Just to save me reading through every page to find an answer,if I want to order a cake for my DW birthday for our table at Cal Grill how do I do it ? I live in UK so a bit difficult to ring, can I e mail anyone ?

Call this number (407) 827-2253
They will give you the email contact for Chef Brian..
Although I e-mailed last tuesday ,and have yet to hear anything back...I was told he returns email within a day or two, so I am wondering if mine has slipped through the cracks....

So, I'm helping a friend design a cake for her daughter's sweet 16 dinner at 'Ohana...i.e. it will be the GF bakery doing her cake (once we get to that point). She's looking for a Sorcerer Mickey theme. I know Sorcerer Mickey is not a white chocolate figure option, but that's OK b/c she's planning on buying some kind of keepsake figure for that portion of the topper- i.e. give it to the concierge or somebody at WDW in advance so they can add it to the cake during production/decoration. OK, so I'm fine tuning her design and I think this area in DHS is going to be our inspiration.

I've seen some fondant/gumpaste/modeling chocolate figure sculpting work for WDW cakes, but not a ton. Has anyone seen them do anything like the broom and bucket out of fondant/gumpaste? If not- do you think this is something they can do? Rather than flowers, we want the bucket pouring out fondant gold and silver moons and stars to flow into a wave of them going around the cake with a few hidden Mickey stamps in there. Behind the Mickey figure she supplies will likely be stick mounted moons and stars along with a 16 (or a series of them). I know the moons and stars and the backdrop/16 won't be a problem, but the broom worries me.

Any thoughts on the broom? If worse comes to worse, fancy cakes are my hobby and I can make her the broom part out of gumpaste... but I'd prefer to not have to.

Just trying to make my cake plans for a Grand Gathering celebrating my parents' 50th anniversary ...

I'm planning on ordering a golden "Mickey Delight" cake for a family meal at Chef Mickey's. However, I would also like to surprise my parents with a mini-wedding cake delivered to their room on the first night. We're staying at the Beach Club, and I know to go through Private Dining. My question is ... how does it work with payment? Can I charge it to my own room/credit card ahead of time? I don't want them stuck with the bill. I know at restaurants the cake is added to the bill (also don't want to do that at Chef's), how does paying for Private Dining work?

Any other ideas for 50th celebrations? :)

I ordered the Coral and Shells mini cake from Pat at the GF yesterday for our upcoming trip. She tells me they cannot do fondant on the mini cakes. It will be buttercream with chocolate cake and dark chocolate mousse filling. I'll post a pic after our trip. It's for the 2 of us, so I hope it will be just big enough for a dessert for us.

 I just got a Coral & Shells mini cake covered in fondant from the GF back in March... I wonder if they just don't want to do them that way anymore? :confused3 At any rate, I bet it'll look great, and I can tell you it will be a big enough dessert for two. :thumbsup2

Nothing seems to be too complex for the Grand Floridian Bakery—you should see some of the elaborate decor on their wedding cakes. You just have to be prepared to pay top dollar (and be sure to let them know it when you order or they'll try to steer you toward a standard cake).

Normally they charge the cost of the cake to the room it's delivered to. When you call to place the order, you could see if they will charge it to your card instead, but I worry that they'll just use your number as a guarantee and still put the actual charge on the room.

Could you give your parents a Disney gift card that covers the cost of the cake before they check out? They could use it as partial payment when they check out.

If these are repeat questions, I'm so sorry, but I just couldn't get through 200+ pages :goodvibes

1. Will CRT guarantee a dark chocolate version of the slipper? DH hates white chocolate so I only want to do this if it will be guaranteed

2. Will it come out before, during or after the regular dessert is served? I don't want to spoil the surprise, but I also don't want him to order the mousse dessert with his meal since he will have one coming ;)

3. How are the berries in January? Honestly DH will be most excited by some yummy fruit more than the slipper :lmao:

4. Not a determining factor, but curious.... will our TIW discount be applied to the slipper? :confused3

5. How far in advance would you order? We aren't going until January, and our CRT ADR is 5 days into the trip... can I call when I get there or should I do it before we leave?

:goodvibes

Does anyone know if GF would do a screen print on a standard 6 in. cake? Is that cheaper than getting the mini wedding cake (we think those are around 35$?)? TIA

Nevermind - Figured it out.

Can I get one of the chocolate slippers served at Garden View Tea Room in the Grand Floridian? If so, who do I go through for that, and how much are they? $12 each?

TIA

Just ordered a cake for DD's 10th birthday at the Crystal Palace on Oct. 1st. It will be an 8" marble cake with chocolate mousse covered in vanilla buttercream, with a Disney Nerds theme (DD is going to be soooo excited!). :thumbsup2 Will post pics when we're back. Thanks so much for all of the info on this thread! :worship:

Can I have the cake delievered to the room at CBR when we are not there?? I would love to come back from the park and have the cake sitting there as part of the surprise.

Thank you for any input!

I had a fantastic cake from the Beach Club private dining! It was more than what Brian charges, but it was beautiful and very tasty!!

Hi:
Can someone tell me how to reach CakemanBri? I have two special cakes I would like to order. A birthday cake for my grandson and a 50th anniversary cake.

Thanks!;)

Just had my dd cake delivered for her birthday this morning. It was pretty and they even gave us complimentary coffee and milk, but they didn't do the filling I requested and they added the wrong name! :( I am not a morning person, therefore I did not realize until after they left. :(

We ordered a cake based on the Disney-Pixar film Up for our 10th Wedding Anniversary. It was delivered to our intimate dining in the Grand Floridian, and the cake was nothing short of spectacular...

Price: $250
Date Received: Sept 8 2011
Location: Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, intimate dining
Cake Info: marble cake with white chocolate icing & raspberry filling. Covered in white chocolate ganache
Other Info: We asked for the 2 chairs from Up modeled with with the house screen printed in white chocolate in the back. The banner read "Love is the Greatest Adventure - Wendy & Bret"

I can't say enough about the cake. It was amazing in every way. The detail was breathtaking - the chairs were hand sculpted & painted perfectly. The cake itself was heavenly...so delicious. And the bell desk at AKL (where we were staying, not where the cake was delivered) allowed us to keep it in the refrigerator there so that we could bring it home and finish it. Amazing - I would SO do the custom cake again.

That is a seriously gorgeous cake!

I was so excited and so pleased with my DD's birthday cake I just had to share it =) Your also welcome to add it to the character cake index if you like. This was made by Chef Brian at The Contemporary and delivered to CRT as a surprise to DD. It is white cake covered by vanilla buttercream (I requested no fondant) and a passion fruit filling. It was amazing in person and the waiter was showing it off as he carried it, we got so much attention at our table for this cake. I was quoted $60 and I truly believe it was above and beyond worth this price and it was delicious as well! Many kudos to Chef Brian!

That is awesome!

So much info and so many amazing cakes! I've ordered cakes before but its been a few years.

My dd and I will be at Disney Oct 4-10 to celebrate her 12th bday. :goodvibes We have a ressie at Cali Grill on her actual birthday, she chose it (we went a few years back, she loved it, my little foodie). I was going to order a birthday cake for here there but I know looking at the menu with her she really likes the desserts they have to offer. Obviously if I get her cake there we wouldn't also order dessert.

So my other thought was to get the cake the night before when we are having dinner at Boma. Looking at the list it looks like you can do a 6 inch cake in some nice flavors for $32. What can you get on it? Are they all the screen printed images?

Just trying to understand what I can do before I make the call.

Thanks!

Allyson

Hi there
I had a message from the cake line folks urging me to email Chef Brain with my request. But I can't seem to get the email address correct. Can someone PM me with the correct address???
Thank you so much!

i just ordered a cake for sept 30. we are staying at the beach club. i am doing a Halloween haunted mansion theme cake for my daughters 9th birthday. I am not sure how this is going to turn out but I can't wait to see it. Yvette said Haunted Mansion is her favorite so I am hoping for something great. I told her I wanted everything edible on it, no 2d. Vanilla cake with strawberry and custard filling with fondant.

We aren't supposed to be sharing the email addresses for the Chefs. If you are having trouble, I suggest you calling the Contemporary back and having them give it to you again.:goodvibes
