ds's cars cake will be 100$ for an eight inch cake, marble cake, butter cream frosting. they can't do modeling choclate of mater nor lightning so it had to be plasitc figures. i also inquired about something for dd at cehf mickeys....and was told yes they can do a cindy's slipper there, so one's been ordered for her so she doesn't feel left out. price for that 12.99.

the pastry chef i was in touch with was awesome, he emailed back the next am bright an early and we've been going back and forth today. once we agreed on the cake he asked me to call the private dining number to get confirmation and hold it with a cc number. i called and first ring i was pleasantly surprised to get a lovely cm. i'm over the moon! so guys, if at first you're told no, double check! i'll post pics when we return.

Why is it that the other bakeries will decorate an 8" cake and the Boardwalk Bakery won't? I called them last week, still on the hunt for somewhere that will accomodate my wishes only to be told that they will not 'fancy up' anything under a 10" cake. I know I will get this sorted somewhere but they aren't making it easy.

This is my cake from last night!

Location: California Grill
Cake: 8 inch vanilla cake with buttercream filling and frosting, purple fondant with sugar effect, sugar flowers, hand painted white chocolate tinkerbell and white chocolate sign with "Happy 25th Birthday Megan"
Cost: $100

See this is what makes me insane about Disney. I paid more for my crappy Goofy cake and look at what you got! You know, I still have not heard back from WDW about my cake?

As god as my witness, I will never ever be swindled by these thieves at Disney bakeries again.

This is what I thought too! But on my next trip I'm actually thinking about being swindled again. This next time it'll be a mini cake, so if it's as awful as last time at least I'm not out but around $30. I figure it's too small to screw up too much. It's a warped way of thinking isn't it. :rotfl:

I'll be your witness too. :) Anytime I think about ordering another cake for an upcoming trip all I have to do is look at the picture of my AKV cake and I quickly get over it. But man, I'd love to have an awesome Star Wars cake like the Jedi Mickey one I saw on here once. Must.. be... strong... use.. the... force.. and... not... order.... cake......

If you feel yourself weakening, remind yourself that you could have an exquisite gourmet meal with unbeatable ambiance at V&A for what you pay for one cake. :goodvibes

(Take your husband with you, and skip ordering a cake next time too) ;)

Wow! I am excited to find this thread!! But now I am getting a little worried..We will be at WDW in Sept.. We are celebrating my grandson's 2nd birthday on the 26th.. I am looking to order a Mickey Cake since he loves him..lol We will be at Chef Mickey's for breakfast on his birthday.. I am looking for something special...I do decorate cakes as a hobby for family and friends but this is a little different for me,not being able to see what I am getting...Could you please help me figure out what to order? So we just returned from our 12 day trip and although I so wanted a disney cake I didn't get one. My DH's cousin works for Disney and suggested to just use Publix. So I did and WOW it was an amazing cake!!! I will have pictures up soon. It was an 8 inch basket weave design white cake. It had whipped topping icing and a layer of lemon and a layer of raspberry gel. It cost 29.75:cool1:

You would think they would realize people will be comparing cakes on websites, & try to be more uniform. The internet has become a powerful thing. Sadly, they don't seem to care, & keep doing things for some that they won't do for others. They should be embarrassed for people to see a picture of your cake, along with the price you paid for it.

This is a bit off topic, but things like this have always been my only gripe with Disney. When people pay the same price for any product, they should receive the same quality (or the same treatment). To me, children on Wish trips or similar should be the only exceptions. I'm all for them getting special treatment.

I'm glad you liked your Publix cake. I peddle them all the time on here. No, I don't work for Publix, but we do get all our cakes there. Our WDW cake was a big letdown compared to our Publix cakes. I also have some Publix, cakes pictures to post, as soon as I figure out how to do that. :rolleyes1

We ordered a cake from the Contemporary to be delivered to Chef Mickey's breakfast on March 10th (I think!). I got in touch with Chef Brian and we were able to order an 8 in chocolate/chocolate mousse cake with a Princess and the Frog theme. I want to thank CakeManBri, you did a great job! It was $135, which was a lot more than what I paid for a similar cake at GF in Nov., but I was pleased with the cake itself. Just not the cost ;) The cake itself was the best tasting out of the 3 that we have ordered at WDW. It was moist and very rich.

Sorry for the horrible cake-cutting job, but it is hard with a plastic knife!

Oh My goodness, do not apologise for the cake cutting. That cake looks AMAZING :faint: :cloud9:

I was going to order chocolate with chocolate buttercream but that chocolate with chocolate mousse, looks SO good!

Thank you so much for sharing

If you upload your pictures to a site like Photobucket you can then copy the IMG code that the site will provide, paste that IMG code into a DIS post and bada-bing you can share pictures.

Hi,
Has anybody ever ordered a special type of cake from Disney? Not their usual, cake with filling and frosting?

DH and I went on a disney cruise and had this WONDERFUL cake called Celebration cake at Lumiere. We both loved it and I would love to surprise him with a similar cake for our anniversary at WDW. Do you think any disney bakery would be able to do that?
I was even able to get the recipe from DCL. But it's for 560servings... :lmao:

Any help is appreciated!
