DS wants a cake with Mickey, Donald, and Goofy. He wants the characters shown in black and white, around the sides and in color (present style) on top. Does anyone know who I should call for this?

Unless something has changed recently, you don't need to be staying at the Boardwalk or eating at one of their restaurants to get a cake from their bakery. We've dropped by there ourselves and picked up custom birthday cakes two years in a row. They do a great job, and no delivery fees obviously!

I would say double check with WL to see what they can do for you. As of last year, they did not do custom cakes; basically flowers only. If they did switch those duties over to the Contemporary, hopefully people are having more luck than we did before!

If this in reference to my response to goodfaerie's post which has been merged into the general cake chatter thread ... she wanted a cake delivered to WL and that is not generally possible from Boardwalk Bakery. I never said that you couldn't pick up a cake there - I have done this myself (though only when staying nearby, I don't think it's worth the hassle of toting a cake back to a MK resort myself when there are great options available there). I just answered the question within the parameter of what she said she wanted.

GL, goodfaerie! I hope the CR does something great for you. :-)

Thanks for the info lurkyloo. I'll have to see what magic I can pull out from under Mickey's baker's hats for our Anniversary .

Thanks lurkyloo for your most helpful info!! :)

Dh and I will be celebrating our 10th anniversary in exactly one month at WDW. We are staying at the Poly, but have ressies at 2 GF restaurants: Victoria and Albert's and Citrico's. We will have so much food at V&As that I didn't want to do a cake there. Citrico's it is.
I can't seem to find the thread where I previously had seen this information, so I have a couple questions:
1. Isn't there a 6 in anniversary cake at GF restaurants?
2. What are the custom cake/ filling flavors? I know there was quite an extensive list.

Any ideas on a special cake? Our wedding cake was a basketweave design with flowers, but I really want a fondant covered cake. I thought about having it say "After 10 years, you're still my Prince Charming" or "10 years into our happily ever after"

I know my fellow cake chatters can help me!

Okay this was for my daughter's birthday. She is a St. Patrick's day baby.

We recieved the cake on 3/13/2010 from the Comtemporary bakery at our room at Bay Lake Towers. The cake was chocolate with chocolate buttercream frosting inbetween the layers. I have to say I love the "coolness" factor of the cake but I didn't love the actual eating of the cake. It was kind of dry. I will probably not order one again just maybe do a special dessert or something to celebrate. The total cost was $143.12 for an 8" mad hatter cake.

jennyh2829, that cake looks pretty sweet! Too bad it was dry though. I wish Disney was able to make an awesome looking cake that tasted wonderful and moist.

Would love to see pics of mini wedding cakes so I can steal someone ideas..lol and prices..having dinner on our anniversary at Narcossee and working on getting limo to pick us up from our resort and bring us to dinner plus order a mini wedding cake and need to get my budget in order..TIA!

I would like to order a special cake for my husband for father's day, we are having lunch at Le Cellier that day, so I am concerned about left overs and getting them back to our room. Please share any ideas for great father's day ideas, I can't really think of any favorite disney things, that he has, but did just see a pirate themed cake that looked pretty neat. We are staying at BLT, so I could just maybe get a cake delivered there, to enjoy that evening. Which bakery would I call? Any tips for a successful order :)

Is he a sports fan or maybe a favorite ride. I'm doing a Haunted Mansion cake for DH, he just loves the ride and I just love him so that will be our anniversary cake.

Thinking of doing the slipper at 1900 Park Fare for my mom's birthday. How does it taste? I am seeing that the cakes are sometimes dry--does the slipper taste ok?

First let me say I love your posts. I just got my husband to agree to a VR next year at Disney! We are going to do an Escape VR so no cake tasting and I have been going crazy trying to figure out how to taste the peanut butter and choclate cake since he loves reeses and I thought it would be perfect! I think we will be making a trip over to the Boardwalk in 2 weeks while visiting Orlando to try what ever cakes we can. :cool1:

Congrats on your upcoming vow renewal! :goodvibes Just know that the peanut butter chocolate cake slice you can get at the BoardWalk Bakery is MUCH better than what you'll get if you order a custom cake. In fact, maybe one of these days I'll see if I can get them to sell me an entire cake before they slice it.... :scratchin

The bakery you need to call depends on where you decide to have the cake. Epcot cannot do anything fancier than a screen print, so if you want an elaborately themed pirate cake, your best bet is to call Private Dining at the Contemporary and have it delivered to your room at BLT. If you do decide to have it at Le Cellier, just call the Cake Hotline listed on the first page of this thread. :thumbsup2

I understand the BW Bakery has cakes available for purchase anytime in the case, but does anyone know what they are? Is there a place to find out what types of cakes they may keep on hand. I would love to have a nice cake, but I'm not too interested in paying a fortune for a super fancy one with fondant etc. I just want delicious!! :)

Well, our experience was quite different from Lurkyloo's. My DH walked into BWB and bought an 8 inch chocolate with chocolate butter cream cake that was sitting in the display case. It was definitely not the celebration cake but was simply decorated with some non-Disney flowers. They personalized with a message while he waited. I don't know what they keep on hand or what their inventory is on a typical day, but, IMO, yes, this is a possibility. Unfortunately, it wasn't the best cake - it was a little dry and the butter cream had a shortening taste - by far, the worst of the several Disney cakes we have had over the years. Personally, I wouldn't do this again (it was a bit of an emergency because another restaurant screwed up our anniversary celebration). It's much less stress and the cake will likely be fresher to place an order for what you want specifically, you know?

Hmmm...a couple of bad reviews on cake tastes recently I see. Has anyone had a good experience with moist delicious cake lately? If so, please, share where you got it from, the flavors, and how was it decorate? Thanks!

Ordered 2 cakes for upcoming trip mini wedding cake for our anniversay and one for mom's bday with castle on it..will post pictures

HI. We're not actually going to Disney for a while now, but we do know that we want to order a specialty cake from California Grill. I'm just worried after seeing some of the pictures of cakes and hearing some of the difficulties with ordering. Our situation is made worse because I won't be the one calling since I'm not in the US, it will be my mom. I just want to get as much information as possible to make things easy for her.

We want an African themed chocolate cake with Bavarian cream and strawberries and chocolate frosting. To get the best result, should we ask for an Africa theme with mud and stick huts and palm trees and monkeys? OR our other idea was to ask for a 'it's a small world' Africa theme. Just we don't want something screen printed on the top or a white chocolate cutout of 'it's a small world' dolls or Lion King characters or anything. I saw an 'it's a small world' cake on the picture thread and that's not the cake we want.

Do most people who order from Contemporary private dining get an email? And if they do get an email, do most people send pictures? Thanks for any help.

Here's my post from a few pages back. This cake was very good! The slipper is actually white chocolate not cake. Very Good!!
Thought I'd post these 2 cakes I ordered during this past year.
This one was for our big Birthday Gala with my Disboard friends. We were celebrating my birthday & I wanted to show my appreciation to them for their friendship. So I had this cake waiting for us in our BLT villa the first night we were there. They were shocked! They kept saying that it was MY birthday & I brought the cake! :rotfl: It was delicious!! It was an 8" chocolate cake with white chocolate filling!! I ordered it through the Contemporary bakery & cost was $32 plus $15 for the edible topping plus tax & gratuity

This one was ordered for my DSIL's birthday at the Grand Floridian Cafe. She loved it!! :goodvibes Unfortunately, I've forgotten the price. sorry. Again, I ordered this through the Contemporary bakery.

Got my Anniversary cake ordered for our Citrico's dinner in a week!
Pat told me that my only cake options were yellow or chocolate. I was suprised as I remembered reading all the other flavors, but she said that now only the wedding and larger cakes could pick these out.
OK......how bout the filling? White or dark choc mousse, cream custard, choc or vanilla buttercream. the end. OK......
and then she said for a 6" cake there is 2 prices, for the buttercream it's $57, for the basic fondant, it's $66.

I begged her for a lemon cake with cream custard, vanilla buttercream, white fondant, stamped with gold mickeys. No topper, just flowers. She tells me they are only gum flowers. Can't I have some peach roses in buttercream? No.

And I wanted the traditional mickey foil stamps on the side of the cake.

This is when it really gets wierd.
She says, "4 mickey stamps on the side"
OK....I've seen alot of anniversary cake pictures and there's alot more than 4 mickey stamps.
She says, "Oh, but they are made of real gold and silver and cost $$$$ and if you get more than 4 I have to charge you alot more!"

you've got to be kidding me........:headache:

Guess we'll wait until the 4th to see what kind of anniversary cake the GF puts together for us!
