Two Tier Mini
White Buttercream frosting
Chocolate cake
Raspberry Mousse
Blue and Lilac Mickey Dots
$40

White Chocolate Slipper
Dark Chocolate Mousse
Half Dozen Chocolate Strawberries
$45

Delivered to room at Bay Lake Towers. Cake was very flavorful and moist.

So, going to order the cake for our dinner at Olivia's, under faq it lists the cake hotline number which is a different than calling Old Key West. Does it matter which one I call? One better to call than the other?

If ordering from the Contemporary in Nov. is it better to first go through the hotline or e-mail?

Thanks for sharing your info and photos! :goodvibes

Do they have whipped cream frosting? Or all buttercream?

Yes, but you have to request it. The standard is buttercream.

Those mini cakes, are those ear hat toppers are they edible?

Yes, they are modeling chocolate.

They both end up at the same place eventually, but the direct line is, well, direct! No automated system to wade through.

I've been emailing first and calling in with my order once it was finalized with the pastry chef.

I took a TON of photos at Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings' Bridal Showcase on Saturday. Although the cake ones aren't ready yet, I thought you'd like to see the white chocolate figures—including two brand new ones...

Jedi Mickey

This is exciting because originally there was just one rogue pastry chef at Yacht & Beach Club modifying the traditional Mickey figure to make him a Jedi. Now they have an official figure! Not sure why this guy didn't have a light saber at the show, but the chef said they could make one out of most of the traditional materials. I think it would be cool to use crushed, melted and resolidified hard candy so it was sort of see-through!

I still need to find out exact prices, but these usually run $35-$65 unpainted and are only available at places serviced by Deluxe resorts.

Also, they had this awesome Darth Vader cake on display. His head is not cake, it's molded modeling chocolate. His helmet is a natural for that method!

Thank you Lurkyloo for answering both of my questions and finding pictures for me!!! Really appreciate it! Sent an email to the CR cake email and we will see what they say! Excited! I was able to find some mini cake pictures through here, do you have any others perhaps? THANK YOU!

Here are all the minicakes I've collected in my Photobucket cake album. I've posted them all in this thread before, but... here they are again! Also, just to reiterate, only about 3 of these are standard designs that have names you can request them by. The rest are all completely custom, so you'd need to send in a photo and say "This is what I want."

I'll have more when I finish processing my photos from the 2014 Showcase! :thumbsup2

Thank you so much, Lurkyloo (and everyone else)! This thread is so informative. We're headed back to WDW in November, to celebrate DD's birthday (11), DS's birthday (9), and my own birthday (considerably older than either of those). I'd really like to order them each a mini-cake when we have brunch at 1900 PF. For DS, I'd like a fairly simple cake with a pirate theme. For DD, ideally, we'd have an Alice in Wonderland theme (maybe the bottom layer to look like the Chesire Cat? - I'd give them artistic license with the top). DS will only care about eating the cake, so I'm not too concerned with its appearance.:rotfl2: DD is dancing in a ballet performance of Alice in Wonderland just before we go on our vacation, so I thought that sort of cake, with Alice and the Mad Hatter in attendance, would be a nice surprise.

Does that sound like too much for mini-cakes? They don't need to be elaborate, but I do want them to be special. I was leaning toward mini-cakes because we'll be heading back to the MK and won't want to carry leftovers.

The alternative would be to order a small cake (6 or 8") when we dine at Boma one evening, and we can take the leftovers back to our room (staying at AKV -Kidani). It would be hard to come up with a theme that would be special to both of them, though. It's only cake; it shouldn't be this confusing. But I've been fretting about it for weeks!

I would like to order fancy fondant covered cake to have at CRT. Am I correct that it will need to be ordered through the Contemporary's private dining line?

Def would seem doable in a minicake.

If not get the 6" half pirate half Alice.

You could see if they'd do an Alice in Wonderland cupcake like one of these... or adapt it to a minicake if they refuse to do individual cupcakes:

Used to be. Now they want you to email/call the MK first, then explain that you want something out of the ordinary, and THEN be "allowed" to call/email the Contemporary.

How beautiful!

Thank you for sharing the mini cake pictures - looking at those pictures its hard to believe that they are truly tiny, small cakes - they are just gorgeous! I still have no idea what I will want to order, so I appreciate all the updated information!

Can you tell me any more about the Pirate treasure chest?

It looks to be modeling chocolate? Where would this be easier to order/get to? (i.e. a resort? Contemporary? Grand Floridian? Wilderness Lodge? or any restaurants? BOG? )

How much a mini cakes usually? I'm thinking of ordering myself one for post race celebration this weekend.

I just made contact with Yvonne at Pop Century to place my first ever custom cake order. After hearing horror stories on here I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it has been so far. She listed my options, but did not mention the 2 tier mini cake, so I braced myself for disappointment as I asked if I could possibly have one made. I again braced myself for disappointment when I asked for red velvet with cream cheese instead of the standard flavors, but she assured me it would not be a problem. Now, my last major hurdle...a custom design inspired by our wedding cake. The second I asked for a custom design, she cheerfully suggested that I e-mail her photos so that she can give me a quote. Yvonne also asked if I would like to pick it up or if I would like it delivered.

I am hoping everything else with the process is this flawless. When I get the cake I will post pictures and more details.

I just emailed magic kingdom for 2 mini cakes to be delivered to be our guest. One vanilla mini cake with white chocolate mousse and vanilla buttercream frosting with the mickey topper for my son turning 1 and one chocolate mini cake with white chocolate mousse and chocolate buttercream frosting with I'm hoping a jack skellington theme for my birthday. I'm really hoping they can do the jack theme for my cake. Do these both sound like 35$ each? Or maybe more for the jack?

I think the Grand Floridian and Contemporary are your best bests, but Yacht & Beach Club may be able to do the treasure chest too. BOG and all the restaurants at the MK, WL and Fort Wilderness are serviced by the Contemporary. The GF services the Polynesian.

$25-$55 and maybe up, depending on how elaborate you want to go.

I think so! Maybe less for the vanilla one...
