No they won't. That's a huge factor for us, because we wouldn't be going back to the hotel anytime soon after dinner, and no one is going to want to carry around a cake for the rest of the night. We will have DD's stroller though, so I'm kind of wondering if the cake would fit in the stroller basket ... we wouldn't get any fillings that would need to be immediately refrigerated, but I'm still not sure if it would be a good idea ... hmmm.

Our local bakery does two layers and that is too much for our family of 5, so my mind would be blown if it came out with four layers!

Does anyone know if the CRT cakes are two or four layers?

The CRT cakes have 2 layers. :)

Has anyone done a cars theme? I need a cake for chef mickeys in April with a cars theme and looking for inspiration! Also, for chef m- which cake line do I call?

Just wanted to report back and say how impressed i have been with the communication from the AKL team. We have had a couple of emails back and forth to make absolutely sure they have it right. Amy has been my contact on the pastry team and she has been VERY helpful and responsive. I am used to working with Brian at the contemporary who was always happy to answer emails and take suggestions, and I have to say that so far AKL has been just as good! I have high hopes that his cake will be just as awesome and things we have gotten from Brian in the past.

Anyone get a fancy inside out cake yet? I will be eating at Kona, The Wave and San Angel Inn. Which one do you recommend? I know someone said Epcot has been doing some fantastic cakes lately....TIA

Epcot's pastry team does fantastic cakes, but they do not provide the cakes at every location. San Angel Inn is owned by an outside company and gets generic cakes from an off-site vendor. The info for Epcot in Post #2 of this thread specifies which locations use Epcot's pastry team and which don't.

I would get that fancy cake at the Wave. The Contemporary is much easier to deal with and has lower prices than the GF, which does fancy cakes for the Poly.

Update on my search for a cake. i got ahold of Boardwalk Bakery and they said i had to order a cake through Private Dining at our resort, Boardwalk. i called and was told that the 6" cakes only come in chocolate and vanilla. If i wanted a carrot cake, or anything else, it would have to be 8". Since we have two birthdays, it would be two cakes, and two 8" cakes would be way too much for only 10 people. So we decided to get a variety of mini cakes and cupcakes from the Boardwalk Bakery. Two of us can go down first thing in the morning and pick out a nice assortment, including a mini carrot cake. Then my brother-in-law can pick them up later and take them to our room before he comes to meet us in Epcot. Then after dinner at the Coral Reef we can all go back to the room and celebrate. If you google Boardwalk Bakery then look under Images, they appear to have an incredible selection.

Posting for the first time. :)

We're going in April for our second trip. This time we'll be there for my oldest sons 8th birthday so cake is a must. We are staying at akl and doing lunch poolside that day so wanted it delivered there and then I'll take to the room. He has requested a Star Wars cake. Probably two tier and medium sized like 6" 10". Bottom layer chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream. Top layer white cake, Bavarian cream and strawberries filing, white buttercream-fondant. He wants darth Vader big on it, but then also storm trooper, millennium falcon, yoda, chewie and bb8. Also adding lighting effects bc I saw that awesome idea posted. :) Any idea if this will be possible? Also our trip is 3 months out but I was thinking of contacting next week..too early?

Also celebrating our 10th anniversary with dinner at narccoossees. Will hopefully get the mini cake in a replica of ours which was super simple-- red velvet cake, buttercream white icing smooth with a red band along the bottom. Topper was a 3D two joined silver hearts so hoping they can just put this flat on top.

Also planning on chocolate slippers at 1900pf dinner. Should I order one for everyone? No certain celebration there.

Can anyone tell me what company makes the podium cakes? Are they available at Bona? Do I just ask for one at check in? Is there an ingredient list somewhere?

Hello all!

I'm planning to have a cake for DH & I, our 25th anniversary, delivered to our room at the contemporary.

A question: roughly when do you think they would put it in our room?

Here is why I ask. Our plan is to do online check in, drop off our bags at the desk by 7:30 am and be at the MK for EMH rope drop. We will spend the day at the MK, heading back to the room around 4 for rest, unpacking, perhaps a swim or a nap. We have dinner reservations at the California Grill at 7 pm.

What I would hope is the cake could be put in our room while we are at dinner, so that when we are done eating we could head upstairs for dessert and ... well, it is our anniversary.

Can I request when they deliver it or will we get it when we get it?

FYI - all of this is a surprise for DH. He doesn't even know we are going...

I did something similar for my brother's birthday this year. When I placed my order they asked if we had done online check in and when we would arrive or when I would want the cake to be delivered. We travel from Europe and arrive late so I asked her to put it in our room at around 10pm and when we arrived it was already in our room, plates and cutlery and a nice card. Worked like a charm.

And btw. it was a surprise for my brother too and he was VERY surprised. ::yes::

Thank you, dizneeat!!!

I have never ordered a cake before but really want to this time. It would be so great to have it work out just as I want.

Was the first time for us too! But the Contemporary team was so easy to work with. I am sure it is gonna work out for you too.
I emailed them and sent them photos of what I wanted, then, once I had an answer, I called and finalized the details. Very easy process!

Sona, as noted above, they asked us what time we wanted the cake delivered, and it was there when we arrived back from the park, just as planned. CR was great to work with!

Hi all! Has anyone ever had a cake delivered to Bier Garten in Germany? If so, can you please offer advice i.e. who to contact, what kind are available etc? Thank you!! :)

I have not, but all of the information for ordering is on page one of this thread.

A note of warning. We LOVE Biergarten, but have never had a cake delivered there because we are so stuffed with food by the end of our meal. Their buffet is awesome and their desserts are absolutely divine. It may not matter for you, but thought I'd throw that out there. We'd never have room for cake at this meal.

Instead of the Star Wars aniversary cake I have another idea. Has anybody ordered a cake with Waldorf & Statler or Kermit & Miss Piggy on top. I was thinking of something with line "Happiely married for 13 Years" ... "How much longer do you have?" Not sure if that makes sense, we are from Germany, so non native speaker. Any idea how to say it correct.

I just talked to AKL about a Star Wars cake, so i can answer some of this based on what i was told. They will not do ANY 3d sculpted figures on the cake, only an edible image printed on the cake or on white chocolate as a stand up. I was interested in Han and Leia and they had that so I would assume they can do other Star Wars characters. You probably will have to choose between a few of the ones you listed because they have a set catalouge of images they use and you wouldn't be able to get that many on the cake because of the size they have to be printed at. The don't do a millennium falcon as far as I know. How big is your group? 2 tiers is going to be a LOT of cake. We are a family of 3 and ate for a week off one 8 inch.
