I had a cake for my wife delivered when staying at the Poly. It was an incredible cake! ::yes::

You are able to choose the type of cake, the type of filling, the type of frosting and request decorations (and the writing, too of course). It was simply delicious. ::yes::

Oooh, I have a question that I hope you can help with. We will be at the Poly in less than 2 weeks. We are celebrating our 15+ Years Wedding Anniversary. I made adr's for the Hoop Dee Doo dinner show a few days into our stay and would like to have a cake for dessert at the show (Im not too fond of the dessert they provide; so this is why Im choosing that night). Anyway, there will be 5 of us; so Im sure an 8 inch is more than enough because I do won't something custom (taste is very important!)

My question is...Should I order from Poly private dining to be delivered to the dinner show? Do I just call the cake hotline? Or even a direct number for Hoop Dee Doo? I did read on the first page of this thread that cakes for Wilderness Lodge can be ordered from CR? The show is on the campgrounds so....I just don't know? Please HELP!!!

I have seen pictures of white chocolate Mickey Mouse and Pluto figurines, with chocolate covered strawberries at their feet. I'm interested in ordering one of these as a surprise for my husband (only changing it to Goofy).

People that have posted these photos all mentioned they ordered it from the Grand Floridan Bakery. Does that mean it would only be available to those people staying at the Grand Floridan, or eating at one of the TS restaurants there?

Am I able to order it from another bakery? Our only TS at Grand Floridan is a breakfast (10am) at 1900 Park Fare. TWo days before we leave. Ideally I'd love to have it on our arrival day or the next couple of days.

- We are staying at CSR.
- Our dinner TS ressies are at SoA, Coral Reef, O'hanas, Boma and Garden Grill.

Thank you - Thank you

I thought I would end up calling CR and Im hoping it works out since most of the post I read had good things to say about Chef Brian!

Here's to yummy!:thumbsup2

Here are some pictures of my daughter's cake for her 16th birthday. She wanted red roses & black roses on it and she wanted something to do with the Haunted Mansion. The cake was white cake with Bavarian cream filling with strawberries. It had chocolate fondant. It was an 8 inch cake (3 layers of cake with 2 layers of filling). The hitchhiking ghosts were a nice touch. We had this cake at 1900 Park Fare on August 1, 2010. We ordered from Pat at the Grand Floridian and were very pleased with the result. My daughter loved it! And, it tasted good as well. The cost for this cake was $100.

I really like that cake. The ghosts add a great touch.

I got a shock yesterday. I had called GF private dining a week or so ago because I had a couple questions about something we are planning for January at Narcossee. I talked Donna because Pat was on vacation. I mentioned to her that I was wanting a cake for when we are at the Yachtsman to celebrate a personal achievement for my husband.

Yesterday my phone rang and it was Matt from the Yachtsman wanting to discuss the cake I wanted for January. Donna had forwarded my phone number to him. He had me send him links to pictures of what I was thinking and he told me he would design something and email me a picture of what he came up with.

I was totally shocked because I was planning on calling Yachtsman in December to get the ball rolling. I asked if this was too early and he said no he preferred to have some lead time to get his ideas flowing.

At this point all I know is that it is a Mad Hatter Cake with red and blue fondant, a chocolate Mickey on top, with sugar Mickey head balloons and silver stars coming out of the top.

Ok we are back and I've been putting off posting. We were really upset and disappointed with the cake we got. In fact we sent it back and didn't pay for it. My husband was furious. In fact he didn't even eat, he made them take his meal off the bill and went back to the room to cool down.

I see the cake of the IPod and the detail that went into it and I wonder what in the world happened with our cake. I read a post about someone asking for a cake last minute and it was going to be a doozie and lets see if Brian could pull it off. This cake was requested around the same time ours was to be done. Pics haven't been posted yet of that cake but it really makes me wonder!!!

DH and I came up with a design that we wanted and he quickly put some images together in PhotoShop (not at all perfect by any means because we were trying to get everything over to Brian).

I clearly stated that the images were for example purposes and I didn't want ediable images. I wanted them to pop off of the cake. I loved how they did the cars cake where everything popped off the sides of the cake and nothing was an ediable image.

The cake wasn't horrible but the work was sloppy and the attention to detail just wasn't there. All the images were printed and just slapped on the cake. Most of the images were grainy because they were small images that were blown up. It was not at all worth the $200 we were quoted for it.

My son wanted a test track cake. On the top of the cake we wanted to use the Mickey Head Pin of test track. I said I want the Mickey Ears to stand out and pop but lay flat on the cake. Maybe cut out of fondant if that makes sense.
Mickey_Ears_top.jpg

On the side we wanted the big Test Track sign like when you walk up to the ride:
Test_track_entrence.jpg

On another side of the cake we wanted the caution door when you go in to see the movie. We wanted the door to say 09 because it was my son's 9th bday so we did a quick mock up in photoshop:
ride_movie.jpg

On the final side we wanted the crash doors and we wanted some type of car crashing into the cake. I said it didn't have to be a test track car. Any kind would work. This part of the cake was awesome. A little chocolate race car was made which was cool :) Here is the design we sent of just the doors without the car:
crash_door.jpg

I also requested a dummy head coming out of the opposite side of the cake where the car crashed to look like the dummy went through the cake. I asked if the yellow caution signs could be done around the cake where there were empty spaces to help fill them up.

Here is what we got:

We have our December vacation planned out for my daughter's birthday but I will not be ordering a special cake from Disney again :( :( :(

I am sorry for this sorry looking cake. It IS/WAS not worth two hundred dollars. I would have been so disappointed and after getting home I would have been livid.:scared1:

I have called Private Dining at the Yacht Club, for the cake I need September 1st. I sent an e-mail on Wed afternoon to Yvette. How long do I wait to hear from her before I try again? The girl on the phone said Yvette was working Wed evening, so she should get the e-mail right away.

Thanks!!

[/IMG]Here is a pic of my DS14 birthday cake from CakemanBri sent over to CRT for a big family dinner.
It was unbeleivable!

I contacted Brian thru the cake hotline about a week and a half before we went. This was 3-10. I email back and forth with a few sketches of what DS and I had come up with. This looks just like what we wanted only better.
Cost -$135
Marble cake,vanilla buttercream icing, fondant
Fully painted 3-d white choc cake topper
Presents were fondant, I think thebig 14 and stars were also
I now have to come up with another idea for other DS b-day that is coming up in a month. He is hoping for something just as terrific. I am sure Brian will be able to do another masterpiece for us.

I just e-mailed this pic to Yacht Club pastry chef, for a cake similar to this and was quoted, $275!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am a bit upset now, I could see $175 and was prepared to pay that, but $275? I'm thinking I just won't be able to get one now for our 20th. I really don't want a cookie cutter cake, but this is where we are having dinner.

Anyone get a quote recently from the Yacht Club recently??

Did he give you any idea of price?

Hmmmm... The Mickey topper is worth about $35, plus more for hand painting. At first I thought maybe the discrepancy was due to Y&BC only offering 10-inch customizable cakes, while CR will go as small as 8 inches, but the one in the picture looks like a 10-inch too.

I would contact the chef at Y&BC and ask for a price breakdown. Heck, I would even tell him that the original cake only cost $175 from the Contemporary, so why the $100 markup?

They haven't given me a contact for the chef, I am going through the coordinator, and I just e-mailed her and told her Brian at the Contemp, made it in March for $135. I also asked her if there was something on it that was particularly expensive that could be cut out or toned down.
I am distraught now though thinking I won't be getting a cake like I had been planning on for the last 6 months.
I could have Bri do one I guess and send it to our room at the Contemp, but we are there for Fri/Sat only and our anniversary isn't until Wed.
I also feel like I'm running out of time since I leave in 1 week.
Ok, sorry, it's been a long rough week and I am being whiney.

 It will work out! I think you did exactly the right thing—surely they can at least approximate the cake while keeping within your budget.

So I need some help I would like to order from Brian but how do I go about this? I need a holiday birthday cake (Christmas) I was hoping for Strawberry anywhere in the cake I LOVE strawberries and this is for my birthday.

Thanks in advance for any help

We are eating at 1900 PF CRT 'Ohana Wishes Dessert Party and Crystal Palace oh and Kona.

Is there a better place to have this delivered?

So we’re back from our most recent WDW trip and it was a great time as always.

Before our trip, I worked with Brian (cakemanbri) to get a custom cake made for my dad’s 60th Bday. My original “Handy Manny’s Tools” theme didn’t pan out ... but the revised Tools & Mickey Heads theme couldn’t have turned out better! Brian really outdid himself ... and the cake tasted as good as it looked!

(ETA: The fingerprints on the ganache and the silver on the beige sign are a result of carrying the cake from The Wave to our room at BLT ... during a rain shower ... some of the pieces shifted a bit.)

P1030349.jpg

The only snag we faced was that the cake didn’t get delivered to the restaurant – somehow it got left in the bakery. We were trying to sort things out on the down-low so as not to ruin the surprise for my dad, but ended up having to let him in on the surprise in the end. The staff at The Wave was great about boxing the cake up for us and even gave us extra candles and matches so that we could have a celebration in our room. (Also, there was no problem getting a separate bill for the cake.)

We didn’t actually get around to eating the cake until two days later – and it tasted fresh, moist, and delicious! We ate the last pieces on our last night (6 full days later) and it was still very tasty.

For a really special occasion, I would definitely order another custom cake.

Details:

Date: August 10, 2010
Location: CR Bakery via The Wave
Cost: $75 plus tax and gratuity – basically $100 total
Size: 8”
Flavour: Chocolate cake with raspberry mousse filling, the icing is milk chocolate ganache, underneath is a thin layer of light chocolate buttercream. The tools, tool chest, mickey heads, etc. are mostly made of painted chocolate ... I believe the beige/white parts are fondant but could be wrong.

Hey guys this is my first post, been going to Disneyland for years and the Wife and I are finally making a trip to WDW Sept 9th-17th. I have ADR at IL Mulino on our Anniversary on Sept 12th and wanted to suprise my wife with a special cake. Do they do the special Mini Wedding Cakes at the Swan Resort? I also emailed the Swan's private dining a few days ago, but have yet to hear back from them. Any info would be helpful. Thanks

Well, since he's at the Contemporary, I would say that any of the restaurants at Contemporary would be the best place to have it delivered. However, you can always ask about having it delivered to one of the MK places you're going or the Poly. I think it would prolly be stepping on too many toes at the GF Bakery if you asked to have one of his cakes delivered there! :rotfl:

Just call the main number for the Contemporary and ask to be transferred to Private Dining—they can hook you up with the chef.

The mini wedding cakes in this thread were created by Disney bakeries, so, since the Swan is owned by a different company, you can't get them there. However, according to the literature for the Swan & Dolphin's upcoming Food & Wine Classic, they have an award-winning pastry chef there, so I'm sure he can come up with something to your liking. Just call Il Mulino to arrange it.

This is the cake we ordered for my DD's 16th birthday celebration at California Grill last week.

I contacted the cake hotline, which routed me to the CR, and said I wanted a mini wedding cake, and they told me to contact brian via e-mail, which I did, and he confirmed what I wanted, and I then went back to private dining at CR and placed the official order.

I requested a mini wedding cake in pastel green with edible flowers and butterflies in shades of blue and purple. It was vanilla cake with buttercream icing. It was gorgeous and pretty tasty, too, and DD was absolutely thrilled. The cost was $30, and we thought it was worth it for the special occasion. It was supposed to be only 1 serving, but we all had a few bites.

This is the only pic I have uploaded, will add more:

This is really pretty and I think this cake would be perfect for DD's bday celebration. We're doing her bday dinner at CRT on 9/19 - will they do cakes like this at CRT? TIA!

I'm beginning to think this cake might not happen. If they only contact me back every 2-3 days, I am leaving Friday 6am, so I only have until Thursday to get this all straightened out.

My family and I will be going to DW for my son's 3rd Birthday. We plan to actually have two cakes for him. One when we arrive, hopefully waiting on us in our room at the AKL-KV and the other for our last night at Chef Mickey's. Does anybody know the contact information for who I need to contact other than just private dining at AKL and CR? We want to do a jungle themed cake with animals for arrival and a pirate themed cake for the last night. When should I begin dialogue (Our arrival is 9/12 and leaving 9/17)? Thanks in advance.
