Thanks! So now I just need to decide is it worth 65.00 for a 8 inch cake with a screen print on it. <sigh> too many decisions!!

This is GORGEOUS! I need details! What flavor was it? How did it taste? What did it cost? Which bakery did it come from? My soon to be 6 year old DD would LOVE this.

I agree - I LOVE this cake! I wouldn't be to happy however, with the bleeding of the black, and the miss-formed balls around the bottom, but mostly the bleeding. Other than that though, its amazing!

Has anyone ever seen and/or ordered a cake with Steamboat Willie? I have an idea of a cake done up in black and white, but I really want to give a picture to Chef Brian with my idea.... and I am a horrible (read: even stick figures evade me) artist. :confused3

I scoured Google and such, and have found nothing. Anyone seen anything out there?:goodvibes

Wow, thats a great idea. Good luck - I'm not a good artist either!

Whatever you do, do NOT leave the design to the cake artist. I ordered a Steamboat Willie cake from the Contemporary's bakery and left the details to the professionals. What I got was a mish-mash of random elements with no cohesive design. Steamboat Willie happened to be one of the elements.

I wasn't specific when I ordered because I assumed that as with all artists, if you leave an artist to their own craft they'll produce their best work. Not so. LOL! Maybe you could look at pictures and pick out elements you like that would work with a Steamboat Willie theme. When ordering be specific about what you want. I won't ever leave the design to the baker again, I'll tell ya that. :cool2:

I AGREE!! I had the same experience at the CR! I asked for a Wishes themed cake and gave quite the budget! The only request is I wanted it to say happy bday to my sis and dad.... here is what I got... Was NOTHING like the other Wishes cakes I saw. Was SO disappointed. Looked like a child did it.

This FAQ will tell you which sizes you can't get at which locations (if it doesn't specify, then 6-inch fancy cakes are available): http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=40915598#post2413710

Most white chocolate characters are about 5 or 6 inches tall.

I just noticed the bleeding...maybe it was really hot wherever it was? I just thought the design was awesome.

Exactly. The texture around the sides of the cakes looks cheap and reminds me of podium cakes. If I wanted a podium cake I would've just gotten one of those. I don't feel like I can be too grumbly about it because in the end I wasn't specific. However, if someone told me "I want Steamboat Willie...I'll leave the details to your expertise...make it amazing...I trust you" I believe I would put forth my best efforts. From what I've seen, we didn't get a 'best effort' or anything creative either. Ya know?

I chalk it up to lessons-learned. I'm ordering a cake for our anniversary dinner at the Yachtsman and I promise you I'll be extremely extreeeeemely detailed in my wishes. Design will drive cost...not vice versa. :thumbsup2

I just looked at your pic again. Do you get the feeling you got someone else's unclaimed cake with a couple white chocolate banners to meet your requirements??? It looks like that, huh?

I will very shortly be ordering 2 slipper desserts for DGDS (Twins) 16th Birthday !!We will be at CRP for supper , who do I call and how much are they ??Thanks again for all the pix and advice !!

If you are talking about the White Chocolate Slipper with whipped cream /not the slipper cake - I just ordered one today for CRT. The cost is $12.50 and will be added to your bill.

Hi all y'all. This thread is so long, I know that this question has been asked before so please bear with me. I called the Contemp cake line yesterday and left a message. I leave for our trip 8/6 and want the cake 8/7 so I think I am in the window. I have not received a call back yet. Patience is not one of my virtures...how long should I wait until I call again? The phone message said they call between 11 and 3...is this anyones experience? Thank you!

So here are the pictures of the Haunted Mansion themed cake I had done for our 11th Wedding Anniversary. Our server said he had been working at the GF for 13 years and this was the most beautiful cake he had ever seen, CM's and guests were stopping him to ohh and ahh over it.

Well, I called Chef Trish at AKL about a cake. That was almost 3 weeks ago, and I have yet to get a call back.
I also email Chef Brian at the Contemporary almost a week ago, and haven't gotten a responce yet....

I ordered my cake today for our Welcome to Disney. Brian emailed me and we are going to so an 8" chocolate cake with fruit filling, with the hand painted chocolate Mickey and Welcome to Disney. I am having it delivered to our room our first night there. I figure we can eat cake and watch the fireworks! I am nervous to see how it turns out and I said just a buttercream frosting but I am now thinking I don't really know if there is a traditional flavor (I was thinking vanilla/white), should I call and be ask or just wait to be surprised? Is there a chocolate buttercream? As long as it has no fondant I am good. Now I just hope everyone is surprised and loves it when it shows up in the room.:banana::banana:

I'm so sorry y'all aren't getting responses. If it were me I'd start a phone call campaign and mention that maybe you need to call WDW Guest Services to find out what you have to do to order a cake. Or, perhaps mention that you don't really want to have to go thru a non-Disney bakery but you will if you have to. Good luck. Sending good vibes your way....:goodvibes

My hubby and I are celebrating our 8 year anniversary when we are in Disney. Our first night is at Flying Fish. We are thinking of ordering a mini wedding cake from Boardwalk Bakery. Do I call them directly or call the main line?? Thanks in advance for the help!!!
