how do u upload a pic on here?

First you have to upload it to a photo sharing site. I use photobucket. Once the photo is loaded on there copy the image code (should say img) then just paste that code into your post. It will look like a link but if you preview your post your picture should be visible.

I emailed them back and got a very quick response. I am so impressed with how quick they have emailed me back. I told her I was looking to do something more custom and possibly the mini 2 tier since it will just be the two of us.

She sent me a pic of the two that they do...simple two tier with mickey/minnie ears on top. But she said if that wasn't what I wanted I could email some pics and or description and they would see what the bakery could do.

DD is in love with Peter Pan so I sent her a couple of pics I had found and gave a brief idea of what I wanted and she has emailed me back that she sent it to the bakery and would get back with me with what they could do and cost as soon as she heard back from them.

I am thinking of the mini 2 tier too! It will be three of us and I think it will be plenty. I have an inspiration cake photo I hope can be a good template for the cake makers.

Again, please keep us in the loop on how it goes, and what your quote ends up being.

I also want to do the mini 2-tier (mini wedding cake is what Cake Decorator Donald at the Contemporary called them in an email to me) that is personalized, but I feel like they are giving me push back on doing this. :(

I asked for the bottom layer and top layer to be different colors, and also asked if I could get different cake/filling flavors, but he said that only vanilla with white chocolate mousse filling or chocolate with chocolate mousse filling, iced in white buttercream are available. I sent him pictures of various mini cakes I had found on this forum that were different colors on each tier (plus I sent inspiration photos of what I want the mini cake to look like). And I again asked if I could have different colors on each tier (waiting on response). I also sent pictures (again from this forum) of cut mini cakes that were not just the two options he gave me. Maybe in order to get a mini-cake outside of these two flavor options I have to use Boardwalk Bakery and not the Contemporary bakery?? BTW, I am hoping to have the cake delivered to Check Mickey.

Also, I would like to have a fondant animal added to the top of the mini-cake, but he has not indicated if they would do that (he did say that they could do a 2D image of a specific Disney character, but I asked in my follow-up for a generic fondant animal instead).

I know things have changed at the Contemporary bakery. We got a 2 tier mini wedding cake there in Aug, 2013. It was chocolate cake with peanut butter icing with a green fondant on it, topped with a Peter Pan and the cake had a general Peter Pan theme. It was adorable. But I know that was right before Chef Brian changed positions so I"m wondering if the change has to do with those doing the work now?

We got this cake and chocolate slipper during our most recent trip to CRT on 12/20/2014. We were celebrating DD's 11th birthday and got her the Royal Highness Package. The cake was vanilla. We boxed it up, took it back to the villa and then mom took it on the plane with her. She froze it the night before and wrapped it in wax paper and put it in zip lock bags. She kept it in the freezer until got it from her. We ate the cake a week later and it was really good. The chocolate slipper was for my mom and she loved it.

:worship: THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING THESE PHOTOS!!!! :worship:

Do you by chance remember how much the cake topper of Belle was with it being painted?

I am just wondering if I ordered a cake for our sons 5th birthday would I be able to bring something to put on the cake. I found these toy story figure play set at the Disney store. they are like maybe 4 inches high they would make a great piece for a cake.
thanks.

Yes - just let them know to leave space for the figures.

Is it possible to order cupcakes for pickup at Boardwalk Bakery? I'd love to surprise the grands with Mickey oreo cupcakes. Trying to do something special without too much sugar overload!! Thanks

It's definitely worth calling and asking! :thumbsup2

Looks like my problem is solved on where to get my DS graduation cake. We just upgraded from ASMu to OKW!:cool1: So now I can just order from the Boardwalk bakery ( I think that's right). Would it be better to pick the cake up at Olivia's or have it sent to the room?

You need to place your order through OKW and THEY will order it from BoardWalk Bakery. If you just call BWB directly they'll tell you they don't deliver to OKW. I'd have the cake sent to my room if that were an option. Much easier!

A couple questions though. First, are they doing cakes at BoG now or is it still on a case by case basis?

Several people have reported getting cakes there - it's just determined by whether the cake is too big to fit in their fridge.

Second, for those who have had fondant covered cakes, is there still a good amount of buttercream beneath the fondant?

Usually, yes! :thumbsup2

I am looking to order a Planes Fire and Rescue cake for our DGS 5th bday at chef mickeys. Does anyone have any pictures of a cake? I was quoted a price of $38.00 for a 6 inch but I would like to customize it.

I heard back on my request for a Peter Pan mini 2 tier. They said they could do a mini 2 tier with a 2d Peter Pan picture for $65. I passed. I don't think it is worth it to pay $30 for a 2d picture. I think DD would be just as happy with the fondant Mickey ears on the standard mini 2 tier cake. So I have ordered that one for $35 instead.

Thank you so much for getting back to us on this! This is good info to know. :) :cool1:

I just tried to order a Mini Cake for Kona Cafe at the Polynesian and they said that they didn't them. I thought I read on here that you could do that. :( Oops! Oh well! FYI to any others who may be looking to do that.

Also, I called the cake hotline--- should I have tried the private dining at GF instead?

Anyone find a source that shows a pictures of the available screen prints? Also I have not been successful finding pictures of the Chocolate figures. In particular the dark chocolate Minnie and Mickey. Anyone have something they can share?

I am looking into getting a Lady and the Tramp themed cake for June. My second choice would be a chocolate cake with the Mickey and Minnie dark chocolate tops. Anyone ordered something like either of these and have pictures they can share with me?

Got a call back from V&A's they quoted $90 to recreate the top of my wedding cake. Can't wait to see it!!

Yes. When you use the Cake Hotline, they connect you with the Polynesian, which has very limited cake-making abilities. The way you get a mini cake at the Poly is to call Grand Floridian private dining.

Disney does not have a website with its standard screen prints or cake designs. Supposedly they are working on one for the cake designs. Here are photos of the chocolate figures:

My mom ordered a two tier mini vanilla cake with peanut butter mousse filling and frosted in chocolate buttercream frosting in October 2014 that was made by the Contemporary Bakery and delivered to the Wilderness Lodge. I wonder if things have changed since then? The mini cake was made by Chef Brian and my mom told me that she exchanged emails with him.

I ordered 2 cakes for our vow renewal in October, one from disney and one from a woman previously mentioned and recommended on this thread so I wanted to leave a follow up review. I did not have the same experience as the person who recommended them, in fact I had a pretty awful experience and learned my lesson, disney is the way forward!

The company was cha cha delights based in orlando. Let me start by saying she had me pick up the cake in a random car park, not sure why I couldn't pick up from her house? She also didn't make it clear that we were just meeting in a car park, I went into the building looking for her, that whole thing was odd. She was really helpful in the emails before and I had no worries at all. I asked for a cake in light yellow into white but instead it was bright yellow which was no big deal in the grand scheme of things but it wasn't what I asked for. The worst part was that the cake was not held together with anything (ie dowels) and so the layers slipped and thus ruined the petals on the outside of the cake. The cake itself was very very heavy, more like pound cake. I quite liked the taste but no one else in my party did so the cake went into the bin almost completely untouched.

I emailed the woman about the cake slipping and she blamed everything but herself, I must have had the car too hot, drove badly etc but that's not the case, I had told her before I'm a cake maker myself so I know how to drive with one in the car, though I would of course have used dowels in a cake so large to make sure nothing slipped, especially with only icing on the outside instead of fondant.

This is the only picture I have of the cake, this was taken after I had a chef put it back together and try to smooth down the petals. This picture doesn't show just how bright the yellow was, it was almost fluorescent! Lol

The other cake was made by disney and a total contrast. Chef Brian was awesome, the cake tasted amazing. It was a mini vanilla cake filled with passion fruit mousse, I devoured it pretty much solely lol I'm not 100% sure what was meant to be in top of mickeys head, I think it was maybe a princess had but the chef had written a castle turret on the receipt. Who knows! My mum thought it looked like a chicken! I didn't care, after the earlier cake fiasco this was amazing, and it tasted wonderful.

We also had mini pastries, cheese and fruit platters and chocolate dipped strawberries for our very own dessert party. I didn't know where to post about this so I thought I would add it here. I ordered from private dining at the same time as ordering my cake, I was told it was going to cost more than it did which was a lovely surprise, there was so much of it though. We ended up eating fruit for breakfast for the rest of the trip lol

In planning for my next cake order I realized that I never posted pictures of our cake from Oct 2013. We were celebrating my nephew's 2nd birthday at The Wave at CR. Chef Brian made our cake- a "yellow" cake with creme filling & strawberries. I told them to make it "Disney whimsical" with Mickey Ears on top with his name. Going by memory, I think this was around $80. It tasted AMAZING!!

I check in on this thread periodically just for fun (love to look at all the pics!) but now I have a real reason to plan! Hoping to go for my brothers birthday. He is an adult, but has cerebral palsy, is severely handicapped and loves Cinderella! We are planning to do his birthday dinner at 1900 PF for dinner and I would love to get him a special cake. Which of the bakery numbers would be best to go through to get him a special cake? And does anyone have a suggestion? It's for a summer trip so I have plenty of time to plan! TIA! :yay:

So I am still waiting to hear back from Johanna on whether or not they can use the picture I requested as a screen print.
She told me Monday that I would hear back from her, and as of today I am still waiting. I emailed her this morning, and am hoping that she replies soon.
I am needing this cake for next Saturday.
Getting worried.
