I am new to ordering cakes and tried to go back and read many pages of this thread. I want to order a cake for my DD while eating at Be Our Guest. Can you order from Its Tasty Too and have it delivered into the parks? If not, have you ever ordered a cake for the Magic Kingdom? Thanks for your help!

They cannot deliver inside the parks but I "think" you might be able to pick up a cake and bring it with you. I've never done it so I'm not 100% sure on that.

But I have ordered cakes from Disney specifically from the bakery that makes them for Magic Kingdom restaurants and they've been pretty fabulous. I'm at work so I can't post pics at the moment but from scrolling through this thread you can get an idea of what kind of cakes they can make.

I had 4 cakes at meals in the Magic Kingdom. The pics and info are on Page 138.

Thank you so much. I want it to be a surprise so I don't think picking it up will work. I looked through about 30 pages of the thread to try to see some pictures.

If and when you could post some pictures - that would be geeat.

Thanks again!!

These are two that I've had. The top one is a 6" 2-layer marble cake with vanilla butter cream and a lighted white chocolate castle. The bottom is a 4 layer marble cake with fondant and vanilla buttercream.

Here are two more. The bigger one is a 4 layer 6 inch marble cake with fresh strawberries in the center and vanilla buttercream with a while chocolate slipper on the top. The other is a 2-tier mini cake which is very popular but small IMO.

I truly appreciate you posting the pictures. They are all beautiful. How did they taste? We want the buttercream. My daughter doesn't care for fondant. Are any of them from the MK baker?

Thanks again.

They were all from the Contemporary bakery which is the only bakery that services MK restaurants. The first one we had completely hooked me on Disney cakes. It was so delicious and moist and the buttercream frosting was to die for. 3 out of 4 cakes have been absolutely delicious. One was a little dry and more grocery store quality. I since wondered if they dressed up a standard podium cake but it could have been a complete fluke I'm really not sure. My most recent cake was the pirate one and it was amazing.

I'm not generally a fan of fondant either but I actually like the one they use at Disney. But like lurkyloo said there is buttercream beneath the fondant (and plenty of it) so you can just peel it off if you didn't want to eat it.

Thank you so much. I am so glad to hear that they were delicious (well most of them). Thank you for explaining again about the fondant cake. I have made cakes with fondant and did not have buttercream under it. I will contact the Contemporary bakery and see what they offer.

Thanks again!

Does anybody know if there are any restrictions on Star Wars characters? I'm thinking about ordering a mini cake for my husband since we'll be in Disney World a couple weeks before his birthday. I'd like to do a Boba Fett or Darth Vader cake for him. I'm contemplating having it brought to our dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table or to Chef Mickey's.

There are restrictions. You'll need to chat with the pastry chef at the Contemporary (who will make the cake if you dine at either restaurant) to see what's allowed. Email address is in Post #2 of this thread.

Does anyone have a picture of a Small World themed cake? It will just be my husband and I so I am leaning toward a two tiered mini cake.

They might be able to make a mini version of this one...

I sent the Contemporary Bakery my Star Wars question the other day and received a response from Chef Donald this morning. He replied that they normally do not sculpt the character due to copyright restrictions and to keep the integrity of the characters. He offered a mini 2-tier cake with a 2D image of Darth Vader standing next to it for $50. I sent another question asking if they could do a more generic Star Wars theme and included an image. So we'll see what the response to that is.

Need some advise from the wise cakes ones here!
We are going to Disney mid-Sept, it will be both my son's and my birthday when we go. :teeth: I'd really like to do one of the specialty cakes on our last night - dinner at the Poly. There will be a total of 3 adults and 1 toddler.
Would a mini-cake be enough or do you think we should go with the 6"? Since our last night I'd rather not have to worry about leftovers.

I ordered a mini cake for my anniversary and my husband and I shared the top layer that night and the bottom layer the next night so I think it would be enough.

One post above yours (http://disboards.com/threads/official-disney-cake-chatter-part-iv.3261922/page-169#post-55265313), a cake was made by the Contemporary bakery and delivered to BOG.
