible on it, no 2d. Vanilla cake with strawberry and custard filling with fondant.

Yvette is the person I spoke to and ordered my son's cake for Beach/Yacht Club. We were absolutely thrilled with the cake it was fantastic, it was waiting for us in our room when we got back after dinner with plates and napkins an cutlery. I'm sure you will have a wonderful cake. I have pictures of the cake that I ordered for my son from Beach/Yacht Club bakery in my trip report below.

With the issues I had trying to order my cake for Sanaa, if I had waited until two weeks out, it would have never happened... I mean, Disney recommends that you have to make all your general dining reservations 180 days out, but if you want a custom $100+ cake made, they can whip that out within a week or two... Makes no sence to me!

I have two cake questions:

1. We're staying at the VWL and I was planning on having Brian do the cake. However, we're having dinner that night at Akershus. Will Private Dining deliver a cake to our room if we're not there to receive it? I wouldn't mind it being delivered earlier in the day and then come "home" for dessert. Or should I just give up the idea of a Chef Brian cake and see if one of the Epcot bakeries can/will do what we want (which is a replica of Goofygirl's Lion King cake that was posted earlier in the thread)?

2. Is a call to Private Dining absolutely necessary? I don't remember how I got it, but I do have Chef Brian's email written down in my planning spreadsheet. Can I just email him without calling first?

BoardWalk Bakery doesn't keep whole cakes on hand for sale (except maybe a few podium cakes). But they do have nice slices of cake, which might be even better b/c then you can get each kid his/her own flavor.

Podium cakes pretty much all look the same. They just change the color of the sprinkles. Here are samples from the last few years:

Call Private Dining at AKL (407-938-4720) to see what they have. The selection changes all the time, so best to wait till a few weeks out. In the past it's been things like chocolate truffles, chocolate-covered strawberries, Zebra Domes, and cookie plates.

Yes, but you're not gonna want it sitting out all day cuz it'll get droopy (or spoiled, depending on what's in it). Better to have them deliver it right before you get back or just call down for it when you get there.

Or should I just give up the idea of a Chef Brian cake and see if one of the Epcot bakeries can/will do what we want (which is a replica of Goofygirl's Lion King cake that was posted earlier in the thread)?

This is the last thing you want to do. Epcot's bakery is extremely limited in what it can produce, and the two cakes of theirs I've had were quite inexpertly decorated. They don't do fondant or fancy decorations at all—it's just whipped cream, sprinkles, and smeary screen prints.

2. Is a call to Private Dining absolutely necessary? I don't remember how I got it, but I do have Chef Brian's email written down in my planning spreadsheet. Can I just email him without calling first?

Yes, but he will ask you to call the order in to PD after the two of you work it out.

I see since the last time we've ordered a cake that the Contemp will have cakes delivered to the MK restaurants - is there a crazy delivery fee for this? Just wondering if I can get a cake for about the same price at the Crystal Palace breakfast or if I'm better offer waiting and getting it at our Cali Grill ressie in the evening.

The last time we stopped in the Boardwalk Bakery, they had probably 3 cakes in the bottom section of the display case and they weren't the podium cakes. Now, saying that, that was lasy May. I did ask if they were for someone or if they were for sale and they said they were for sale. I was going to get one, but we were only there for a long weekend and it wouldn't have been feasible.

Just got back from a wonderful 9 days in Disney and cannot recommend Chef Brian and the Contemporary Bakery enough! The cake I surprised my husband with for our anniversary was everything I asked for in terms of design, AND it tasted simply amazing.

I will post pictures later this week, but just wanted to thank you all for your help!:thumbsup2

I think I know the answer to this but wanted to confirm and make sure.

I want to order a white chocolate surprise (probably the monorail and Mickey statue) at BLT Resort for my friend who invited me along for an adult only trip.

They will be putting their credit card on the room for charges on our vacation.

I want to pay for this, if possible. Is there any way for me to pay for it and it NOT go on the room charges?

Thanks! :goodvibes
