We will be celebrating my son's elementary school graduation this summer at Whispering Canyon Cafe with a party of 11. My son is allergic to tree nuts and peanuts. Is there a custom cake option for this that IS NOT gluten free as well and won't break the bank? We would like to spend $60 or less if possible for the cake. My son loves Star Wars in particular, he's a huge fan!
WL is serviced by the Contemporary. I've had several peanut/tree nut allergy cakes made by that bakery at a very reasonable price. I've had all kinds of themes.

Thank you! His allergy is upon digestion, not airborne, so if it's made in the same facility where they use nuts, as long as they properly wash everything and make sure no nuts come in contact with the product, it is fine. Our allergist permits us to eat nuts and nut butters at home and around him. We wash our hands afterwards and we don't kiss him. And we just keep them separate from everything else.

The typical ingredients for these cakes do not involve nut products so you should be fine ordering a normal custom cake and just making them aware of the allergies. If you want them from an entirely nut free bakery though you may be stuck with the allergy free cakes from someplace like Erin McKennas and those may be gluten-free, dairy-free, etc.

Great, thank you!

Quick off topic question. How did you find out the allergy wasn't airborne? Our allergist says we won't know for sure until there is an airborne reaction. Till then we assume its airborne. She's had her blood tested.

Since my son had always been around nuts and we found out when he was 7 that he has the nut allergy upon trying a pecan for the first time, the allergist said it is ingestion only. He also had his blood tested. Before the mild reaction to the pecan, he had been eating peanut butter, Nutella and bakery products containing almond paste for years. We were told to avoid all tree nuts and peanuts for him. He had component testing for peanut allergy, which concluded that he is only allergic to the component of peanuts which causes the mildest reaction possible, or even no reaction. That explained why he had been eating peanut butter for years with no reaction. Still, he told us not to give him anything containing peanuts.

Starting to think about DD's 6 bday cakes for our annual trip in May. On her actual birthday we are having dinner at 1900 Park Fare followed the Pirates and Pals cruise. She wants Elsa and Anna, but am trying to talk her into something different lol. She had a Frozen cake 2 years ago...And I think Mary Poppins would be so cute - she loves Mary Poppins...she keeps saying mom it's my cake haha

Then we will always get a large cake for many people for her party day - last year we used Its Tasty Too and it was great - may do that again. This year she wants Mickey and Minnie theme. Going to start looking through the threads, but if anyone has any ideas let me know. The large cake will be at POR.

Starting to plan our visit to celebrate my parent's 50th anniversary. Having trouble deciding where to have our big dinner. My mother loves BOG, but I was hoping to make BOG a lunch this time around. Looking for any design ideas, but hopefully some guidance on bakery. We used the Contemporary the last time and we were a little disappointed.

They do not want to do a vow renewal and they were married at the courthouse, so no wedding cake to duplicate, but I was actually thinking of getting a wedding style cake in a smaller size. There will be 12 of us, but I want an impressive cake.

Mickey and Minnie theme probably. Any links available to look at wedding cakes?

TIA

If she wants Anna & Elsa, let her have Anna & Elsa or that will be The Thing that she reminds you about for the rest of your life... "Remember that year you made me get the birthday cake YOU wanted on MY birthday?" :teeth:

So true!!!!!! I just need to "Let it Go" :-)

I am thinking I may order the 2 Tier Mini Cake since we will be at the buffet and then more sweets at Pirates and Pals. However, there will be 5 adults plus DD at dinner (then 2 addt'l adults for the cruise) and I wonder if everyone will want cake since it is so yummy. Decisions Decisions

Is it true Animal Kingdom Lodge won't do a cake for peanut allergies? They did one in October for me but referred me to Mckenna's this time (not it free, btw). Had the same trouble last time but when I approached the Contemporary bakery to make my cake for pick up and explained the reason why, Chef Brian called the pastry chef at AK. And I got my cake. Quite frustrating!

I think often the first response from many of the bakeries is to refer you to the allergy free options like Erin McKenna's. I have not dealt with AKL, but when I went through Magic Kingdom Cakes a couple of times they similarly sent me info about the allergy free cake, but once I explained that was not what I wanted they checked with the bakery and I was able to order. I think it also sometimes depends on who you speak to first. Did you question them about it or just got their first response?

It was a response vis email. I sent another email asking again. We'll see.

We got back last weekend from our 10th anniversary trip. It was also dh's birthday the day we checked in. I ordered the mixed berry cake from Coronado Springs Resort and had it delivered to our room for his birthday. The it was the smallest cake they had and I was quoted $35. That's exactly what it was! No service charge or anything else added to it. They delivered it to the room while we were at dinner. It was very moist and delicious and although it said it was for 4-6 people, it could have easily fed 8-10! The cake was a yellow cake with a whipped cream icing with strawberries on top. Between the layers of cake there was different types of berries, strawberries, raspberries, and black berries.

We had our anniversary dinner at Narcoossees. I ordered a mini cake for that. It was a yellow cake with white icing with strawberry mousse filling. I asked for a Mickey and Minnie head on the side and the words "10 Years and We Still Do" to be written on the plate. I was quoted $35, but with this one I DID have tax and a service charge. Total price was $45. Reading on here, I expected it to be larger than it was, but it was still plenty for us. We did finish it though! It was delicious and I would order one again!

Here are the pictures of each.......sorry about dh's birthday. He dove into it before I was able to get a better picture!

I'm excited, just started the cake ordering process for my son's 4th birthday on Leap Day this year, so the first time we are actually celebrating on his real birthday! I emailed magickingdomcakes@disney.com to place the order for our reservation at BOG. I asked for a Mickey Baseball themed cake, and they emailed me back within 24 hours with two pictures of Mickey playing baseball to choose from. I have requested a 6 inch Fancy Fondant cake with Red Sox colors and the 2D white chocolate image of Mickey playing baseball on top. I will keep you updated with the ordering process as I go, but so far so good!

Have gone back and forth with the Magic Kingdom cakes email a few times, and was given two Mickey Mouse playing baseball pictures to choose from and quoted at $89 for the six inch cake.

Does anyone have pictures of a Cheschire cat? I will be staying at CSR in April during DD's birthday.

We will be at Disney in August. All of the kids have graduated last year and now this year. We are going to be doing the Illuminations cruise. Do you know if I can get a cake ordered and have it on the boat as part of our celebration?

Yes you would contact yacht club private dining (or wherever your cruise is leaving from) and they will have it sent to the boat for you.

I read through the start of the thread but couldn't find the info. Can I order a cake for our dinner at Hoop De Doo?

I called Pat and sadly no Descendants and very limited Star Wars. So I ordered an Inside out cake! 16 days : )

Trying to decide about cake for our trip. We are going to celebrate my niece's 5th birthday in May. We're staying at the Boardwalk, and on the day of her birthday, we have a breakfast ADR at Cape May, and dinner ADR at Akershus. We will be taking a break at the hotel midday, and not sure yet if we'll stay for Illuminations that night (depends on if we get to see it earlier that week)

All of this is to ask what is our best option for cake time and place. Probably not breakfast, but to have something at the room during our break, or at dinner, or even back at the hotel after dinner? Boardwalk bakery seems to get good reviews, what about dealing with Akershus? We're 4 adults and 2 kids, so probably a 6 inch cake, probably princessy. Open to suggestions. ..TIA!
